  2. Probably because the rest of the individual venues in Orlando do not have the occupancy (hotels) Disney does.
  3. Aside from you comment on the upcharge for DA, which is your opinion, there could be simple answers to the issues you brought up. Delirium opened in 2003 & MaXair in 2005. The improvments Huss made in two years could be result in the difference on how each ride is operated. That two year difference could be the restraint Delirium faces. I do not remember Crypt/ TR ever running "terrific". It had issues from day one- which is probably the reason it is the only Giant Top Spin Huss has made. Ever see the movie "Money Pit"? It's not the greatest movie, but when it comes to SoB, the similarities between the movie & the ride are eerily similar- even the humor. I do not know where KI spends their money or how money is disributed nor will I pertend to know how each ride is supposed to run. I would be surprised if in the budget, maintenence was not near the top of the list of expenses behind payroll & utility costs. It would also not surprise me if ride constraints (in the two Huss examples) determine how each operates. You can take a piece of crap, shine it up real nice- and you still have a piece of crap.
  4. Sure. I already know what it means, and your concept is (suger coating it) tainted for the sake of this particular discussion. http://www.askjim.biz/answers/goodwill-definition_2093.php
  5. ^ What that employee did (or decision BGT has made) makes no sense. I don't see a difference between what you wanted, and having a child to small to ride being able to wait with an adult in line.
  6. ^ But in the conversation of DA, "Goodwill" has no bering as it does not cost the guest anymore to enter the park (going concern value is not effected), nor has DA taken away from the same guest experience they had in 2010. Now a great example of "Goodwill" is WS. The park is adding a ride, with no increase in the ticket price. DA is simply an option, with an optional expense. If a person does not want to see DA due to the cost, so be it as it is their decision. For a person to threaten to not go to the park because of an entertainment option is simply a poor excuse and they probably were not going anyway. If your example of "Goodwill" was true, we would all suffer as consumers because businesses would be too afraid to change or add anything.
  7. Do you mean people are claiming they will not go to the park because of an attraction that has an optional expense?
  8. Nice TR, and it is too bad about your experience at BGT. I do have a question though: Do you mean she was not allowed to wait in line with you?
  9. It would be intresting to know how much this exhibit actually costs KI.
  10. Open air dinosaur museum proposed for state park in Florida Keys http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/03/20/2125386/open-air-dinosaur-museum-proposed.htmlPerhaps the powers that be at KI are onto something with DA. An entire park in Florida? That is a big investment!
  11. ^ I was really just bustin' chops, which is why I used . Unfortunately, it must have been missed....
  12. I can imagine the outcry if the 2011 Gold Pass was changed to include DA and exclude free parking. We all saw what changing the rides for ERT did.....
  13. I must have missed the release of how much DA actually costs to see how cheap it is. Where can I find that information?
  14. He did not misquote the article, but in using quotation marks in the post gives the appearance that Rick Schmizze made the quote vs. what the writer actually wrote.
  15. But don't misquote the actual quote which is as misleading as the writer's mistake.
  16. ^ And that is from the writer, which does not use quotation marks.... So: Yes... really
  17. Misleading because you used "Cedar Fair" as opposed to "owners" for the actual quote.
  18. Pardon me, if someone wants to correct this, but I do not believe there was a "band-aid" fix. From reading the state report it seemed that Paramount Parks' policies for maintaining the ride were appropriate and ok'd by the state of Ohio. As pointed out by our good friend The Interpreter - Cedar Fair assumed all liabilities and made the decision to operate the ride on that fateful morning. What occurred was a cracked vertical timber. According to the ride's design this should have been fine and it should have been able to operate with enough support to continue running until the problem could be noticed. Unfortunately, the design didn't come through and a slight deviation in the track caused a bump between two track segments. When the trains ran over that bump, it created the jolt that injured the riders. This was all available in the state report, which can still be found online and which is public record. I believe the state faulted the design of the ride and made recommendations to improve it. They did not fault "Paramount's band aid fix." Actually "they" did: http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton-news/last-son-of-beast-accident-case-going-to-trial-1109729.html
  19. Even if the dinosaur attraction does not bring in more people than normal (althought I too doubt that is true), it WILL bring in more money Some of the people who will come to the park regardless will, undoubtedly, pay to do the walkthrough And I am one of those people Will it bring in more people? Perhaps. Will it bring in more money? Probably. Does it give the guests of KI another entertainment option? Absolutely. I have DirecTV. I have the expanded package, and pay extra for it. I also have HBO/ CineMax & NFL Sunday Ticket and pay extra for those as well. I do not see a difference between the options DTV gives me for more money vs. the options KI gives me for more money.
  20. ^^ I bet pushing $10
  21. If anything, we (or some of us) are guilty of overhyping it. KI Marketing did excatly what they are paid to do- create intrest.
  22. I don't see what his complaint would be... It's not an upcharge for a ride, which is all he seems to care about. Unless he just wants to complain about anything and everything, including the attractions he does not care to visit.
  23. Nickels, maybe.... This is a large investment for the park, and other attractions that are large like this do cost extra $$, so I really don't think $5 is that bad. They could charge for ERT (or Fastpass) like other parks, so $5.... I'm willing to spend it to see what it is like. We all maybe surprised on what $5 gets us. And if the area is shaded, quiet etc. $5 maybe cheap for some just to "get away" from the hustle of the park.
  24. It will be intresting to see how this goes over....
