  1. I did not at all hate the Paramount period. Actually a lot of the decisions Cedar Fair makes, make me look back even more fondly on the days of the Paramount Parks. They were in no way perfect owners, i.e. placement of Italian Job, ironically not having the best entertainment, etc. But nowadays, when I see things like the clock over the Festhaus not working, the Tower Gardens being waterless, the area-appropriate music being gone, and most recently Half-Pint Brawlers for this year's Haunt, I truly do miss the Paramount days, when Kings Island was still the flagship park. I think most of the negativity about the Paramount days is that they weren't as good as the Taft days. Just my two-cents. -Delirium13, who misses when the magic of the movies, met the thrills of a lifetime.
  2. I agree with Terpy, the size of the people doing the fighting is not my reason for being so against it (though the slogan is really, really bad...). And in regards to what goodyellowkorn said, I was asking myself the exact same question when I foung out about this... Why couldn't they have done another show, produced by the entertainment people at Kings Island. I thought they were proud of their past shows? I know Hot Blooded is returning, but a new one would have been nice and could have gone in the Festhaus instead of this garbage...
  3. ^ I have to disagree with you, I really think this is a bad idea and I hope it doesn't become a hit, so it just goes away. I agree with the others who can't believe the park would want this, I can only imagine the crowd this will attract...
  4. Anyone seen this yet? "Haunt Yourself" (Links to Facebook)
  5. See my edited post, the map on the first page is what that person would like to see I believe.
  6. I think you are looking at the wrong map, the map posted on this page is not the real map, if you want the real one go to the haunt website. Click attractions.
  7. Map is up and it appears Wolf Pack will indeed be in Son of Beasts station, should be interesting... Or if you want to go by the map, Wolf Pack will be in an empty field by Flight Deck, Drop Tower, and Adventure Express
  8. Very nice trip report! It's always nice to read reports like these, glad you all had a great time. I was also at the park Friday and it was indeed a perfect day to go. Oddly enough I also tried Shake, Rattle, and Roll for the first time (I've been visiting the park my whole life and have never been a big fan of "spinny" rides, but my tolerance has gotten better this year it seems), and was also very pleasantly surprised. It's a very fun ride.
  9. I was there on Friday and it was basically empty, made for a very nice evening.
  10. Really hard to get behind an idea like this... It's just ridiculous and has nothing to do with Halloween. Sorry, but this is a terrible idea...
  11. That had me cracking up!!! Best post in this whole topic.
  12. 7th Portal was in 3D, James Bond was only in 2D, but was still a whole lot of fun.
  13. I don't see where all the disappointment is coming from when less than 48 hours ago it looked like we weren't even getting a new ride. It's not like they've been dropping hints and building up to this for a while like Cedar Point. I think it's a very nice surprise.
  14. I think this will make a great addition to the park and can't wait to ride it next year! The location is perfect and hopefully Coney Mall will get some of the extra attention it needs, way to go Kings Island!
  15. Nonono. It's not FREE but it's at quite a discount. I'm not 100% positive on the exact price of their Halloween Haunt, but if it's what it says on the website the normal price is $42. For bring a friend days, they're mostly every day and depending on the day its either $15 or $19. Which is a pretty nice discount. Only one guest per platinum/gold pass though. But still. I'm kinda worried about the crowds it will bring. I have never been to scarowinds and plan on going every weekend so we shall see how crowded it gets. Oh okay, sorry wasn't sure what you meant initially. I think that could be a good idea for Carowinds since their Haunt is a separate charge, is it not?
  16. Bring a friend for free? If it's bring a friend free, then I am completely against it and hope Kings Island doesn't do it. It would just overcrowd an event that tends to be overcrowded on certain nights as is. The thought of bring a friend free on a Saturday night for Haunt is truly frightening. On another note, I hope Kings Island's Halloween Haunt website is different from Carowinds. That hand knocking on the screen was okay the first 10 times it did it, it eventually got really annoying and made certain words hard to read.
  17. I can't comment as to if the height requirement did change, but the best way to confirm it would be to call the park and ask. I hope your son is still able to ride!
  18. Oh I was well aware of the problems when Flight of Fear's lights would all shut off, I just don't see why that requires the flood lights to be kept on. It seems they could just use the stage lighting and the queue would be bright enough, not to mention it would look a whole lot better.
  19. I was also at the park yesterday (Tuesday, the 17th). Things I noticed: -When I rode Boo Blasters, both the skeleton scene (the skeletons were moving and all the targets were on) and the fog screen effect were working. -I also rode Flight Deck today and second what Beast1979, I have no idea what the original poster meant about "new announcements"... -Flight of Fear had it's show lights on in the ride and the queue. It was the first time this year I saw the red lights in the tunnel leading down to the hangar on, the colorful stage lights, what's left of the lights on the UFO, and most of the screens showing the movie or the random images that the computers under the UFO show. I assume that every show light that wasn't burnt out inside the UFO part was also on, not too impressive but it's a start. The station looked great though. One big drawback, the flood lights were still on in the queue, kind of killed the experience a little bit, but MUCH better today than every other time when only the flood lights were on. Which brings me to my next point... If I remember correctly the whole floodlights being on in indoor queue lines began when Cedar Fair took over, and included Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. Well this year Boo Blasters does not have the same lights on, the line is back to the way it was originally for SDatHC... Why is it that that is ok now? And if Boo Blasters can be like that, why not Flight of Fear? (I can't comment on the Crypt since I've only been on it once this year and do not remember). Just wondering if anyone knows the answer or if it is just another one of those things that doesn't make sense.
  20. ^Everytime I have ridden Backlot Stunt Coaster this year I have overheard at least one person mention an effect that used to be there and no longer works. In one case I had a younger kid and his friend behind me, the one was raving about the ride and how at the end you splash down and water shoots up, well when we rounded the corner to a completely dry splashdown area they were both disappointed. The one who had been talking about it said, "Maybe they'll fill it up later." Well they got there water back (finally), but still no splash.
  21. Couldn't agree more. This year I have noticed myself a lot more interested in atmosphere, theme, entertainment, etc. of parks than I have been in years past. But I digress... Area of the Park: Tough, but I'd have to go with Rivertown, the most "relaxed" area of the park in my opinion. If only there was still area specific music, Tomb Raider or Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal, and swan lake(yes I love Diamondback, but still...) it would be better, I still love it though. 3 Rides: Diamondback Beast Flight of Fear
  22. Yes, I know you shouldn't judge from a POV alone but I found myself clicking forward just to get through the long periods of nothing happening. I much prefer flume rides that take you up a hill initially and are pretty fast moving and then lead up to the big drop (or in the case of Race for Your Life Charlie Brown, goes up a hill gradually goes down and then goes up the "finale hill" shortly after). I'd love for a ride similar to Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal to be put in at Kings Island, just a good fun ride, that didn't bore you to death between the hills... Edit -- Disclaimer: This post was written late at night after getting only 3 hours of sleep the night before, I apologize if it is a bit tough to follow/make sense of.
  23. Not to jump on the bandwagon but I also agree that under Paramount's Kings Island (Like Interpreter said, not CBS), was when I saw line jumping policy being enforced, not once under Cedar Fair have I seen anything done about people cutting in line, not saying it hasn't EVER been enforced, but what I've experienced and I've been to the park quite a few times this season, I have never seen anything done about line jumpers and I've seen plenty of them. Under Paramount it was different. Now two quick examples to back up these claims... This year, while in line for Diamondback, I was right at the spot where the worker assigns you your seat, when the worker told the single rider line which spot to go to, two girls walked out and went to a different row than asked, the worker watched them and did nothing. That's probably the most blatant example I have, but I've got much more. Rewind back to 2003, waiting in line for Tomb Raider. We were getting close to the inside portion of the line when the group of people in front of us let 5 more of their friends in line with them (we had already been waiting a good half hour to get to that point in line). Well, as luck would have it an employee was walking by and saw it happen, he went up told them they had to get out of line, to which they responded "We're just meeting up with our friends." The employee said their friends could stay in line but they had to get out, they argued, the employee told them he'd call security, they then left the line, followed by the rest of their group about 5 minutes later. Everyone else in line were very happy with this result. It would be nice to see this kind of commitment to enforcing these rules return to the park. It really does a lot for guests to know that the park cares about their experience and is going to do what they have to to make sure it is a good one, as opposed to people thinking that the park couldn't care less about line jumping, etc.
