Nickelodeon Parade all ready to go!
BoddaH1994 replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Looks interesting. Can't wait to cover it for PKIC. -
::Poll edited to include Action Zone:: Rivertown - Climate, atmosphere, not too crowded... that's my favorite.

Well, I decided to go up to the park around 2, so I more or less got there at 3:00. I entered through the CDBB gate to find that part of the park not nearly as crowded as I imagined it would be. Delirium_Guy was supposed to meet met at 3:00, but he was late because he was cleaning his oven. (I've heard worse excuses ) Anyway, not much to report about CDBB... Dane and I did a little math last week and figured out that it's just about 1600x better than Waterworks was. This has proven to be true time and time again. I guess the best example would be the fact that, with the exception of covering the BB construction, I hadn't set foot in the waterpark since about 96, and there I was, heading directly to it. We got to ride the new attractions several times due to the short lines. I think every time I ride the Coolangata Racers, I like them a little bit more. It's hard to judge who wins the race though. When I would race against Delirium_Guy, he would come out first, but I would end up about 25ft farther down the runway than he did.... The cool part was that since he would come out first, I would come out at full speed and hit his wake and honestly jump about 4 or so inches off of the base of the runway. If you don't believe me then ride next to someone who weighs about 100 or so lbs less than you. It happens. Taz was fun too, we were able to ride twice. The first time we rode with just the two of us, and the 2nd we rode with another pair. I honestly think that we got higher in the funnel the first time, which may dispell the original (and logical) theory that the more weight you have, the higher up you go. It may be up to a certain point.. like 350lbs or so... With the two of us, I'd say we had just about 300lbs, but with the four, we were probably circa 650lbs... who knows... After a while, we decided to hit the dry park. Of course, we were in Rivertown, so we payed homage to The Beast. After The Beast, we headed over to the Eagles. Now understand that I had never been able to snap before. I have always been like that dumb kid who sits in the back of class... 14 years old and hasn't yet mastered the art of whistling yet... yeah, that's me on the scooters. Anyway, a lot of people have attempted to teach me how to snap without much success. Finally, I decided to turn to the most famous of them all, Mr. Todd Bills (Todd is still famous amongst the ride ops today from the legendary time in which he managed to get it so high after a snap that he hit a tree). After some enlightening instruction, I was able to snap about 2 or 3 times. We rode some other things, namely The Vortex, but neither of us could get over the Eagles addiction. When we returned, The Rickster was running the ride. He let me have the honor and glory of touching the Eagles' key... not turn it, just touch it.... ah, inspirational! Anyway, he gave me a few pointers himself, and my snappage improved greatly. The park closed at 9:00 which kind of sucked, but I stopped by GR and said hi to M@ilman before I left. While I was there, I filled out a GR report plugging all of the people who I had noticed did a particularly good job, or were particularly friendly (which is something that you guys should ALWAYS do, if these guys go out of their way for you, please do the same for them!) All in all, this was up in my top 10% of favorite days I've spent in the park. Ryan

For all we know, the horse could have been coming down a stone paved road. The point is, it's not entirely illogical to clap them together. I guarentee that someone makes that mistake every day.
-
::cough:: umm... you're thanking Dane? He may send out the newsletter, but it's written by someone else. I'm not going to tell you who, but you can probably guess.
-
lol... I actually made the mistake of hitting them together myself when I was in the show. The reason behind that its, the counter top itself has about an inch and a half of either fabric or padding on it. It looks like it's just an elaborate stand for them... hate to break it to you, but hitting two hollow cocoanuts together to make the thump of a horse's hoof makes a heck of a lot more sense then slamming them against a padded surface. In fact, I think it may even sound more like the action itself. Next time you see one of the horse drawn carriages in downtown Cincinnati, listen to the noise it makes... it it a deep thump, or almost a distinct click?

^ I can see that being true. It has the potential to be a much better show, but it's still cool for a one time thing.
-
I think it is supposed to be in the grass behind the Bay.... They promoted that they were going to have it at the end of last year, but I suppose either it hasn't happened yet, or didn't make the final cut. Ryan

Ah, I remember my 21st.... well... a little of it... Happy B-Day Sparky!

What is the most stupid complaint you have heard?
BoddaH1994 replied to dragonqwen's topic in KI Polls
This one goes out to all of the staff members on all of the sites: Person: "Why are you taking pictures/filming?" Me: ::Tells them about PKIC::: Person: "Oh, so you work for Kings Island?" Me: "No, I work for Best Buy, I just do this other stuff for fun." Person: "Oh, that must be tough having two jobs, but you probably make a lot of money" Me: "No, I don't get paid for this." Person: "Oh, so you volunteer at Kings Island" Me: "No, not exactly. I don't work for Kings Island at all" Person: "Then why are you taking pictures" -== Read through the dialogue about 4 more times and you'll understand how the coversation perpetuates. -
Questions that have been asked a Billion Times
BoddaH1994 replied to DegenRider's topic in Kings Island
Q: Poll: What is your favorite coaster at PKI? A: 96% The Beast Q: CP or PKI? A: Matter's what you're looking for. Q: Which coaster will be removed next?? A: Shut up... Q: How will the crowds be on _____________ ? A: Weekend/Holidy/Special Event - Busy... Any other day is weather permitting. -
I am really impressed with the rehab and rebirth of the whole area, but personally I would like to see a really tall raft ride. Something totally for thrill seekers.

Should CDBB get a water-spraying suspended coaster
BoddaH1994 replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
It's a low capacity attraction which doesn't even really fit in with the theme of CDBB. Let's keep the coasters in the dry park. Ryan -
lol... We got luckly last time, this time it may errupt into riots.
-
A lot of people PMed us and asked if we were going to have one in mid-June... people generally said they still had school or that they couldn't go because of such short notice. It simply wasn't worth organizing the event if only 3 people were on the roster. We'll have several this year... don't worry. Ryan
-
Due to the request of several members, the meeting day for this Wenesday has been cancelled and will be resheduled for mid-June. Sorry for any inconvenience. Ryan
-
Haven't gotten to ride it yet this season, but I'm glad it's back!!
-
This is probably the most repeated topic about PKI on the net with the exception of the PKI vs. CP thing. I'm surprised the mods let this slide. (Where are you on this one, sparky?? )
-
^ It looks like we finally agree on something, Amber. Although I do love rides like TR:TR and Congo, Delirium is, hands down, one of the best experiences I've ever had on a flat.
-
Saying that it's a puddle with a waterfall is like saying the Grand Canyon is a just a hole in the ground. This is an excellent place for adults to relax and kids to play. It definitely gives CDBB a "resort" feeling.
-
My vote goes for Nick Central. It has better themeing and is more modern than HBL. It doesn't feel like a carnival-style kiddy land like HBL sometimes does.
-
^ That's true, but it's also a matter of appropriation. I mean, we know what kind of activity and dancing goes on at a dance club. It's really not a place for a 12 year old to be. They're just trying to keep the right events with the right age groups.
-
My guess is simply to flaunt the fact that you're not holding on. While we're on this note, has anyone kept their hands up all the way down on The Beast's hill? I always inherently draw my hands down right before entering the tunnel because it seems like it's low clearance. Does anyone else do that?
-
That's actually the correct answer. They're completely different coaster with the same name.

Dane I already knew that wasn't Paul Hogan. Dane's mad because I proved him wrong.... again.
