Haha, I love that translated version. It's almost as hard to understand as the Japanese verion. Oh well, a million times better than I could do I guess. "While becoming frightened to the mask PC, the fact that it throws the northeast road, arrives to actual place was past o'clock of 6." "By yourself at you looked several waste 墟 which it can be wrapped in the fog, perhaps but the instantaneous there God has gotten off."

^Chang at SFKK is one of the roughest B&M's I've ever ridden, T2 is one of the roughest coasters I've ever ridden, period, both Thunder Run and Twisted Twins are fun but farily rough. When I went to SFMM, Psyclone was rougher than SOB, Viper was much more rough than Vortex, Deja Vu was broken and from what I hear those 3 are always broken, Scream was brand new and one of the rougher B&M's I've been on (still smooth but rough for a B&M), Flashback was actually open and possibly the most uncomfortable ride I've ever been on. At SFEG, Mind Eraser and Flying Coaster were rough and/or uncomfortable At SFOG, Ninja was very rough, Deja Vu was broken again, and GASM was about as rough as Racer, which I don't consider bad but some do. And then when Geagua Lake was owned by Six Flags, not much was wrong but Raging Wolf Bobs was really rough. So, no I haven't been to every Six Flags and yes I enjoyed all of my visits, but generally these parks had more rides that needed painting, retracking, weeding, repair, random rides big&small closed all day, etc... than you'll ever find at a Paramount or Cedar Fair park. So that's why I don't trust SFGAV to build a a huge wooden coaster and actually keep it in decent operating form. Now, I have heard SFGADV is doing a better job than most Six Flags, but still i have heard from many that many rides at SFGADV are in need of repair/painting. Also, they never run both sides of The Chiller from what I've heard. Also, I don't know where they'd put the coaster. If you look at this picture I don't know where it'd go. The new coaster is supposed to be built where viper is (the small coaster next to the white wooden one) Where would the coaster go? My only guess is that it would have to stretch across the river into that open field, but I doubt the city would let them build across the river like that, especially with a wood coaster that would need lots of supports.

If you actually read the post, you would realize that I wasn't talking about Intamin. I said the coaster may be very smooth but due to Six Flags maitenence the coaster would fall apart on itself, because whether its pre-fabricated wood or not, it still needs lots of retracking and Six Flags would stop doing it and it would fall to pieces. They wouldn't spend the amount of money needed to keep retracking it to keep it smooth. This dosen't require as you say "an expert" it's called common knowledge and simply examining Six Flags past record of letting coasters fall apart, so, if you're done being a smart a**...

^No, I really don't think that it will work. Technology has only progressed so far and some things still aren't possible, or if they are experience lots of problems ie. TTD and Kingda Ka. I don't think that a wood coaster 250 feet could be maintained, especially by Six Flags, they can't keep normal coasters running let alone a 250 foot woody. If they did build one it might be smooth the 1st year or two but then due to poor maitnence it would fall apart and become rougher than even SOB. Six Flags wouldn't be willing to spend the money to keep the coaster where it needed to be. Look at SOB, its still really rough, but PKI has put millions in it even after it opened just to keep it from getting even worse. Six Flags wouldn't spend that much, they'd just forget about it and have to tear it down. So yes, I could see Six Flags doing it, but I think the coaster would be rough and much worse than SOB which is well maintained, but still rough, just imagine what it'd be like at Six Flags. Also, if you want to get technical Magnum wasn't the first 200 foot coaster. That mark had actually been broken for 6 years by Moonsault Scramble at Fuji-Q Highland.

Information on Runaway Reptar Operations
thejoker8388 replied to Spider and the Fly's topic in Kings Island
^Yea, I figured the XC-3000 would be better, but there isn't one in the U.S so I don't think I'll be riding any, unless one comes to the states. I guess I might have to stop by at Lagoon if I'm ever in the area and check it out. -
Yea, if you think Vekoma has the SLC head banger, my lord, a wooden invert could possibly kill someone. Not to mention I see the idea a impossible, unless they did it like SOB, with all steel inversions and steel supports but just the actually track is wooden. Still I think that this is impossible and I would have to see this article for myself, but I won't say for sure that it is completely impossible because I have seen some crazy things in my life.

^Yes there is, check rcdb.com it confirms it, now the specs of the coaster are what hasn't been confirmed, its not actually sure to be built by intamin, although its very likely because the prefabricated board being sent to SFGADV is built by the company that Intamin uses for their wood coasters. Also it will occupy the land that is being vaccated by Viper, which is being torn down because its a TOGO piece of head banging crap.

Paramount's Kings Dominion
thejoker8388 replied to PKD4LIFE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I agree. PKD4LIFE... Rebel Yell goes 55mph, you think a offical park site is going to tell the truth over a database? That's like believing everything the Travel Channel says about Universal, Disney, or Cedar Point...... lies. And "I suggest you shoud that big dam hole in your mouth!" cause you're giving PKD and all fans of PKD a bad name. I was to state I have no affiliation with PKD4LIFE and anything he may say... I agree, you can't believe any park sites. Just because Cedar Point still has a sign saying TTD is the tallest coaster and the pre-ride recording still says that its the tallest and fastest dosen't mean that it actually is. Also, I agree with Firefall PKD in which park is the best is your personal preference. Technically some one could enjoy SFKK more than PKI and they would think SFKK is better than PKI and you couldn't convince them differentley by saying well PKI has more records, it dosen't matter, as long as they still find SFKK better. (now I know thats a stretch, but I think you understand the point.) -
Information on Runaway Reptar Operations
thejoker8388 replied to Spider and the Fly's topic in Kings Island
Sid, sorry I can't help about the operation of Runaway Reptar because I'm just a fan of PKI, not a worker, but I do have a question for you. I know Lagoon has Spider which is a Maurer Söhne Xtended SC 2000. I have seen pictures of theses coasters but never gotten to ride one, they look very fun. From personal experience what do you think of them? -
^^They also built Balder at Liseburg, I've heard its really fun as well. I don't know about the new coaster at SFGADV, I mean a wood coaster 250ft just seems too tall and extremely rough. I know the wood that Intamin uses is stonger and sturdier then normal wood but still I don't know. Also, with Six Flags being in such a bad financial state I don't see SFGADV getting another huge coaster next year. I mean they got Kingda Ka and the Golden Kingdom which was over 30 million. I just don't see Six Flags shelling out another 20 million or so the very next year at the same park, but I could be wrong. It would be interesting if they did because then SFGADV would have the world's tallest and fastest coasters in both steel and wood. ^Actually, SOB isn't the first looping coaster. It is the only current looping wooden coaster but there were several other wooden looping coasters back in the early 1900s or around there.

Longest wait was MF last year for about 2.5 hours. MF always seems to have really long lines no matter what the day, the rest of the park was almost empty with lots of walk ons but MF still had 2.5 hours. Now one day for TTD I probably waited 4 hours but not consecutively. I waited about an hour till it broke down, then another half an hour until we decided to leave line, then about 5 hours later it was finally working again so we went in line waited another 2 hours untill it broke down then half an hour later they got it working again and we got on. So I probably waited 4 hours in the TTD line before I actually got to ride it.

Paramount's Kings Dominion
thejoker8388 replied to PKD4LIFE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not according to RCDB.com. According to it Racer goes 61mph while Rebel Yell goes 56mph. And even though rcdb.com dosen't list The Racer's height it does list Rebel Yell's heigh at 85ft while this site pkicentral lists The Racer at 88ft. So therefore according to statistics Racer is taller faster and longer than Rebel Yell. Racer Rebel Yell -
Without a doubt I'd have to say Vortex, I mean the themeing is absoluetly world class, Disney dosen't have anything even close to comparing as far as the amount of themeing is concered. In reality I'd also have to say TR:TR

Hey, its not a big deal or anything, but I just wanted to let you know that the park map on this site is from last year. Like I said not a big deal but i just discovered it yesterday when I was trying to print a map for my sister who's never been to PKI, great job maintaining the site though.

^True, I'd much rather have a Vekoma flier then a Zamperela, but if I chose any flier I'd pick a B&M custom layout flier. B&M's fliers have better capacity and are more comfortable, but then again a B&M costs more then a Vekoma. I agree with you that the Tomb Raider themeing was wasted on the PCW tomb raider, but I guess its kind of like PKI's Face/Off or Drop Zone which have no themeing from the movies, they were just used because the names are good fits for the rides.

I think you may be surprized how much of the wood is still original. I can't find the picture but I know there was one a couple years back that showed the moss that is growing on the wood from when there used to be a pond by Beast's lift hill. But agree with you that especially in the places where strong forces occur all the wood will have been replaced sometime or another.
-
Well the Zamperela model is also probably five times cheaper and can fit in a layout 1/6 the size. You can't really compare the two. Its kind of like comparing a B&M to a shuttle loop.

What ride is overrated at kings island
thejoker8388 replied to vortexdemon05's topic in Kings Island
Yep, I ride it now and I'd ride it even more without the loop; they could put a air hill there instead. Without a loop all of Sob's problems would be solved; without the loop there wouldn't have to be those special crappy trains that they have now and they could put some PTC's or some fliers, making SOB ride much better with some leg room. -
^Yea, I see what you mean. Steel Phantom was more overhauled then just added to. I still think they could do it with Beast although like I said before I don't think they will. They could add after the second hill and helix without having to recalculate much forces, just the added track section. But still a very unlikely senario whats more likely is when Beast gets alot older then it is now like 20 years from now they might do something like what they did to Thunderbolt at Kennywood, where essentially they do a major reworking of the existing coaster and for all purposes turn it into a new coaster. They might do this to say that the legendary Beast still exists but to have it updated to be more modern and thrilling.
-
I've also heard that the Zamperela fliers are really uncomfortable. I haven't heard anything good about them but who knows. Its different from ours for the simple fact its just a name. PCW probably wanted a new roller coater and Paramount wanted to theme it to Tomb Raider so they did. Just since a ride has the same name it dosen't mean they have to be anything alike.
-
Personally, I would rather ride Gemini then any thing else in the park, Millenium Force included. I don't know what it is but Gemini never has long lines and usually during the ride all I can do is smile and laugh. Gemini just like The Beast may not be that tall or that fast but both offer a much more fun ride then almost any other roller coaster around. Say I'm doing drugs, I don't care, Gemini and The Beast are still two of my favorite coasters after all these years.
-
The Beast is no longer rated one of the best anymore. I dont even think it is in the top 50 any more. Depends what rating you look at. It's ranked top 50 in every poll that I've seen but its in the 40's on some. Now if you look at what many parks consider the most important set of awards, The Golden Tickets, Beast was ranked 6 in 2004, so its top ten in what lots of parks consider the most important poll, not to mention number 1 in the Coasterbuzz.com poll just finished around a month ago. So yes Beast is still ranked really high and is still very respected around the coaster world.
-
^Oh, its happened. Probably the best example is Phantom's Revenge (Steel Phantom) at Kennywood. In 2000, it had its four loops removed and the total length of the track increased a couple hundred feet. So it could happen to The Beast but I don't see them doing it due to the cost, but who knows, I always felt that the train has too much speed left coming into the station after the second hill and helices. They could add a couple air time hills or something after the helix but like I said before, really really unlikely.
-
Good question its not what I'd really call clear cut. The ride itself I would consider sitting in Coney/River Town but the entrance itself is clearly in River Town, so I would consider it a River Town ride. Now if the entrance was on the opposite side it would probably be considered a Coney ride but due to the entrance I would consider it River Town. Plus, River Town seems to be getting all the movie themed rides now that aren't in Action Zone.

^Haha, yes I have heard the same crazy rumor; it won't happen I can assure you of this. Holiday World is a great little family owned park, but its just that, a little family owned park. While I do believe that HW is building a new coaster it won't be the longest, the cost would be way too much for HW to be able to cover. So hopefully HW will build another amazing wood coaster but I can guarentee you that it won't be nearly as long as The Beast. As far as there being no point in The Beast I still stand by the fact that I believe it offers one of the best if not the best night rides of any roller coaster around. I also personally believe that The Beast still offers an amazing day ride too but maybe thats just me. So I still strongly feel that even if The Beast's record is broken it will still be an amazing ride. And no its not taking up land space, if PKI really wants to expand which they haven't seemed to apt to in the last years, but if they do there is other land that would be cheaper and much more practicle like the land behind FOF. I can't even believe I'm wasting my time debating something like will The Beast be removed.
