  1. I am amazed at the constant whining about ERT. WS is a new ride, of course it will have ERT for 2011 & probably 2012.
  2. It is simple evolution. Just because a coaster was made one way 30 years ago (or anything for that matter) does not mean it cannot be improved. Some may not agree and will want to split hairs, so be it- they will not change their mind.
  3. ^In a nutshell: The heavier trains were needed to make a complete circut with the loop. The heavier trains also caused more stress on the structure. The lighter trains were able to be used once the loop was removed & caused less stress. The belief was that if the trains were lighter, it would result in a more enjoyable ride. Unfortunately, it did not work out the way it was hoped too.
  4. Winner winner, chicken dinner! And Terp, you need to actually answer the question!
  5. Intresting that you brought up how the Intamin pre-fabs are cut elsewhere. Does anyone know the last steel coaster to be cut, welded etc. on site? Winner gets a great prize!
  6. That question can be used for many things used in life.
  7. Plan for the worst & hope for the best.
  8. Completely unrelated to the topic, but, what a great shadow of SoB's loop!
  9. When Mr. Kinzel admitted in 2005 to Motley Fool that TTD was his worst business decision, TTD was still having numerous issues. TTD's issues have fallen in numbers drastically since 2006. It would be interesting to hear if he still feels that way or if DT has retaken the top spot.
  10. ^ I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. Some enthusiasts are a bit, shall I say -off-, and may try to climb the lift hill.
  11. ^ And here I thought the World was to end in 2012.
  12. Is it just me, or is anyone else not surprised by the comments? FB gives people a voice w/o being confronted. Many comments fall into the "you can't fix stupid" catagory. Listening to those comments on FB and believing them is very close to listening and believing a certain site where people eScape from reality and Scream.
  13. Getting the trains up to speed is not the issue as the park has parts on hand ready to go. The train parts have to be on hand since they are constantly changed during the season, and the trains are totally rehabbed in the off-season. Any park is not going to caught off guard and not have sac parts on hand, and, the parts are normally purchased in a mass quantity (i.e. order 10 instead of 1) to keep the cost down.
  14. ^ Wow, that sucks. I have been present for a workplace fatality, and I understand where you are coming from- the sight & sounds will never be forgotten. And in an attempt to make light of it: Can you let me know when you will be at the park? Thanks!
  15. At least National Enquirer Screamscape has covered all the bases. In time, one of these will come true.... and then the others will disappear and Screamscape will look like a prophet again...
  16. The point is that a reserved parking area is advertised as a pass "perk". The regular lot would be a lot more full if an employee was there turning the GP away from the area reserved for Gold/Platinum pass holders. I am guessing that a late afternoon parking lot employee is the easiest person to move to a different job due to call-offs.
  17. I do sympathize with all involved, and I agree with your opinion. That said, you can't fix stupid. Are all victims to a tragedy like this stupid? No. I believe this incident was an innocent mistake that had a tragic ending. I am referring to those that break the rules by doing something stupid like attempting to stand on a coaster, or jump a fence surrounding a ride.
  18. ^ How can it not be true? Mr. Kinzel said himself that for $20 million they could put in a "pretty good steel coaster." Paramount's $35 -$40 million plus CF's $8 million and now an estimate over $20 million for the TG treatment? SoB would then be the 2nd most expensive coaster on the planet.
  19. If a person wants to do something like this, they are going to do it no matter what. I cannot blame a parent w/o knowing more details (child's age, where in the park- i.e. bathroom) etc. There are MANY assault cases where the assailant is a close relative. Are those cases a parent's fault too? Blame the responsible party, not a shoulda, coulda, woulda.
  20. I don't see a new leader pulling the trigger on a $20+ million project on a coaster that has had, at best, minimal success. There are too many other coaster projects that have been enormously successful for much less. A decision like this, right out of the gate, could end his/ her leadership very quickly. If a quote has already been submitted, the decision has already been made. Unless something MAJOR changes (i.e. CF wins a $200 million Powerball jackpot or steel prices drop by half), SoB's current status will not change with new leadership.
  21. ^ Or he simply misspoke. It happens.... Other than that- With any luck, this information will eliminate future rumors. (yeah, right)
  22. Unfortunately, some complaints are valid and need to be dealt with accordingly. I have only had 2 complaints at any park: 1 @ CP for a rude go-cart operator & 1 @ BGW for a rude Alpengeist operator. Each time, I was offered free tickets for the next day (which I could not use anyway, but at least I was offered something).
