A Special Thank You To Everyone
thejoker8388 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
I'd also like to thank the staff for being fair and not favoring a certain person or group of people over everyone else. This site is very fair in what gets deleted and what stays; it is very appreciated. -
^Personally, I loved the one Disko I've been on. I thought it was great fun and when you throw in the extra hump it should be even better. I can't wait to see the Disko come to PKI and lets face it, the Disko at PKI is as confirmed as it can be without actually being confirmed, just like how we knew that a Nick expansion was coming long before it was actually announced.

What are the chances PKI will get a SpongBob ride.
thejoker8388 replied to ragerunner's topic in Coming Attractions
I'd love to see a Spongebob Crash Course wild mouse coaster. My only question for all the people who claim that this coaster is coming to PKI is this. Roller coasters, no matter what design, no matter how small or large, just don't appear over night, they take alot of time to build. A wild mouse coaster that is enclosed with lots of themeing would take quite a while to build and I'm sure that digging would commence before the ground froze. Are there any survey markers or any sort of indication of this ride? Plus if they were removing other rides/buildings for Spongebob that process would have surely started wouldn't it have? Italian Job started having survey marker spottings in what May or June and the actual clearing of land and construction started in late August or September and it didn't open until late May. If there aren't at least survey markers yet I'm highly doubting a Spongebob coaster. I know wild mouse coasters are fairly quick to construct but still; this ride wouldn't open until late June or July, unless PKI either has a building frenzy or really cut corners in the building of this ride. I'm going to say that I highly doubt a Spongebob coaster unless there is some sort of tangable signs of work around where it would be located. Like I stated earlier, roller coasters just don't appear over night and it's already November with winter and frozen ground approaching very quickly. I'd say the likelyhood of a Spongebob coaster this year is 5% at best, even though I admit that I'd love to see it. -
^^Wait, a launched themed family roller coaster that stops to show scenes in the middle of the ride. Kind of sounds like some other coaster that I know, hmm... Seriously if on the off chance a Spongebob coaster is coming I sure hope its not like IJ just themed to Spongebob.

I'm with specialk and jzarley, I've never seen Shaggy have a wrong prediction so it seems like we're getting this new version of the Disk-O. Looks pretty fun to me and we have to remember that this is a coaster geared towards smaller kids. So with that in mind it likes like a great ride and any new coaster has to be an improvement over SDGC.

I remember that movie. I enjoyed it although I now forget what it was about. They also made a second movie called Rock Vegas or something like that and I remember thinking that movie was horrible -
Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006

Yes, they take the vitamins but I also used to eat those E.L. Fudge cookies with the shapes of the little elves. I loved those cookies but could care less about the character that my cookie is shaped after. I think you'll find this with the average kid, the Flinstones are now more associated with cereal and vitamins than the actual cartoon, so the kids like the product but don't really care about the characters. The reason your kids probably love them is because you seem to be obsessed with cartoons and have probably showed your kids these cartoons. With the majority of kids, I doubt they've ever seen more than one or two of the HB carttons. -
I'm considering making the drive down from Columbus on November 5th depending on the weather. I forget, how warm does it have to be for roller coasters to operate? Also, are all the rides besides SOB and water rides planned to be open? And finally, how were the crowds last year? With the limited operating hours I'm not sure I would drive down if it's supposed to be super crowded. Thanks for the help.

^Yea, the ride was called the Arrow Hydroplane flume or something like that. It was different from the average flume with the features already mentioned of the revolving loading station, two drop chutes and the ramp that caused the "hydroplane" giving the ride its name, so you didn't get as wet as a normal flume and you traveled further, faster from the momentum of the drop since all wasn't lost as soon as you hit the water. Cedar Point is getting rid of their version this year as well, so it appears that this style of flume, which I enjoyed more is beginning to disappear.

^They're not nearly as bad as Six Flags. This summer they had a couple Wyndot Lake commercials that were so misleading. The one showed the little PTC Sea Dragon as some huge out and back coaster. The other commercial showed slides that aren't any thing like the slides at Wyndot and showed one of the Proslide funnel slides. At first I though Wyndot got a nice new slide but it was just Six Flags using film footage from other parks for the Wyndot commercials. They didn't show a single picture that was actually from Wyndot in any of their commercials.

^Of course you were told the pre show would be amazing. What type of person that is designing the preshow and ride would say that the preshow sucked? Also, having the highest rating of any concept isn't too hard to do its all in how you word stuff. If you say 90 degree drop in a heavily themed haunted mansion people are going to think cool, I doubt it has little to do with it being Adam's family themed, I think people just thought the description of the ride sounded really cool.

So how exactly have you ever gone to PKI in the first place. Before the building of the Great Wolf Lodge PKI hadn't had any type of on site hotel or place to stay. Does this mean that you have never supported PKI because they have never had "all forms of lodging"? Personally, I also have never supported PKI because they have never offered a nudist colony where I can stay at my leiure in between riding rides. "I will not support an organization that doesn't support all forms of lodging" that is one of the most idiotic statements I've ever heard, no park offers "all forms of lodging".
-
Yea if its a Gerstlauer Eurofighter I'm completely against the concept. Just what PKI needs another small, compact, low capacity ride. I mean each car only seats 8, even IJ seats 12 per train. Bring on a people eater, I don't care who makes it but PKI needs a new high capacity coaster. I guess SOB could be considered fairly good capacity but the last real people eater to be installed at PKI was Top Gun.
-
Depends completely on how well the ride was themed and what type of coaster was used for the ride. If the coaster is slower pased and just like your average wild mouse I'd say no, if the ride was something more intense and enjoyable I'd say sure. If its a Eurofighter, maybe depending on the layout. Now if they wanted to have the vertical drop or whatever I think a Maurer Sohne x-car coaster would be sweet it could start out like the vertical part like Sky Wheel and then have more unique elements added to it like G Force. The X-car coaster would work great because it would be an original ride and could fit into a small compact indoor adam's family mansion. Plus the flips are performed without ostr's and the type of train could be a spinner or drift maurer sohne. Click on the Xtended Roller Coaster and then you can look at the cool restraints and the different types of cars that could be used.

^Yea, reliable and safe, well besides that derailing on Big Thunder Mountain, Death on the Mars ride, Crash on the California Adventure, and so on. At big amusement/theme parks trains should not be derailing or crashing into each other... as far as I know even Six Flags can say that their trains aren't derailing and crashing.

Yep, I just saw that, looks fun and in most years I'd say it would probably win wooden coaster of the year, but in all honesty comparing that to Voyage, El Toro looks like nothing. Still a great looking coaster though and that turn around looks really cool, especially for an out and back. Well, we entered 2005 thinking PKI may lose all of its big three wooden records of length, speed, and height, but we leave 2005 knowing that PKI will hold on to all the records. Although, I'd much rather have the shorter El Toro or Voyage than SOB any day.

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
thejoker8388 replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
^I don't know if they've changed them or not but on the site they do claim "Completely New Gondola Design, Both Safe & Comfortable" and " Exclusive New Restraint System", so maybe they did redesign it? -
Well, they're killing off baby Beast so who knows what will happen to The Beast family lineage.

Ok, I was just looking to see what this Avatar is because I've never heard of it. It looks like Nickelodeon's attempt at Japanese Anime? The show itself looked absolutely horrible so hopefuly the rollercoaster itself is fun for all ages and I'd even be happy if Paramount skimpped on the themeing for this ride. Why in the world did they chose Avatar for the biggest attraction when barely anyone has even heard of it? -

Somehow I don't think a robocoaster would be too kid friendly. I mean the thing flips and rotates as it travels along seems like it would be a super intense ride no matter how old you are; it would probably scare the kids to death. Also, to add a possible ride for the Danny Phantom what about the Huss Fly Away, I don't know if it would be too intense for kids or not but I'm pretty sure the older kids and parents would enjoy it. I know lots of kids who although small, would be willing to ride anything that they're able to. Also under more info Huss says the ride is suitable for kids, teens, and adults, so it is possible. -
INTAMIN or B&M?
thejoker8388 replied to The-Snapper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^Haha, right over your head. Read his first post, he said he'd kill someone if they said they didn't like Intamin because they kill people. I was being argumentative, it just doesn't work when you have to explain it. -

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006

I wonder how exactly this new coaster will fit into the SGC area considering SGC has to have the smallest foot print of any coaster in the world. Even something the size of Reptar has a foot print 2 to 3 times as large. They'll probably build it into the woods right by SGC i'd assume. Also, I wonder how large the Spongebob walk thru will be. Slime Zone also has a very small foot print, unless if they build it more towards the stage. Also noting that SDC had a pretty short life span, only 7 years, but then again with that type of capacity its not a surprise. -
Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006

Oh please please. If the ride is some version of a Maurer Shone extended spinner I will love Kings Island for ever, best spinning mouse coasters ever. I've never been on a Gerstlauer spinner but I've heard they are also fun so I'd be happy with one of those two, although I'd prefer a Maurer Shone. I just don't know how a Maurer Shone would be a first of its kind, although with all the effects that the claim they can add to an extended those features may make it a "first of its kind". Like how the have the see-saw track and all kinds of other features. Now Ringmaster I hardly understand your logic. All Paramount Parks does is add rollercoasters? Man where have I been I could have sworn that the last major coaster PKI got was over 5 years ago. Not to mention that they spent around $20 million on TR:TR and Delirium, both of which aren't coasters. Not to mention PGA getting more coasters removed than added recently, PKD most recently adding TR:FF, and PC with the Nick addition. If anything I'd say that out of Six Flags, Cedar Fair, and Paramount, Paramount is the chain that needs to add some more large coasters. -
I guess there will always be cynics in every group. I personally think this is a nice gesture by Paramount and that's all there is to it. Sure, it may not help that many people and may not be that practicle, but it was meant as a nice gesture to those affected and that's exactly what it is. I'm sure there are alot more people around the Paramount parks relocated than people think. Just in my town of Worthington, a small suburb of Columbus, there are some 10 relocated families according to a newspaper story; so I'm sure that in a city like Cincinnati that is a hundred times larger, there are probably a fair amount of relocated families.
