Yes, it's very sad. I'm guessing soon the rides will be renamed and rethemed to Nick enteties? I hope PKI doesn't just demolish them and replace them with like 2 Nickelodeon rides. That would definetly lose them the gold ticket. I just hope they save the rides so PKI still has so many different things for kids to ride. PKI has done outstanding in this area with so much variety and the quantity of kids rides. I hope they stay with that, even if it does involve some Nick retheming. Ultimately, it's what's best and the most fun for the kids. Though I did find it cool PKI had 2 kids areas, which seemed to be for 2 different age groups, which was great.

I think when I was little I rode the Hanna-Barbera ride there. I can barely remember it, but I think I liked it. And yes, a 5D show would be great in the Action FX Theater.

Today was a beautiful day, though a bit windy at times, up at PKI. It was good to be back and a fun end to my weekend(Prom and Afterprom Saturday night). Tomb Raider was our first ride after walking around the very cool looking IJST. TRTR fx wise is still very lacking in the ride chamber, but alot of steam and mist was going and made for a neat ride, also the catches are different from the end of last season, making the last catch before gliding into the station much more bearable, atleast in my opinion. Despite a lack of fx repair in the ride chamber, it still looked good, with the area under the triangle now hidden by black tarp to hide the ladder that's been visible for the past couple of seasons. The queue looked great, lots of cobwebs, and the antechamber lighting seemed to dim at just the right moments and created a cool ambience as you entered it, and changed as you waited, the last time I saw it do that well was its opening year. Also, the light pattern on the door is back, though it still doesn't completely work. The preshow looked great too, and all of the flame torches in the ride worked great with the exception of those just before the station in the ride chamber. Very nice upkeep indeed. We did a few other rides, and ate at Skyline in Coney and the new Happy Days Diner, which was an awesome addition and I thought the meals were reasonable and they tasted great. I'll definetly be returning. Starbucks is apparently going in and Graeter's was open today it appeared. But the highlight of today was IJST being tested. It looks great and very fun, though I didn't see the cars fishtailing. The warehouse looks to have alot of props in it, more of which are by The Racer next to the old Antique Cars. It really is shaping up to be a great ride. Today was really a blast, and a great way to kick off the season.

No, they probably couldn't be Disney, but they could be Universal, which despite even their huge capital didn't come close to Disney's level of theming or quality when I went there this week at IOA after visiting all 4 Disney Parks and Typhoon Lagoon(one crazy band trip, made it worth being in band, lol). As I walked through Spider-Man's queue line I felt that Scooby's queue room felt more professional, and I'm not that much of a fan of the scooby ride(when compared to Phantom, though Scooby is very fun!!). After a couple of rides I stopped comparing IOA to Disney and started comparing it to PKI and felt that Tomb Raider's theming could take on a few of their rides theming, and possibly win against a couple of them. While the rides are great, especially Spider-Man, the queue's were mediocre and often very confusing, and alot of the ride's actual in-ride theming was terrible(Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls for example)which was funny because some knock it out of the park(Spider-Man). Despite all of these underachievements as I view them the park still receives tons of rewards. IJST wouldn't feel too out of place at Universal in my opinion. In closing, comparing PKI to Disney is nuts because even though PKI lacks the capital of Disney, Universal does have the bucks, they just lack the creativity and talent to top the mouse. I'm sure many of you are die hard IOA fans, but if you look past the fact they have some nice coasters and look at their detail and theming, you'll discover Disney still comes out on top. And after seeing construction on Expedition Everest, I don't see that changing anytime soon. With all that said, IOA had probably the best lines of the week, possibly because it rained that morning, but it rained the morning and once or twice during the day we went to Magic Kingdom and it turned out to be the most packed I've ever seen it. At IOA I got to ride everything with not one wait above 45 minutes I believe, and that was rare, most were 15 or the rare 20 minutes. We even got to ride Spider-Man(our sound cut out the first time and left me dissapointed, I needed a second go on it)and JP River Adventure twice. We even got their late and had to leave early and still did everything, very nice indeed. IOA is a great park, I just don't find their theme to be Disney quality. But I do see it has very possible for PKI to be at Universal's level or better, even if they can't reach Disney's.

Oh, this figures, finally a tour when school's not in session and I just so happen to be on a bus at that time headed to florida with the music department at our school(typhoon lagoon, animal kingdom, mgm studios, epcot, magic kingdom, and islands of adventure!!!! and we only have to march for like 20 minutes once!!!!). This figures, lol. Everyone who goes have a great time!

Huh? What are you talking about? I wasn't in Vietnam(I doubt you were either)but I think one of the few movies that ever got Vietnam right was Apocalypse Now. That wasn't something they were proud of, they were in the middle of hell, and they knew it. It's no secret lots of GI's suffered from shell shock from something so hectic and insane, I think Apocalypse Now might be the only one to show that. And you don't make rides about something like Vietnam. Anyways, I've never seen We Were Soldiers but I doubt it captures the grittyness of Vietnam like Apocalypse did.

Yeah, the cars are also missing paint where their hubcaps should be as well as license plates and Mini Cooper stripes down the front and rear. Seems like they only have their factory paint job for the time being. I'm pretty sure the doors were there on the left side of the cars, which is the one that will be opening I believe. And yeah, it looks like they haven't gotten a full train assembled yet, just a few cars on the track, so it could be a little longer before we get to see the nifty white one bringing up the rear. I hope PKI's paint shop does some detail work on them prior to opening, I'd be dissapointed a little if that's how they ended up, without the little details they had in the trailer. They still look great though, as does the chopper and its 2 mini guns! It looks awesome, great job PKI!

Tomb Raider Fair Fall is done
Ryan replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Way to go PKD, looking good! I really like the theming they already have in the background, I can't wait to see the finished product. They said they were going to have the volcano scene, will it be in front of that stone structure I'm guessing? Eitherway, the floorless top spin was a great way to take the Tomb Raider theme outdoors. I'm glad they didn't just rehash ours and instead opted for a completely original title, story, and theme. This increases my desire to visit PKD, and I really hope some of our friends from PKD will send us some pics when it's done. -
I don't think they would demolish the rides in HB Land, I think they would just rename/retheme them to Nick characters like PKD did this year(I think). If they did demolish all of the HB Land rides for 3 new nick rides that'd be pretty dumb considering how diverse their kids area is right now and how many kids rides they have. I don't doubt that 2006 will bring us new Nick rides though. I just hope that PKI doesn't opt to kill a bunch of rides to build a couple new ones.

Very interesting, it does not surprise me they have a different website than the other Paramount Parks because if I remember correctly they had a great Scarowinds website in october. I wonder if the Platinum Pass could be coming to all Paramount Parks this year or just sort of stay at Carowinds for the time being.
-
I believe they sued due to the fact that the wood they received, or part of it, was not the correct type and therefore was either not going to be structurally stable, or not structurally stable a few years down the road. Also, I'm not sure if PKI ever wanted Son of Beast's wood to be stained seeing as there's so much wood and they tried to cut back wherever they could to keep the giant ride affordable. Not sure how much money it would take to stain that much, but I'm sure it'd take awhile though.

Thanks Dane, I appreciate it. And he wasn't the only one being an ass, I've been too. This topic's gotten people at each other's throats, we all need to just accept one another's opinions and discuss what might happen, not bash others and their thoughts.

Your a f***ing idiot and need to pay attention to previous posts because thats not why they were their because parks usually set the construction dates and all that **** well over 2 months. Cedar Point announced MaxAir on December 1st, 2004. We saw Dick Kenzel at KI at the end of October. Thats 2 months. Research for Max Air had to have taken place WAY before October. If you were the BIG man of Cedar Point would you order and set the construction for a ride 2 months before announcing it, probably cause your f***ing dumb but he didn't. Longlivebeast, you are infact the f*cking idiot. If Cedar Fair was buying Paramount Parks, which weren't yet on the block even, why would they go to PKI instead of Paramount Parks HQ? You need to stop being a dick to people just because they don't think that your precious CP is going to own PKI. Put down the crack pipe, and get a life. I need to get a life, dude you make computer games based on a KI employee. And I need to get a life. haha Hm, let's see, yes, I made a computer game based on a PKI employee that a ton of people played and got a little enjoyment out of, yep, that qualifies me for having no life. Right along with playing football, band, having a girlfriend and balancing honors classes at the same time. You seem to call people "f*cking idiots" just becuase they disagree with you about wether or not Kinzel was talking to Ross about CF buying PKI/Paramount Parks. For pete's sake, it's just amusement parks. And as Ben said, it doesn't matter who owns PKI, it's still going to be there. Yet you decide to take it upon yourself to call others idiotic becasue they don't share your same opinion, about an amusement park's ownership no less.
-
Hm, ok, let's look at this. First off, CF doesn't have a billion dollars to make a new investment in their pocket, they have alot, but probably not that much. Secondly, assuming they did get a big multi-million dollar loan, then taking into account maintenance fees and fees of stocking the park with prizes, paying employees, etc. in addition to doing the same for the parks they already own, this investment is costing more than a billion, and the parks turn enough profit each year combined to make that magical loan you speak of not be payed off for a long time. The maintenance, marketing, staffing, and supplying of 5 additional parks in addition to what they already have and having nothing left in there savings account(a term you seem to think I don't know about)would mean they would have nothing to maintain the parks or add new additions, since if they were lucky the parks would turn enough profits to support themselves, and not much else since they had drained there funds by a billion dollar purchase and were paying off that magical loan you speak of. With that said, this is one risk they might be foolish to take. Now, grant it, I honestly don't know how much CF has, so I can't make a very good evaluation of their ability to purchase and maintain Paramount Parks, however, I'm pretty sure they don't have a billion to spend. I don't proclaim to be right about this, or to be very knowledgeable on businesses and their operation/expansion, but I certainly think I don't sound like a d*mn fool as you said, so get off my back. Also, elaborate on how you "personally" know Cedar Fair is willing to take this risk?

I do not doubt Cedar Fair's financial ability to buy another park, I doubt their ability purchase PKI because you can't just puchase PKI, you have to buy the whole Paramount Parks unit, which is selling for 900 million to a billion dollars. I don't think they can afford it. I apologize if you misunderstood what I said.
-
It was a business meeting Ben!? Well, since your the god of the universe and know everything(not limited to why Snapper likes to be dominated)I have to believe you! But without proof or ever having seen Kinzel there yourself and neglecting the fact CF can't afford it, how are you so sure? I sure am glad CF is buying our park, that means we can have 6 hour queue line times for 15 second one trick pony rides with no theming or creativity. ROCK ON!!!!! Let's all worship Ben and his superior intelligence about things he actually knows dick about!!!!
-
Your a jerk man! U know that i didnt have any proof becasue i didnt have a camera and my phone was in my car bc i was working. So if you don wanna believe me then fine thats perfectly ok with me. So please shut your mouth! Have a good one Meat Stick! Dude, when Geauga Lake closes down and you can't get dominated you get really cranky, what the hell is up with you? And since the parks weren't for sale then, I doubt Kinzel was there talking about buying the park. And as Bodda informed me, PP HQ is up by Carowinds, so why go to PKI? Also, they are building a ride PKI already had for this year, so he was probably just gathering information, or simply just talking with the GM of PKI. They don't have the cash to buy all the parks. Please stop being such a little ***** whenever someone says they don't think it will happen. He may have been there, but that doesn't mean they were talking about buying PKI. Just hold yourself out a little longer until the parks open back up and you can get humped into submission by Dominator once more. Or twice more. Or three times more.
-
Your stupid PKI isnt the #1 park on earth. Get a life besides PKI! On the other hand Brandon, PKI does have the highest attendance compared to any other seasonal park on earth. True, but Snapper doesn't like PKI because it doesn't have any rides that will hump him into submission, like his favorite B&M does.
-
Wow -- calm down, Brandon's just being himself. Haha, I know, I just really like to screw with people, especially when we have differing opinions on something that's not important(otherwise I'll be a respectable person willing to debate and listen to ideas). Don't take what I said personally snapper, or the joke about how you like to get Dominated from your #1 B&M coaster. All just fun & games.
-
I will say for the CP fans out there and for political correctness that Cedar Point is an awesome park I wish to visit soon, and I'm sure I will enjoy it immensely. I do feel they are not as creative as PKI in some of their recent additions when compared to Tomb Raider or Italian Job. However, their rides look to be great fun and I look forward to visiting. Wow, political correctness sure is fun.
-
Your stupid PKI isnt the #1 park on earth. Get a life besides PKI! Hey Snapper, I thought you said that I should lay off Ben? And now you're getting on a PKI fanboy. Wow, you're not just a ***, you're a hippocritical ***. How do I know he's a ***? Look at his #1 B&M coaster, Snapper likes to get dominated. Lol.
-
Kiss my a** snapper. He's a CP fanboy who'd like nothing more than to be able to say that PKI got bought out by his precious CP. He can say what he wants, but I can too. Also, what the f*ck? I didn't even make fun of him in that post, just of Cedar Fair's additions to their parks. And I told him to go back to a Cedar Fair site, I think someone said that to him before too. Get over it you *****. Cedar Fair's not ending up with PKI unless they pull a billion dollars out of their a**. I don't see it happening.
-
I hate to burst your bubble Ben, but I don't see Cedar Fair buying Paramount Parks, I think they lack the funds to make it happen, and it's probably not feasible for them. Buying one park I could see, but they are selling the whole unit, so I don't see your precious Cedar Fair owning the much more original and creative PKI in the future. And if Cedar Fair owned PKI all we'd get is a bunch of coasters that lacked creativity or theming. Go back to a Cedar Point site.

To my knowledge, PKI has never soft opened a ride. Infact, aside from some water rides(and they may have even opened with the park), I believe IJST is the first ride to open after the park itself opens. I'm probably wrong though. It would be interesting if PKI had some soft openings for IJST, I'd certainly hope I was there on one of those days!
