New trains wouldn't be a bad idea. If whatever fix they choose (if they try a fix at all) doesn't work the trains could be modified and given to daddy, It is fathers day the son should be giving him something.
-
^ If true I'd imagine this would bfe much like the "fix" Mean Streak received this year.

Many thanks to those who bring a little history to us, it's an era in parks I wish I had been able to enjoy. This video and all the ones the user created are also a must check out, they nearly bring tears to my eyes.

Can you identify suspect in Kings Island assault?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to KIfan73's topic in Kings Island
I can't find a link on their website but this story hit our local news tonight here in Knoxville TN. WBIR was the channel it was on and I must say it painted a negative view on the park. I really hope this doesn't hurt the park, truth is sadly it could happen anywhere if it did even happen. -
I like the commercial way better than the shred it one.
-
If it's the same ad agency that Hardee's uses I woulddn't be so sure. Has Hardee's EVER had a good commercial...it's like they strive to top themselves by making an even worse commercial than the previous one. I'm sure many men and a few ladies have enjoyed Hardees commercials, Miss Turkey anyone? That said they didn't really promote the burger.

Only took one reply before the SOB entered the thread, this should be a game. Like the quiet game, how long can a thread go before SOB enters.

Lady GaGa Amusement Park?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to a topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I personally don't care for Lady GAGa however I respect her talent. I do however love the "Monster Island" theme park concept. It may not appeal to the masses but it certainly could find a nice little niche. In entertainment that niche could be more than you need. -
In fairness I think we all under value what we get for the money at theme parks, especially those local to the park. Dollywood is my home park and it's prices are higher than Kings Island on admission, yet if I hadn't been able to get my season pass for $24 I probably wouldn't have one. Name me one company that gives you a better return on their investment. Parks spend so much money every year yet we only pay a small fraction to enjoy them, not to mention the economic impact a park often creates. I don't like prices going up on anything unless its a stock (which I actually don't have any just thinking that would be a good situation for a price increase), doesn't mean I think it's a bad value when it does. Now the food on the other hand.
-
I see nothing complicated about your question and understand your frustrations following. To answer I would gladly pay a little extra for a Haunt maze with a few IF's attached. It would need to be considerably better and more interactive than the free with admission mazes. It would need need to have shorter waits than a free one.

Ride Enhancements to The Crypt
AintNutinElse2Do replied to kingsrattler's topic in Coming Attractions
^ That song deserves way more theming than what Cedar Fair would likely ever give, and an intense ride cycle. Though i'm not a fan of the Lord of theRing series it would make a great themed ride. -
^ don't follow. What I'm saying is that putting in pavers is very expensive especially when ripping out what was there before. In my opinion and only in opinion the cost of that project would be similar to what tearing down SOB "could" cost. What does the TOS have to do with it. If for grammar and punctuation I apologize I'm posting from my phone. Just wanted to clarify what I implied.
-
Few thoughts to throw out here. These are simply opinions nothing more. If the park has the funding to put in pavers they have the money to tear down SOB. I think they are both equally noticeable overall to the average park goer and neither are a neccessity. So to me tearing it down wasn't decided by the park. I do think Texas Giant will play a role if the reinvestment doesn't attract the crowds an entirely new ride does, then I doubt many parks will invest into redoing coasters. I think the best clue to what will happen to SOB will be found this summer in the que lines of NTG.

Outside of the whole elevator and op at the top debate, I don't think they would do this but if they pulsed the speed of rotation I could see that adding a lot of thrill. Everytime the speed would lower so would the seats.
-
Hate to add fuel here but saying something is "plausible" doesn't mean likely. It is indeed "plausible" for there to be a ride op at the top (if an area is designed for such op) doesn't mean there will be one. Ever watch Mythbusters sometimes a myth is proven "plausible" not confirmed or denied. This whole thread got out of hand because many seem to forget what the term really means. Many valid points from many here but most don't take away from it being "plausible" and until we see the finished product we don't really know enough to say there is 0 chance at this point unless your someone that has inside information. Sure somebody knows for sure but doubt it's many that have spoken against it. That said I don't think there will be a constant op at the top but I'd move up from TN to work that position if there was.

If an employer says you can quit or be fired and you leave did you quit? I think this was likely what happened, it is my understanding though it would be in effect termination. Though he may have also known he was in thin ice and left before termination in which case he resigned. Of course I live in a "right to work" state so my understandings of other states is limited. Don't anyone think "right to work" is a great thing though unless your an employer. Just my opinion on that though.

Maybe we could just start calling the almost roller coasters "pluto coasters."
-
I could justify calling it a coaster. Example, Blazing Fury at Dollywood, cars on a track with a motor pushing them for the majority of the ride. Surf dog also a car on a track with a motor that not only pushes but turns the vehicle. Both have drops of similar heights, both are powered, one does more with layout the other more with the ride vehicle. Why consider one a coaster and not the other? Superman at SFMM goes up further but does less with layout and has similar track structure though it uses it power differently. That said I don't like to consider Surf Dog a coaster in the same sense I would Racer or Diamondback. Just like I don't like putting New Texas Giant in the same class as Intimidator or even the same class as Thunderhead. There's always going to be some who say it should be one thing, and often they will have valid reasons why, then there's the others. Personally I'd love to see it broken down like the Westminster dog show. Best of breed then best of group then best of show.

Lake Winnie Runs Dry
AintNutinElse2Do replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Lake Winnie is one of my favorite places of all, especially if your lucky enough to be there at night. Of course there's the boat chute, but they also have one of the oldest carousels there is, but it's the Fly-o-planes that have scared me in a way no other ride has scared me. -
I'm pretty ok with the dino thing I'm even a little ok with the fee. Even though you get a whole water park for no extra fee. I would rather them add $3.00 to every ticket which would likely earn more than the extra 5 now. My problem is if this is a permanent upcharge, there's now X base with little way to connect with Coney on that end. Like this whole possibility just got crushed. That is unless this area is a means of a bigger solution, either way I'll make my way through it at least once and might even enjoy myself.
-
So this is a permanent attraction if I read correctly right?
-
It still doesn't link properly dude. I don't know how you do it from a phone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtube_gdata_player&v=H3IYcCqq9tk Maybe this one will work for you that's the non mobile address.

Let me try this again, I'm posting from a phone so not sure how to link this better. But this makes me more excited about what may be on it's way. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=H3IYcCqq9tk http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=H3IYcCqq9tk

While I agree it would seem like it would cost more than Texas Giant to rehab SOB using a different company it may not. If you take the same car to get repaired at a Dealer and get an estimate them take it to Joe's Auto and get an estimate the dealer will almost always be higher for the same work and might even do equal quality work. Here's a question I've pondered though. With Texas Giant there's little argument of it now being a steel coaster. Does the same hold with "topper track" or what if they kept the lift and drop as is but gave the "iron horse" treatment to the rest of it? Then technically it would still have the tallest fastest drop of any wooden coaster on the part that is still wood. So at what point does the steel/wood ratio reach before it would be a steel coaster. By the way names like Altered Beast or Weld-a-Beast seem great for a refurb.
