Well for one thing the new lap bars give a better sense of being secured than the old buzz bars. I know when I went to Geauga Lake and rode Big Dipper, my girl friend and everyone else was freaking out because the bar didn't thouch our thighs. Personally, I loved it, they defineatly give a much better ride with better air.

^I disagree. Sure, PKI may never get a 300 foot coaster but it doesn't matter. If I want to ride something like that I make the 2 hour trip north. Still with the themeing, I consider FOF fairly heavily themed, although it could use refurbishing and FOF is one of my favorite coasters at any park. Also TR:TR is my favorite flat at any park outside of Disney which although not a coaster is heavily themed. I also find IJ:ST very fun for what it is. I don't know why everyone complains about IJ:ST, everyone I've ever ridden with has liked it, and these people were all the GP which is Paramount's focus, not the people on this site that just love to b*tch and moan all the time. And for what it's worth Paramount truely does know how to run a business whether you "know it alls" like to believe it or not. PCW's attendence increased 20 some percent last year and Paramount had the number 1 and 2 attended seasonal amusement parks. Sounds to me like Paramount knows what it's doing so everyone should lay off. Plus, for all you people who think Cedar Point is god and does every thing right take a look at attendence. They are down once again this year a 4% decrease from last year and last year was a 4% decrease from the year before, even after installing MaxAir and Castaway Bay and having as many here would claim "the best coasters ever". So although I would love like everyone else to see a huge steel coaster at PKI everyone needs to shut up because right now Paramount is the most succesful seasonal theme park chain in the country, whether you agree with how they do things or not. With their continued success I'm sure they don't give a sh*t what you whiners think. Also come on people Paramount isn't stupid. They know about the B&Ms and the Intamins and have refrained in most part from installing them. Why is this you ask? Well right now they can take a smaller, cheaper ride, add themeing and then name it after one of their movies. This way they not only advertise their movies but they also save money on paying for huge rides and the GP so far has been eating these rides up just as much or even more than the steel monsters at other parks. It makes perfect sense in every way as far as Paramount is concerned.

PKI isn't really home to many rides that are super intense. As far as feeling the G's and having a little bit of blurred vision Face Off is by far the most intense in that aspect.
-
Yep, PKI has 13, PKD has 12, PC has 12, and PGA has 8. But that's not the point. Quantity doesn't matter in the least, it's all about quality and PCW could use some quality coasters. Their two wooden coasters and IJ:ST are probably the closest things they have to world class. I'd much rather go to Holiday World with their soon to be 3 amazing wood coasters because all three are or will be amazing. Like I said quality, not quantity.

Geauga Lake is a horrible example. It has changed hands several times in the past couple of years and when it was run by Six Flags they destroyed it's fan base with over priced tickets and horrible service. Now Cedar Fair has to reestablish the fan base that it lost, which takes a while. Also, if you happened to look Geauga Lake is an exception getting $25million in expansion in two years. Cedar Fair will help a park out if it is really ailing (Geauga Lake) but typically due it as a ratio of how much you make is how much you get, which is perfect logic. That is why Cedar Point recieved 3 coasters costing a total of $60 million in a 3 year span, they were pulling in a lot of people, so they got a lot of stuff. And PCW Nut, your right PCW could use a large coaster, but you guys have recieved 2 coasters in 2 years so I think you may have to wait a while now. Although as you said with your increased attendence, which is now very close to PKI's I think PCW should continue recieving expensive investments.
-
^The reasons don't matter in the least, PKI is still getting much better attendence, therefore making much more money and therefore should get much more money spent on it. I wish Paramount ran it the Cedar Fair way, the amount of money you pull in is directly related to how much you get. Paramount seems to try and spread it fairly evenly amoung 4 of the 5 parks which is annoying if your PKI but a good thing if your PKD.
-
Actually I'm pretty sure PCW has a Mondial Revolution. They are similar in size to a Huss Giant Fribee and they have seats facing outward like Delirium and I know that PCW's seats face outward.
-
Why? The way I see it you guys have gotten Hypersonic and Ricochet since 2001, PKI has recieved Reptar and IJ:ST. I think PKD has the better of that situation so I don't know what your complaining about. PKD has a meager 2 million guests per year compared to PKI's 3.5 million a year. If anyone deserves a big sweet coaster its PKI more than PKD. Then again looking at all the Paramount parks, PGA deserves a new large coaster if for nothing else out of pity. They are by far the worst in the franchise and have had two major coasters removed without having one added. Both PKI and PKD should count their blessings that they aren't the red headed step child.

I'd have to disagree. X-Flight is very fun and extremly smooth and comfortable in my opinion. I'd also venture at a risk to myself and say that I enjoyed X-Flight much more to the B&M flier of Superman. I found Superman very comfortable and smooth but it was extremly boring, it barely did anything; X-Flight is at least 5 times more exciting in my opinion. That's right, I said it the Vekoma beats the B&M in this situation.

I'd have to go with fake on this one, even though it is also on coasterbuzz which usually deletes fakes, but still I think it's fake. PKD may be getting IJ:ST but I think that sign is fake. They would hold a press release and have all the other glitter and bs to introduce it like they always do. They wouldn't just put it on a sign without a press release first. And by the way, IJ:ST isn't that bad, but PKD could use a decent coaster with an actual lift hill.
-
I assume that you mean Storm Runner? Yes, it would be very nice to see PKI get a coaster like Storm Runner, although also very unlikely. Storm Runner is the future of Intamin launched coasters, not TTD or KK which are more novelty items than actual coasters. Something like Storm Runner with a couple more inversions, a little faster, and a couple thousand more feet of track would be an amazing ride that I would love to see at any park.
-
2 years ago? I thought it was five... Besides I'd much rather ride the shorter and slower IJ:ST than SOB any day. Also "more faster"? okay, maybe if you use actual grammar you will be rewarded. Also, when it comes to the best looping coasters in the world most people think of B&M. Most of their coasters are only around 120 feet or shorter and only go around 50 some mph, which I would hardly call fast or high.

Skippy, no I didn't ride either of the simulators. I wanted to ride the Dino one but my group didn't want to and although I didn't see the mars robot one, I did go on the pirate one when it was Sea World and it was fun. As I said before GL was very fun and I'm shocked at how few people go. It sounds like we are in agreement about the park and its aspects. Also, glad to hear they will be retracking Villain. Like I said the potential for the ride is amazing, the layout and all is great. Once they retrack it I will be sure to give it another ride. And for those who haven't been, go. Go now while there are still no waits because it is an amazing park and truely does hold its own with the other Ohio giants.

Any one ever been to Carowinds?
thejoker8388 replied to BeastVortexFan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If they were to add a spinning mouse, there is only one proper option. Forget Ricochet, they should install as I have been saying for some time a Maurer Söhne extended 3000. Although I have never been on one they look absolutly amazing and put a great new twist on your average spinning mouse. -
Well the day started off early at 7:30 to make the 2.5 hour trip up to Geauga Lake. We made great time until getting completly lost due to wrong Map Quest directions, I usually check to make sure Map Quest is correct, but forgot to do so this time and it got us completly lost, but we managed to find Geauga Lake eventually and got there about 11:00. The other problem was that Geauga Lake is very laking in signs. When you go to CP or PKI, they are impossible to miss with signs along the interstate many miles before you are there. Geauga Lake doesn't have any signs at all, We saw one the entire time and that was when we were already on the exact road that Geauga Lake was on. We actually saw more signs for CP than Geauga Lake, makes you wonder if more signs would help attendence. Well that was just a bad start to what was a great day. When we got there like what I have heard, no one was there, a couple thousand people there at most, it was deserted and I actually parked a row from the front even though we were there an hour after opening. This was my last trip to GL was before the Six Flags take over, so the whole park was essentially new to me. Dominator- Best ride in the park, got a total of 6 rides, there wasn't a completly full train the entire day. My group and I liked front the best and rode there 3 times, all without wait. The huge vertical loop was my favorite part and there were 2 surprising "pops of air". 10/10 Thunderhawk- Your typical Vekoma SLC, was only running one train and waits were probably the longest in the park with about a 15 minute wait. I actually enjoyed the ride and thought it was a very smooth SLC, no head banging. Compared to T2, the only other SLC I've been on, you'd never know the rides were the same layout made by the same maker, Thunderhawk was actually enjoyable. With that said considering it had the longest lines only rode it once. 8/10 Raging Wolf Bobs-I've heard this coaster was rough, it wasn't bad at all in my opinion except for the turn that slopes up by the station which was extremely bad. But over all a nice coaster, still only rode it once. 7.5/10 Villain- I had heard mixed reviews of this ride. Some saying it was highly underrated and deserved a top ten or others saying it was rough, group me with the latter. Villain was HORRIBLE, the only coaster I've ever actually been happy it was over. Compared to SOB it made SOB feel like a beemer, seriously. If you think SOB hurts your back then don't ride Villain, it will probably kill you. I typically don't find any rides rough, I'm very tolerant, but this felt like riding on a wood board with square wheels over gravel while being propelled by a jackhammer. The ride was also the most frustrating ride I've ever been on because the layout is amazing, tons of air potential, great head choppers. I don't know if it needs retracked or something besides g-trains, but if it was made smooth it would be amazing. Potential-10/10 Actual-0/10 Double Loop- A small Arrow looper. It was fun and surprizingly smooth (then again rode it after Villain so anything would feel smooth). It was a million times better than Corkscrew at CP. With that said still just a small Arrow Looper-7.5/10 X-Flight- The 2nd best coaster in the park. Rode it four times, once in front, found the front the best like Dominator. I enjoy this Vekoma Flyer much more than it's B&M competitor (Gasp). Better layout and not a snooze fest like Superman. Very comfortable and smooth for a Vekoma, really cool at night. 10/10 Steel Venom-Fun launched coaster. The launch doesn't compare to Wicked Twister, but still a fun ride and I actually enjoyed the strait spike that grabs you more than the second twisted spike like WT. Rode it twice. 9/10 Head Spin- Typical Vekoma Boomerang. I only rode it once and disliked it a lot, but in all fairness when I rode it I was feeling a little ill so my opinion may be off. Rough, not fun, luckly the train was waiting for us because even a minute wait wouldn't have been worth it. The Invertigos like Face Off are a million times better in my opinion for some reason, even though they have the same layout. 1/10 Big Dipper- It was as many said the surprize gem of GL. Surprizingly smooth for an 80 year old coaster, cool layout with some nice surprizing air. Only got to ride it twice, I wish I rode it more. Very fun and much better than out and backs like Blue Streak at CP, or Racer at PKI, much better. Once again as I said I was amazed at its smoothness, only downside is the cars themselves could use more leg room. 9.5/10 Wildwater Kingdom- Not very large yet and Boomerang Bay has it easily beat. With that said the three body slides on the huge slide complex (forget name) are the best body slides I've ever been on, very long twisty and fun. Also, although BB has it beat right now, after seeing what is planned for next year with two more slide complexes, wave pool, and more, Wildwater Kingdom will absolutley DESTROY Boomerang Bay. This year-8/10, Prediction for next year- 10/10 (amazing) Texas Twister- The first Huss Top Spin. The program was much better than TR:TR, but for some reason I still enjoy TR:TR MUCH better, don't know if it is the themeing or what but TR:TR is much better. Also, I hate how the restraints close themselves, mine was WAY too tight and caused much pain in the lower region, only rode it once due to this. 7/10 Starfish- A Chance Wipeout. First I've ever been on and it will be the last. I don't get motion sickness usually but this made me feel horrible 1/10 El Dorado- Fun car ride that revolved in circles, good view from top, but it had that horrible ride closing restraint system which was once again painful, luckily there weren't many G's-6/10 Time Warp-A Chance Inverter. Fun ride with some nice G's and some great illusions of running into a wall. But once again what is with these horrible ride locking restraints, horribly painful and much pain on the thighs. 5/10 W/O those restraints 8/10 Hay Baler- I love these Mack Swing-bobs. Like Matterhorn at CP. Very fun, good music and just plain enjoyable 8/10 Overall, I love Geauga Lake, it was a very fun time and I will surely go back. The only thing it is missing is maybe a nice longer launched coaster and a fast non-looping steel coaster. I was very surprized and pleased by the flats, it didn't look like they had anything but really they had a fair amount and they were all very fun (sans Starfish and those horrible ride closing restraints). I can't understand why no one goes. Let me once again stress the emptiness. All rides were walk ons beside Thunderhawk with a 10-15 minute wait and X-Flight with a one train wait (which at just about any other park I would consider walk on). Dominator, the best coaster, didn't have a full train the entire day, no exaggeration, and it was only running 2/3 trains. Towards the afternoon I actually recognized half the people on the midways because I had seen them earlier and almost every flat they actually had to start the ride up just for my group, every flat we rode we were by our selves, no joke. I believe if I were to go to PKI or CP in the next couple days I would actially hate both because of the waits. GL truely spoils you with no wait times. It was perfect weather, sunny all day. Geauga Lake is without a doubt 10/10.

Sounds like an interesting idea, almost a show and a ride mixed together. But as you already said it surely isn't a water slide. The problem I see is that I'm in no rush by any means to get shot at by Nazis.

That's why it's never down, it's new. As far as I'm aware Delirium has operated very consistently since it was built besides this break down which was unexpected and due to wear on the gear I'm guessing. Maxair wouldn't have this problem because it's new and hasn't had the wear and tear of several seasons that Delirium has had. Although, now that they know of this problem hopefully neither Maxair nor Delirium has long down time again.

Dumbest Rumors Ever Heard
thejoker8388 replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
PCW has track for a floorless coaster not being installed until 2008. Also what was it PCW is getting the world's longest, most inversion coaster that covers 190 acres. -
^Agreed, I guess it's popular to make rumors of large arrow coasters sinking into the ground.

Geauga Lake Questions
thejoker8388 replied to thejoker8388's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well my trip has been postponed to the 4th, but I'm looking foward to it. Thank you all for your input and help. Skippy, I'm actually kind of glad that Texas Twister doesn't soak. I hated the one at Kennywood because it didn't spin that much and all it did was soak me, although if next Thursday is hot I may be wishing that it did soak. -
Well looks like what some people feared is going to happen. This is obviously "Christmasfest" and not "Winterfest", it's not "holiday" it's "Christmas". I'm Christian so it's ok for me but I do understand how other denominations may be upset by this.

False, check out the gallery of SFFT at Lone Star Thrills. Boardwalk Canyon Blaster. Rides and roller coasters do sometimes get put in storage without being constructed. Checked it out and found nothing, could you provide a link or something.

Geauga Lake Questions
thejoker8388 replied to thejoker8388's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Thanks everyone for your help. About the attendence, did Geauga Lake ever have high attendence? I mean last time I went it was just a small park until the Six Flags take over. Then under Six Flags I don't think they ever got the attendence that they had hoped for, so now under CF it's probably getting the highest attendence it has ever had. One more question, I know they have the top spin Texas Twister, does this ride soak you like some top spins? -
I'm going to Geauga Lake for the first time in quite a long time next Friday. I had three questions for people that have visited it recently or remember what it is like, because I've forgeten since I last was there. 1. Which rides typically have the longest waits? 2. Are there any rides that maybe don't look that great but shouldn't be missed? (small flats and things of this nature) 3. Any recommendations on where to eat inside the park? All help is greatly appreciated.

Deliriumdreamer, yes Christmas is one of the biggest holidays for the Christian religion along with Easter. The only problem is that Christmas has really just become some what of a joke with all the commercializing. Christmas is now simply one huge commercial holiday and very few people even know what Christmas celebrates any more it seems. (It celebrates the birth of Christ, although no one actually knows when he was born Christmas is just used to celebrate his birth, not necessarily they day he was born because no one knows.) Also I've always found it a little odd that Christians recieve massive amounts of gifts for someone elses birthday, but maybe that's just me.
