  1. <<First, I never said that I was laid off. I was in high school when he was president...>> I'm sure it's the fault of the commander in chief that you couldn't find a job flipping burgers or pumping gas. << Second, if it is not the fault of the president, then why would it be such an issue with every election? Especially in the current election. >> Why is anything an issue when it comes to an election? Any issue has to pass through congress. It's really all just propaganda. I mean, why attack the president's personal life? Clinton tried pot but 'did not inhale', but haven't most people? I mean, I'll be the first to admit that it was brave, but he was attacked for it. It's all just mudslinging. <<You see major ads by both Republicans and Democrats concerning job loss overseas. >> The term you want to coin is outsourcing, but it's not the issue at all the the general public thinks it is. Yeah, sometimes job go overseas, and it's terrible that American jobs are lost due to it, but other countries outsource to America as well. I mean, I live about five minutes away from the Toyota Crpt headquarters. That's a Japanese company, but they outsourced their executive branch to this area. Countries are reliant on one another, and if companies didn't spread overseas, it would ultimately be bad for the economy. << So, you see, it is not ignorant or uneducated. >> Don't take anything I said on the post as a personal attack on you, that wasn't the intention. People are rarely told the truth, especially in politics. It's not uncommon at all for people to blame the president for the economy, although that's the thing he has the least control over. I mean, blame him for the war if you want, attack him for his personal life, make fun of his Paris Hilton-wannabe daughters, but the economy is something that the president has very loose control over. << I suppose you believe Clinton is the only one to blame when it comes to the attacks on the twin towers?>> No, 9/11 was something terrible, but it was bound to happen. I blame the American belief that we are invincible. That's why it was able to be carried out. A thousand things went wrong on top of a thousand miscommunications. Also, if you were told that they were going to use jumbo jets as missiles to attack NYC before it happened, you'd probably think that was ridiculous too. << Also, why was it that relatives of Bin Laden were airlifted out of this country the day after 9/11 when no one was supposed to be flying? >> I am aware of that. The US government put a halt to flying and they were free to make exceptions as they pleased. Everyone suspected that Osama was to blame for it, so the American government had the obligation to protect his family (innocent until proven guilty). Also, don't you think that if it were a big conspiracy, they would have left the country BEFORE 9/11 instead of just hours afterwards? That's another assumption that people make--that GW was trying to protect the family for a personal reason, but don't you think the CIA could come up with something better than that? << The Bush family has had business dealings with Bin Laden long before Clinton was in office. >> Well know fact. Then again, if I sell a guy a car and he uses it in a drive by, am I part of the crime? <<And, did you know George W. Bush's grades were not good enough to get him into the great colleges he attended? His daddy's money got him in. If anybody else had applied with those grades, they would have been turned down.>> I don't want to sit here and defend Bush. I mean, he's not the greatest president that we've ever had. As far as grades go, how do you think 90% of the people get into ivy league colleges? I can tell you it's not the grades. It's donations by the parents. On that token, do grades really determine how smart you are? I mean, Einstein was the greatest physicist of the 20th century and he failed highschool math. Anyway, while I have your attention, this goes out to all of the brilliant thinkers who say that Bush 'cheated' in the election. How the hell do you cheat at an election? Now, one thing I've heard involves the Florida Supreme Court (as you know, W's brother is the governor of Florida), since Gov. Bush appointed the supreme court there, he OBVIOUSLY cheated. First of all, do you honestly think that they would some how screw up counting ballots in favor of Bush? Are these guys not under oath? Ok--you can argue that at will, but here's the really hairy side. The election came down to the ballot count in Palm Cty, Florida, and who brought the election to the supreme court there? Mr. Al Gore. Do you really think that Gore would help Bush cheat? On that same token, if it had been a tie, then do you know how they would have chosen the president? The House would vote on it, if they tie, then the vice president would have made the final decision, and of course, the vice president was Al Gore. I wonder who he would have chosen... Now, one thing that I can tell you is that scenario happened, and Gore had won, the same people who attack W saying that he cheated would be saying the same about Gore. It's easy to blame the president for anything that's wrong. I mean, ask any disgruntled employee at work who's to blame for their problems and they'll blame the boss. It's just a simple thing to do. I can tell you that W has a lot more power through his riches than from his presidency. Regards, Ryan Mod note -- feel free to state your though in this thread, but keep it tasteful/thought out/intelligent or I'm going to have to end up closing the thread. Keep the thread an intelligent argument because it could turn nasty and people could get banned, it's up to all of you.
  2. I don't know if it's the industry itself, or the only 17 second ride that TTD offers.
  3. Wow wow wow... it's not the president's fault that you guys got layed off. Believe it or not, the way economy is running is totally determined by how the presidency before ran the economy... even at that, you can't blame the president for the economy since that's the one thing that he really doesn't have entire control over... that's the Fed. Don't like the status of your working environment, blame Allen Greenspan, not the president. It's a rather ignorant and uneducated thing to blame the president for the economy, but hey, most liberals don't know any better I guess.
  4. GigglingGreenGhost, take the words of Jack Handy: One day I told my nephew that I was going to take him to Disneyland, but instead of driving there, I drive him to an old burnt down factory. "Oh no!" I said, "Disneyland must have burnt down!" Oh, he cried and cried, but deep down, I think he realized that it was just a good joke. Then I felt bad, so I told him that I'd take him to the REAL Disneyland, but it was late, so I just took him home. Just thought I'd give you some ideas for the zoo.

  6. This is from PKI's latest newsletter: Xtended Play - The World's Best DJs Perform at PKI This June, two world-renowned DJs will headline Xtended Play, a lineup of music and partying located in PKI's Action Zone. On June 18th, DJ Green Lantern (pictured left), official DJ for Eminem and Shady Records, will headline the event. Green Lantern's innovativeness and creativity have established him as one of the premiere hip-hop mix-masters around and his association with Eminem catapulted him to worldwide recognition. This Rochester, NY native began his career making underground mixtapes and is now featured regularly on nationally known record labels, such as Def Jam and Roc-a-Fella. His unique and award-winning productions have also been used for the promotion of Ecko Clothing and Burton Snowboards. For the June 25th Xtended Play, DJ Scribble, pictured right, will headline. One of contemporary music's most respected and acclaimed DJs, Scribble is setting new records on the dance floor, in the recording studio and on radio and television. A favorite MTV DJ, he's appeared on popular shows like Spring Break, the Grind and MTV Jams. He's also performed at Showtime at the Apollo and in the Broadway musical "Hip Hop Wonderland." Xtended Play is open to anyone 16 years of age and older. Admission to the Park is only $10 after 6pm with a coupon for the event and a minimal cover charge of $5. Admission tickets and coupons are available online and at Rave Motion Picture Theaters in West Chester, OH (on select days only). While season passholders enter the park free, they're still required to pay the $5 cover charge. In addition to watching two of the nation's hottest DJs perform, guests are free to enjoy other games and attractions throughout PKI until midnight on these select nights! Source-PKI
  7. True, but that's not enough to make them have to update it... plus, you know if PKI ever made the news for one of their rides, it would be called their "latest" attraction, simply because the media has no clue what's going on.
  8. I'm 6'2 205lbs, so I'm a big guy as is, and I don't see a problem with them at all. I don't even notice them on the ride itself... and yes, I've tried to stand up before detaching the belt.. it hurts a little, but it's more embarrassing than anything.
  9. I'd have to say Hanger 18 in FoF... it's brilliantly done.
  10. What you have to understand is that the Beach is family owned, so even if it only tured 20,000 of profit net in one year, that's still 20,000 in this family's pocket. They're not trying to please stockholders like Viacom is.
  11. It did have a line when it first opened. Just like Scooby. I'll admit taht Scooby is popular, but this is a matter of personal opinion.
  12. /\ Here are directions that won't get you lost. Enter the park, look to the right. You see flagpoles. Go there. Simple as that. :-P
  13. I always use a debit card. I hate cash. I've never had a problem with using it, with the exception of most of the food stands, which are cash only. As said before, there are ATMs, namely in CDBB and in front of the Zephyr.
  14. They'll take it down whenever the rehab would cost more than the coaster would draw. I don't see it being a "soon" situation, but it's definitely a matter of when.
  15. my thoughts exactly...and a panera bread I have to disagree with you there. Panera is an over-priced novelty resteraunt in which the food isn't all that great. Chipolte still rules!
  16. Maybe Men at Work was about to preform "Land Down Under' in honor of Boomerang Bay...? Seriously, the men at work sign is to warn drivers that construction workes will be working in the area. They don't generally take them down every time they stop working.
  17. It's crazy in the morning as is. I'm just throwing around ideas.
  18. Either that, or have it so you can only get a friend in before noon, or perhaps have the first 2000 or so get a friend in free... then again, I like your idea... why not issue two free tickets with each gold pass?
  19. Took a couple pics today on my way out of the park. After reviewing them I have some BIG news!! ...still no progress.. sorry guys.
  20. Wouldn't hold your breath... My prediction is that the Aussie themed food won't last very long... The shrimp on the barbie seems to be selling rather well, but I think it's a novelty thing.
  21. It's probably in AVI format. Just use a converter and make it an Mpeg and you'll be set. So, what's this video of? How long is it?
  22. Looks interesting. Can't wait to cover it for PKIC.
  23. ::Poll edited to include Action Zone:: Rivertown - Climate, atmosphere, not too crowded... that's my favorite.
  24. Well, I decided to go up to the park around 2, so I more or less got there at 3:00. I entered through the CDBB gate to find that part of the park not nearly as crowded as I imagined it would be. Delirium_Guy was supposed to meet met at 3:00, but he was late because he was cleaning his oven. (I've heard worse excuses ) Anyway, not much to report about CDBB... Dane and I did a little math last week and figured out that it's just about 1600x better than Waterworks was. This has proven to be true time and time again. I guess the best example would be the fact that, with the exception of covering the BB construction, I hadn't set foot in the waterpark since about 96, and there I was, heading directly to it. We got to ride the new attractions several times due to the short lines. I think every time I ride the Coolangata Racers, I like them a little bit more. It's hard to judge who wins the race though. When I would race against Delirium_Guy, he would come out first, but I would end up about 25ft farther down the runway than he did.... The cool part was that since he would come out first, I would come out at full speed and hit his wake and honestly jump about 4 or so inches off of the base of the runway. If you don't believe me then ride next to someone who weighs about 100 or so lbs less than you. It happens. Taz was fun too, we were able to ride twice. The first time we rode with just the two of us, and the 2nd we rode with another pair. I honestly think that we got higher in the funnel the first time, which may dispell the original (and logical) theory that the more weight you have, the higher up you go. It may be up to a certain point.. like 350lbs or so... With the two of us, I'd say we had just about 300lbs, but with the four, we were probably circa 650lbs... who knows... After a while, we decided to hit the dry park. Of course, we were in Rivertown, so we payed homage to The Beast. After The Beast, we headed over to the Eagles. Now understand that I had never been able to snap before. I have always been like that dumb kid who sits in the back of class... 14 years old and hasn't yet mastered the art of whistling yet... yeah, that's me on the scooters. Anyway, a lot of people have attempted to teach me how to snap without much success. Finally, I decided to turn to the most famous of them all, Mr. Todd Bills (Todd is still famous amongst the ride ops today from the legendary time in which he managed to get it so high after a snap that he hit a tree). After some enlightening instruction, I was able to snap about 2 or 3 times. We rode some other things, namely The Vortex, but neither of us could get over the Eagles addiction. When we returned, The Rickster was running the ride. He let me have the honor and glory of touching the Eagles' key... not turn it, just touch it.... ah, inspirational! Anyway, he gave me a few pointers himself, and my snappage improved greatly. The park closed at 9:00 which kind of sucked, but I stopped by GR and said hi to M@ilman before I left. While I was there, I filled out a GR report plugging all of the people who I had noticed did a particularly good job, or were particularly friendly (which is something that you guys should ALWAYS do, if these guys go out of their way for you, please do the same for them!) All in all, this was up in my top 10% of favorite days I've spent in the park. Ryan
