Wow, complaining that the ride is only 30 feet taller than Magnum, IMO Magnum is still one of the 3 best coasters in the world. Of course Magnum doesn't splash you with water at the end (to it's credit), but for anyone not to be excited about this ride is nuts, would you rather Paramount was still here, maybe we could get another Italian Job instead. One of the things I love about Magnum is despite being a Hyper Coaster in excess of 200 feet it still has the chain pull up the hill giving you the slow climb and lots of time to think about how high your going and take it all in. I could ride that ride all day!

I certainly hope that's what it means, I hate this latest trend, of rides outside of the water park getting you wet, if I wanna get wet i'll go to the water park, I love thrill rides, but I really don't wanna get my non swim clothes wet. I find that very annoying. However I know the Maverick is suppose to spray you but it's never gotten me wet, so I'm hopping it won't be an issue.

Galaxi was closed all day as well, 2 coasters closed a real bummer.

Yes the Haunted Castle is still an upcharge, which actually worked out good, I saved it till my session was up and had more to do.

I loved Magic World as a kid, The Magic Carpet ride was cool, I don't remember the maze, I remember the Haunted Castle Ride, the Spaceship over Gatlinburg and the high diving show.

I ate at Noble Romans, and yes I did the walk through, I assume your talking about the haunted castle, I enjoyed it very much

I've been thinking about going for the past year and I finally made the trip up, drove up in the morning, did the 11-6 session than drove home at night, quite a long day. I really enjoyed the park, you had to walk across a suspension bridge over the lake to get to the park, it really looked quite neat from the bridge with the picturesque view of the park across the lake. Hoosier Hurricane was a nice wooden coaster with absolutely no wait. The swings were the best swings I have ever ridden. they go out over the lake and were quite high, and were kind of all otver the place, they rocked. I finally got to ride the paratroopers, a vintage amusement park ride that I had never seen before, they to went out over the lake, and it's a good thing I rode them when I did, because they soon shut down for the rest of the day which was disapointing. There was a really neat indoor coaster that went up an elevator and in and out of a cave on a mountain, that was really cool. Looking at the outside of the ride kind of reminded me of something out of old Magic World in Pigeon Forge when I was a kid. They had the flying scooters always a joy to ride. Didn't get a chance to ride the Antique Autos which I really wanted to do. They had a ride that kind of reminded me of the enchanted voyage without water called Den of Thieves with a pirate theme. It was a disapointment that the Cornball Express was down all day. Steel Hawg the new coaster was a little crazy, it only has one car so I can't imagine how long a wait it would be on a crowded day but it was cool, while not overly fast the first hill goes down hill at 120 degree angle and it has a lot of cool elements. Also I couldn't pass up a chance to play Fascination an old time amusement park game that is rare to find these days, my mom has told me how my Grandmother loved to play it at Coney Island many years ago. It was a fun day and this was the first park in a tradition I'm starting of visiting one park every year that I have never been to before.

Yeah the seven hour session pass is only 23.00 and if you buy online you don't pay the admission price. That's a pretty good deal. I'm gonna make the drive up in the morning do the 11 to 6 session and then drive home, sure to be a long but fun day. I'm looking forward to riding the paratrooper, a classic ride that I have never seen before.

thanks for the feedback, I'm looking forward to going, looks like a cool place

I'm going to IB probably this Thursday. Has anyone been there? Is it a good place? What kind of ride waits can I expect. The ride sessions starts at 11, is that the earliest you can get in?

what's the Cicada situation like? are they still out, are they heavy?

Nastalgic Look at Coney Now and Coney Then
raptor replied to pilotank's topic in Coney Island Central
ah, I miss the days when you could go over to Coney and get on a ride or two before a concert at riverbend, but since they did away with tickets it is hardly economically feasable. -
Consumers Fork Out For Cedar Fair
raptor replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The fact of the matter is that with gas prices what they are, very few people have much extra money to spend. I have to drive nearly 30 miles from northern ky to get to the park, and by the time I pay for gas there and back, I'm not ready to spend a lot at the park, I will usually by and ice cream though. -
I just happened to be going on this day, wish I had known about it sooner, there isn't any club I can join and receive my card by Wednesday is there, will any of those clubs mail out your card the next day, or perhaps let you print one at home after joining? probably not

Well I've been to Coney Island (Post 1971 as i was born in 76) about 20 times and I've never been in the pool, I like swimming, but I've never been big on swimming at amusement parks, I just like rides more. I think it needs a nice wooden coaster, nothing elaborate, just a nice old fashioned coaster, it would do wanders for the experience, with that said I love the flat rides, I love old fashioned rides, something that Kings Island needs more of, I would love to see a whip at CI, isn't there one still sitting at Lesourdesville? It would be great to see that ride at Coney, I assume that Turtle Parade is Kid size, can adult's ride that one? probably not, I can't wait to ride River Runner. Also Strickers Grove built the Teddy Bear from Coney Islands blueprints, so the Shooting Star one's probably still exist.

oh yeah and the monster was closed
-
not to mention when It was most crowded around 3:00 half of the rides were closed: the crypt, viking fury, only one racer open, even the train and the log flume were closed, as crowded as it was that was ridiculous
-
and who wouldn't rather have Coca-Cola cool zone over the tumble bug or skylab
-
I guess I may cancel my plans for that day. Wouldn't it be nice if they had at least 1 weekday during the school year when there aren't alot of kids there where the adult pass holders could enjoy, at least Cedar Point has a few days in September where this is the case.
-
Cedar Point 2008 Preview I already miss Macaroni's! I don't like the sound of music and Spiels on the train (does every ride that is not wild have to turn into a cartoon?) Iron Dragon on the early entry list, that is a surprise (wouldn't be nice if KI had early entry every day also?) Japanese Restaurant in the Hotel Breakers - I thought that was an odd choice for the hotel

I rode it once, I typically rode the backward racer about 10 times in a day, so of course I hate it, I also don't care about racing, even though that is the theme of the ride, all it does for me is slow down the efficiency of the ride when they have to worry about racing them, I would rather just load the train and send it on it's way. But since the rides half to come full circle and back to their original state for nostalgia, I'm looking forward to the train going back to it's original state of being a train ride through the woods and not a transport to the waterpark and the log flume not dumping water over your head when the ride is over, but of course I'm sure this nostalgia stuff only applies to The Racer.Don't get me wrong I'm happy with Cedar Fair taking over the park, but I will still complain when I don't like things.

I'm not going to watch it, I can't stand country, especially if it's modern country which I'm guessing it is, now rockabilly I can dig that. Hmmm if I had to pick between watching 80's music and Country I don't know how I would pick.
-
also, how cool does it have to be out to turn off the elephant on the log flume, when the sun went down it felt like 58 degrees, I was going to ride that and couldn't believe it was turned on in sweatshirt weather. Please tell me I am not going to half to listen to that horrible 80's music every time I'm in line for The Beast, I can only take that for so long before I lose my mind. It was interesting to ride The Racer forwards and see the different view, but the thrill is gone for me. Positives: So nice to see anything Paramounts completely gone, the park looked cleaner and nicer than I have seen it in a long time, I can't wait to see the new ride develop
