The first year's theming was the best, though I only got to go in one haunted house, the Museum of Horror's, which kicked a**. As for riding rides, it's Fearfest, forget riding rides, check out the haunted houses! If you do want to ride rides, just go early, that's what I always did. And yes Dane, you're right, it was much better when they had wristbands, you could go up in the day to the park and ride rides with zero lines(I rode TR:TR like 4 times, with walk-ons everytime, and front row almost everytime since there were so few people you could pick your row). It's too bad they let the theming slip in the last couple years, but some of the haunted houses are still pretty cool.

Pretty much all of the employees at PKI, excluding the higher-ups, have no idea what's coming next year. For some reason there has been alot of speculation on Vortex's removal, and I have no idea why. I personally don't think that we'll see a removal next year, but I do think we'll see a few ride relocations.

Until you see a sign that says "Vortex is closing for an exciting new attraction in 2005!", or a press release is made by the park saying that Vortex is being removed, assume that it's staying. Also, a B&M Invert means an inverted coaster(hangs underneath the track, but does not swing, like Rugrats Runaway Reptar)designed and manufactured by B&M, a coaster design/manufacturing company. These inverted coasters are large, and feature trains that have cars consisting of 4-seat rows. I hope that helped some.

Seeing as how the original log flume was at one time my favorite ride(before I started riding thrill rides)I went with the Wild Thornberries. Plus, the station is cooler than RRR, and there is some very nice theming around it and the ride itself. That's not to say that RRR is bad on theming though, I love the Drive-In Movie sign and all of the Rugrats characters. I just like Wild Thornberries better.

Good TR. In my opinion, I liked the Son of Beast tour alot more than The Beast one. Not only was it easier to walk(not shorter though)the size of it was just incredible. Pictures don't do it justice, you really have to stand in the middle of it all, and look up at it, it's amazing. The TRTR tour was great too. I loved seeing the ride from the floor.

Congrats to Jeff and his family! Way to go!

Yeah, Beastbuzz was great. Got to meet alot of people from this site and others, as well as spend a day with PKI's excellent guest relations/marketing team. As for a new ride anouncement, Jeff asked us at the awards ceremony if we wanted to see a video of it, and everybody cheered, then he was like, "well, we're not going to, but keep watching your internet". It was fun.

AE used to be my favorite ride, I'm glad to hear that they've restored the lighting effects. That's great that they refurbished it too, I've never gotten to see it with most of the animatronics and effects working. Now if only they could place some foggers or something to the beginning of the ride(I realize they can't use mist due to the track rusting). Great job PKI!

While Taz is an incredible ride with a fast moving line, Snowy River Rapids still remains my favorite attraction because of it being back in the woods, has plenty of drops(though small)and sharp turns, and is overall a long ride, especially if you've just rode Taz. Personally, I'd love to see a 4D at PKI, but not next year. I think we'll be seeing some sort of intamin hyper coaster, like Superman: Ride of Steel. I think it'd be cool though if in the next few years PKI invested in B&M's first 4D.

PKICentral.com remembers Ronald Reagan
Ryan replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Oh yeah, your totally right, I mean, all he did was end the Cold War, show respect to all around him and the office, and brought America out of an economic disaster. He was a great president, who respected those around him. He never took off his suit coat in the oval office out of respect for the presidency, and always thanked his helicopter pilot. It sickens me that only a few years later Clinton takes office and never salutes military officials and does what he did in the oval office. So don't say that Reagan will only be remembered now that he's passed away, because he will be remembered for being the good president and good man he was. And yes, I proudly support Bush and feel John Kerry is only a sad pawn of the Democratic party who is meant to lose, so that Hilary Clinton can attempt to take office in 2008. I'd just like to say, that was a classy move you guys did. Ronald Reagan was a good president and a good man, he will be missed. -
Sorry to hear that, but it was a BAFFD so what do you expect? Boomerang Bay wasn't too bad yesterday, I had a great time. Man the line for Taz moves fast.

How much do you think Rugrats Runaway Reptar cost?
Ryan replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
Or they could just tear the down the water maze in Nick Central and utilize its pipes and water systems for a Nick themed Super Saturator. And by that I mean the pipes underground, not the actual ones that spray you in the maze. -
International Street and Coney Mall won't be changed anytime soon, atleast I don't think so. I'm nearly positive Coney Mall won't due to the fact that in 2005 it will enter its second year of rehab, so I doubt they'd revamp it just to retheme it, of course they could be revamping it to a new theme, so who knows. International Street has lost most of its International feel, but I doubt they'll retheme it, especially considering that explaining how the Eiffel Tower would match another theme would be next to impossible.

Great pics! I can't believe people were saying that there wasn't any theming in BB, there's tons! PKI did an incredible job with it, I can't wait to check it out.

If your digging a ditch next to a roller coaster you might need those.
-
I don't think Top Gun's being removed anytime soon, atleast from what I've heard. That's probably something to do with maintenance.
-
Though I believe PKI will build the Addams Family coaster, and use the Euro-Fighter, I don't think that it will be in 2005. I'm 90% sure the new ride is in Coney Mall, and that it's not the Addams Family coaster. I'd say 2006 would be a likely year for PKI to build it though. This is all based on hunches, so take it for what you will.

Yeah, they're both great parks, but they're different breeds. If your main goal at an amusement park is to ride coasters, CP's the ticket, if you want alot of diverse attractions and theming, PKI is your best bet. I personally think one of the reasons PKI has fallen behind CP is the removal of the Wild Animal Safari. I mean think about this, PKI had every genre of ride in the park at one time. Of course thats not to say that 10 or 20 years down the line(yes, I think we won't see it happening anytime soon)that the park may rebuild it on some new grounds. But what I really want to see PKI do right now is lock in that deal with that hotel company, though it's unlikely it will happen, I personally find it to be something PKI seriously needs. Of course, once again, a hotel could be built far along down the line as well.

Well kids, once again someone has opened the flood gates on which is better. And it's obvious what most people will say, CP is better. Why does half this site think that? Because half this site are the same people every year who whine about PKI trying to do something different or out of the box, instead of a coaster. If you rank parks based solely on coasters, then CP is going to come out on top. As for ride numbers, CP is 100+ years older than PKI, WTF do you expect? CP has nothing like The Beast. They don't(along with every other seasonal amusement park)have anything like TR:TR, or any coaster with theming like FOF. And they have nothing like SDATHC. CP just keeps building coasters, and eventually, they're going to run out of land, or the GP will get tired of "the tallest fastest coaster!!!!"coming around every other year. And yes, I consider TTD a lame excuse of a ride, but a great example of a one trick pony. Anyways, CP's great for coasters, but they throw all their eggs in one basket. PKI has diversified, and has turned themselves into an incredibly well rounded park. The icing on PKI's cake is the theming. CP has nothing like International Street, or the Eiffel Tower. And CP may have more kids rides, but Nick Central and Hanna-Barbera Land are way better than their kids area, and once again, feature tons of theming. PKI isn't as good foodwise, but we do have Skyline and Larosa's which really tie it in to Cincinnati, and I think gives the park some more personality. And of course, you forget PKI's biggest advantage over CP, Boomerang Bay. It's a massive, and well themed, water park, and it's free! Plus, PKI's flatrides are awesome, look at Delirium and Drop Zone. Even if CP has more flats, I doubt they have anything like Delirium. Add in the fact that PKI has thousands of movie licenses and a huge company with a deep pocket behind them, and you've got something that in 10 years will be the big boy on the block.
