  1. Very cool video, thanks for posting it. Only problem is, now I really want to ride it... Hurry up, April!
  2. I guess this answers the lighting question for the most part. From KI's Twitter "Tested the LED uplighting for the new WindSeeker ride tonight." @KingsIslandPR I'm really excited to see how WindSeeker will look at night now!
  3. I'd like to see how Herschend would run Kings Island. To me, they seem like they'd do a good job. Sorry, I know that's slightly off-topic...
  4. Very cool, I hope to make another trip down there this summer to try it out.
  5. Kings Island has posted a video on their Facebook, with Vice President of Maintenance, Russ Flatt, detailing what has been done, and what will be done involving WindSeeker and the Coney Mall.
  6. I guess it's fitting that his last name is Bier. Not to make light of very serious situation. At least there were no other people involved in the wreck.
  7. I'm not an expert on the entertainment recruitment process of parks, so I learned something new today. I guess it'd be a bit crazy to think they got all of the talent from one area alone.
  8. They're holding auditions for Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Worlds of Fun in Sandusky? Seems inconvenient to me.
  9. More WindSeeker/Coney Mall construction pictures available on the park's website. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/park/rides/thrill_rides/WindSeeker.cfm
  10. Edit: The_BEASTmaster beat me to it, but I'll keep my post up for those who do not have Facebook. From Kings Island's Facebook page: That hole is huge! I'm getting more and more excited to see the finished product.
  11. Hits: Racer, The Beast, Flight of Fear, Diamondback, kid's area expansions, Tomb Raider: The Ride, Fear Fest/Halloween Haunt (like it or not, it's a hit from an attendance standpoint) Misses: Diamondback's location (I love the splashdown, not happy to lose swan lake though), Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle/Boo Blasters (cardboard cutouts just can't compare to the rides previously housed in that building), Italian Job's location, new ride names, current food/drink pricing, discontinuing Winterfest. Fail that makes me laugh: the spelling of "King's Island" on Thunder Alley's sign... Just a few things I could think of.
  12. Kings Dominion's Flight of Fear mentions 60 mph. http://kingsdominion.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=450 Also on what seems to be the long forgotten Ride Warriors Nation website. http://ridewarriornation.com/rideCards/ (I don't think it's a direct link, but if you sort the ride cards by speed Kings Dominion's Flight of Fear can be found on the second page with a claimed top speed of 60, while Kings Island's Flight of Fear is listed on the third page with the true top speed of 54 mph. I wonder why Kings Dominion throws around the the 60 mph figure, I'm guessing because it sounds a lot faster, while Kings Island sticks to saying the true top speed. It's interesting though.
  13. Very nice pictures, thank you for posting them! You have quite a talent for photography.
  14. Well this is sad, after 14 years of being virtually crime-free, Celebration, Florida has had its first murder. More here: Town that Disney built has 1st killing since start.
  15. I'm pretty sure that the only steel part of the loop was its structure, the track was still wood coaster track.
  16. From how I see it, Cedar Fair is starting to get a better feel of the park, and I have noticed general improvements throughout. I think their neglect for the "little things", such as water being off in the Tower Gardens, Glockenspiel Clock and Floral clock not functioning, International Street music, etc. has hurt the atmosphere a little bit, but as I said, it seemed there was even improvement in some areas of that later on in the this past season. I am anxious to see how the Coney Mall "makeover" ends up looking, as well as how the whole WindSeeker/Action Theater area ends up looking. I think Cedar Fair has done a great job on keeping the park clean, an excellent job landscaping, Firehawk and Diamondback are great additions to the park, Planet Snoopy looks great and so does Rivertown (I miss Swan Lake though). Another thing I am a big fan of is that none of their ride additions, so far, have involved removing another ride. Interested to see what the future holds, and if Cedar Fair is still in charge in 2012 for Kings Island's 40th, I hope they've got something great planned and that it's not ignored like the 35th.
  17. Once again, simply informing people of an off season project is not hype. If you consider "Flight Deck being re-painted" (the only mention of it on their Twitter page) as being hype, then you should be happy as they are delivering on their promise, it's being re-painted.
  18. Keeping everyone informed on what is going on in the park during the off season is not creating hype. They simply said they were repainting Flight Deck. They didn't say anything like "Get ready for Flight Deck's All New Look in 2011!". It's more than likely going to remain the same color, and that's fine, it'll still look a lot better than the past few years. But there was no hype built up around this, just information.
  19. Here are some pictures. 6-10 show the new paint job, etc.
  20. I'm in no way concerned about Flight Deck's structural integrity either. As many have said most of the red was the old paint, not rust. And from a rider's perspective, Flight Deck rides a heck of a lot better than Iron Dragon, which I found to be less smooth and "creakier" than Flight Deck, which I think rides very nicely.
  21. Same thing happened to me the one time I went to Action Theater. It wasn't a busy day and we waited for much longer than the video takes. Part of the wait was because they were out of glasses, I don't know why it took so long after that.
  22. I would love a ride similar to Maverick for Kings Island's 40th. Could make use of the terrain, and maybe go out into the woods. I LOVED Maverick, it was my favorite ride at Cedar Point (yes I rode in the front seat, totally worth it), and think something like that would make a great addition to Kings Island. A Giga Coaster would be nice too.
  23. Well Woodstock Express and Flying Ace were a change of theme, new names for a new area of the park. The reason I think Flight Deck will stay the same color is that nothing is changing about it but a new paint job. I would love for new colors, I think CoastersRZ has been throwing around something like Nighthawk at Carowinds, I think that would be great, but to put it simply I would be more surprised (pleasantly surprised of course) if they changed the colors, than I would be if it were to stay the same. This is by no means me looking for something to complain about, I'm thrilled that it is getting repainted and about everything else going on, this is just my opinion on what I think will happen.
  24. I have a feeling that it may remain the same color, the new paint will look great though.
  25. If you look up by Subway you can see all the dirt and everything from last picture, you're just seeing more this time around. I'm extremely interested to see the final product, nice to see Coney Mall get some attention, and I'm loving all these off season updates from Kings Island!
