IJST Launches Into Public View!
thejoker8388 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
With the whole physics thing though actually on IJ:ST it works differentely then on a normal coaster with a lift hill. With the normal lift hill yes the coasters always go faster with more weight as has already been explained. In a launch coaster such as IJ:ST if they keep the launch power that it is now with people it won't make it through the helix. Just basic physics again to get something with more weight moving at the same speed as something with less weight more energy is required. So yes they will for sure be cranking up the power of the LIMs and has been explained already it will go faster through the rest of the course. I'm not sure if IJ:ST has it but I know that some lauch coasters have scales on them. The scales measure the weight once the passengers are in and decides how much energy is required to launch a train to the desired speed. I know Dueling Dragons also has this to make sure the two trains arrive at the intended destination at the right time to give the "dueling" effect. Also, last year if any one remembers SOB valleyed after the loop, not sure how they got the train off that time though, assuming they removed the track. -
IJST Launches Into Public View!

^So do you feel the ride will be fun or not? I mean it does look really short but in the video I saw Jeff claimed it was close to 2 minutes, but I don't see how that's possible. Oh well, to me it looks like it will better then an Adventure Express but not like an extreme thrill ride or anything which we knew it wouldn't be. I don't think the speed is bad at all I mean going through the police cars it looks like its whipping around pretty fast the only slow part is the top of the helix. My only disappointment is I though it would be at least another 20 seconds long. -
CombatStupendous, I know what you mean, but personally I don't really find Nick or his style of music offensive. It's pop he knows its pop and he dosen't act like its not. I don't really mind any "pop" people because they stick to their music and we can all just be like its pop it sucks who cares. The people I hate are the posers such as Avril Lavigne, Ashley Simpson, Good Charolette, who claim to be punk when they are really just as pop as Nick. These people give a bad name to the actually punk such as the Clash, Sex Pistols, Against Me, etc. The posers are the ones I really hate, I don't understand why they jsut don't admit they're pop, its really annoying.

Combat Stupendous, although I am indifferent to Nick Lachy I think throwing ice cream at him and slapping him would be ill advised. I can imagine it now you slap him and start laughing, then 4 steroid raging body guards come and break bones in your body you didn't even knew you had. Believe me Nick would have the last laugh.

Theater at bush Gardens

I haven't been to the one in Tampa but I did go to the one similar to it when there used to be a Sea World in Ohio. It was about pirates but it was the same with the spitting water and stuff. It was pretty fun, but I personally like the moving seats in the FX theature better, although a combination of both rides would be cool. -
Yea, its a good showing but I always find the Coasterbuzz Awards a little stupid. I mean the polls are very biais. Cedar Point dosen't have the 4th best theme out of parks, heck it really dosen't even have much theme at all. Also, although PKI does have decent capacity it isn't the second best. I mean it's cool to see PKI do so well but these polls are a little funky.
-
Yes, when I said I didn't want PKI to get a clone of something I meant the layout. I wouldn't want the layout to be the same as MF, but I really would like to see PKI get an Intamin hyper or giga coaster.
-
^I don't believe so FOF was built at the same time as the one at PKD. KC was built before the one at PKD or PCW. And Racer although similar is different then Rebel Yell and was built before. All of PKI's rides that are the same as another parks were built at the same time like IJ:ST. Unless you consider Face Off a clone becuase of the boomerang shape, but i think it was the first built with seats facing each other so I'm not sure if thats a clone or not. I'm personally glad PKI dosen't have many clones and I would hate to see an MF clone at PKI. I mean MF is sweet but if I want to ride MF I will drive up to CP and ride it. If PKI gets a hyper or giga I hope its unique and found no where else. That's the problem with Six Flags they repeat way to many of their rides at way to many parks.

^Yes, but BB's admission is free with the purchase of a normal ticket just like how Action Zones admission is free. Really if you think about it BB is just another "zone" or "land" of PKI, BB is a part of PKI, Soak City isn't a part of CP. So really BB is a part of the theme park because its included with normal admission, its just multiple attractions that get you wet, kind of like a WWC.
-
^Maybe it's just where you ride? I don't know but I never seem to get any air on MF. Is the back or front better because I'll have to try it again this summer to see if I can catch some of this air becuase I love air.

They must not have realized how much stress the swinging of the cars caused. The Bat's trains had shock absorbers on the top of the train, I'm assuming that they figured these shocks would absorb all of the stress, which in a way they did considering they had to replace shocks weekly. It also wasn't just the non-banking it was also the way the brakes were made. The Bat was made with brakes on the bottom instead of the top like suspended coasters today. The brakes on the bottom of the track also created large amounts of stress. Also, like said before the banking wasn't the only problem. After they realized the lack of banking was a problem they actually replaced some of the curves and banked them, but it still didn't help. Overall, The Bat was just poorly designed in every way, but this can be expected from a prototype coaster that was built before the days of computers to help with the center line of the coaster.

Player, yes, parks do typically run amount of trains on attendence but if you've ever attended several Six Flags parks you'll know that they run 1 or 2 train ops on the most popular rides on the most crowded days. PKI does an amazing job compared to lots of parks at capacity. And no, half the people aren't at the water park, believe me 15,000 people aren't at BB during any one time you wouldn't be able to move if there were that many people.
-
^It dosen't though not even close FOF dosen't even hit 1,000. But still if you want to look at it Vortex, Top Gun, and Ae are monster people eaters and Beast, SOB, Racer, and Beastie all pretty good people movers too. I mean to say PKI is the only park with low capacity rides is stupid even CP has Disaster Transport which always moves slow and has long lines even though it blows, Power Tower, Wicked Twister, Wildcat, all are slow I mean every park has low capacity rides. Even MF can have poor capacity depending on how long they take to dispactch trains, so its not just PKI its every park. If you look at almost any six flags parks besides SFGA which is the exception they have horrible capacity. Usually running 1 maybe 2 train ops on all their rides. PKI looks like the greatest capacity ever compared to Six Flags, so really PKI isn't that bad at all in there capacity. You also have to look at the amounts of people PKI gets. Last year they got more attendence then any other seasonal park. This means that they will have longer lines then most parks simply because of the volume of people.

Elitescr3, after the Preztel the rides practicaly over. The hill returning off the island gives a little air time and then the only other thing that there is is that tiny hill passing the station and that little thing probably has the best air of the whole ride. I don't know how MF can be considered to have "massive" air time when you have something like Magnum in the same park. MF only has a little more air then The Beast and thats saying something, cause Beast dosen't have air. Now I'm not saying I don't like MF cause I love MF just like Beast but come on neither of these rides have air and there not built to, they're built to feel out of control and feel fast which is what both of them are.
-
Yea I had the wrong name all the Supermans are confussing. And yes it is a hyper cause it's under 300' but I think I can see we agree that MF really dosen't have much airtime. All the air time is on Magnum.
-
^MF dosen't have massive air time, in fact it has very very little air time. MF is all about speed, not air. If you want to feel air time on an intamin giga try Superman Ultimate Escape at Six Flags New England, that has air. But yes I would like to see an Intamin giga but I'd want it more like S:UE then MF.

Action Zone in no way needs a new coaster, that is the last area that needs a new coaster, I mean Action Zone is way too crowded as is, another coaster would be rediculous. I think rivertown or coney need a new ride.
-
Yep it got a paint job, but its still the same colors. Personally I like the colors.
-
Yea actually same thing happened to me. We were half way up the hill then stopped and I wondered what in the world had happened because I couldn't see anything since I was in the first row. Eventually though they started it up again and I realized that someone wasn't secured.

I think out of the five parks PKI, PKD, PC, PCW are all pretty close in the amount and size of rides they offer. I feel these four parks are all fairly close overall, the only Paramount park that isn't in the same league is PGA, which is fairly crappy in ride selection compared to all the other parks.
-
I think you people are clearly forgetting how much something like this at PKI costs. Once every 4 years my company just rents a shelter at PKI and we buy tickets for our employees and their family. There are about 150 employees at my company and we usually buy around 1000 tickets. The cost for something like this is very expensive, lets just say its easily over 30,000 dollars and thats not to rent the park out its just for 1000 tickets and usually 2 shelters. I can't even imagine the price to rent out PKI considering on the weekends it can easily have 30,000 people there.
-
^I'd have to agree with your evaluation. I've only been to PKD once but I liked it alot. I think in a straight roller coaster comparison PKD has the edge, but I still like PKI better and this is because of the flats and other experiences.
-
I'm confused about the whole tower hight thing. I know PKD says that their 305 foot tower is the tallest drop ride, while PKI says that their 315 foot gyro drop is the tallest. Is a gyro drop not considered a drop ride or what? I don't get it. I mean a gyro drop is still a drop ride so wouldn't it be the tallest drop ride I don't understand. PKI's tower PKD's tower Can any one clear this up because its confussing me.
-
I've seen several people talking about PKD's B&M's, PKD dosen't have any B&M's. It and PKI are the only Paramount parks without one. PKD does have the only Intamin coaster out of all the Paramount parks with Volcano though.

Yea, that's what I meant the S standing for shoulder obviously. Just wrote it down wrong.
