i thought that a hyper coaster was a lable givin to any roller coaster between the height of 200-299 ft. mainly because they called Son of Beast (when it still had the loop) a hyper-twister coaster. but then about two or three weeks ago coasterkidman had the def. of a hyper coaster which said what you posted. I believe that Mega coaster is the term for any coaster between 200-299ft.

Yeah, I was about to mention that one. You should use The Racer as the first "bigger" coaster test for your son but should ride Adventure Express before that just to get ready. It's smaller and only goes about 35mph but has some sharp turns so you do get whipped around some (marked by the fact that it's rated a 5). It used to be my favorite ride when I was younger.

I don't know about that. I mean Flight of Fear has been open since 96 and, in my experiences, still has at least a 20-30 minute wait on normal weekdays (whereas Vortex is about 10-15). People seem to love the launch on FoF and I'm guessing love the experience of flying on Firehawk.

I had a feeling that's what you meant but I just wanted to say that I have seen people breaking this rule. I know at Holiday World they have a person stationed at the path connecting their water park and main park making sure everyone is dressed properly and won't let them return to the main park if they are not.

From the park map: I have always interpreted that to mean that you can't wear just a swim suit in the main park, but just like the smoking rules, it's normally not enforced (I see girls in bikini tops on a fairly regular basis). I do want to point out for men that you should either a.) buy swim suits that don't have little metal rivets or buttons (since a good amount do) or remove them from your suit before you get to BB. The workers at BB do enforce that rule and many guys are turned away from using the water slides since they have them on their suits. I would agree that you should start with The Racer (preferably the Red side since they just re-tracked it) since that's more of a middle-sized ride as well as Top Gun Flight Deck. As for foot wear, I always wear my athletic shoes every where so I don't have to deal with another pair. Normally I would stop by the car before and after BB to get/put back my swim suit and towel and to eat. A good amount of people do wear their swim suits under a regular shirt and shorts so you can do that as well. I would suggest that if you plan on riding the water rides in the park (like Wild Thornberry's, White Water Canyon, or Congo Falls) that you keep your suit on while you ride those. That's all I have for now. Except that I hope you have a great time :-)

In front of the waterfall at Ol' Paramount Story (I don't even know if that area has a new name or not).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebar I was guessing PH 3 might deal something with like Phase 3, but I have no idea.

The pictures were actually taken by my brother, ThaneOfPriceHill... I just post them on here for him. But I'm sure he'll appreciate your applause.

Sign me up! Agreed. Walking The Beast for the first time was amazing.

Haha, yeah. Because it's not like it was that far away either. They had a open field but chose to put it right by the path.

*EDIT* Sorry I meant to put 6/25... Northern Warren Ohio was under a Thunder Storm watch tonight till 5:45. The rain stopped about when my brother and I arrived at the park (about 6ish) yet the rides started to close. On our way to the construction site, we saw the 80s show going on. Check out the awesome wigs: We got there just in time for the finale. Afterward we walked around BLSC to Ol' Swan Lake. It's good to see that they've already started to landscape the ride and it hasn't even been announced: Since The Beast was closed, we decided to walk back the Crypt exit to see what we could. It looks like they've started to store rebar back there: ...and they are marked. Like "LOAD/UNLOAD STATION": "KINGS IS. RIVERTOWN PH 3" And probably the most shocking and awe inspiring picture from the trip : and o yeah, this might help... All pictures

I think it would be cool if a bunch of people from KIC went. The course would obviously not be complete if the finish wasn't a recreation of the route the Brady Bunch took to relay the ride plans to the front of the park. The canoes are no longer there and there'd be no run through the antique cars but I think it'd still be awesome

Photo TR: A pleasant and unexpected visit.

Awesome trip report! I love this photo as well! Simply beautiful. I love how you cannot see anyone besides the conductor, like you were there for a photo shoot. All of your pictures looked incredible. Amazing trip report. -
Last year, The Beast cleared up a headache I had.

Last year I mostly went on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This year I've gone a good amount on Friday evenings from like 5-7. It's never been too crowded for me (except for the two Saturdays I went). If you were looking for a park giving away their least busiest day, I'm pretty sure a couple years ago The Beach Waterpark charged less for admission on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It's always been a tradition of my family that when ever we went to Chicago (to visit relatives) we'd eat at Ed Debevic's (a 50's/60's theme restaurant). I would also suggest going to the top of the Sears Tower if you never have and the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier like MarketingExpress has stated. You could also try to schedule it around a Reds game up there if you're a fan. I have been to a couple Reds/Cubs games at Wrigley.

What times have you been entering the park? I have only gotten my pass checked on opening day as well but that was the only time I've entered the park before 5 pm.

Interesting... because it does say 6 moments of inversion so they probably are counting that section of track as one corkscrew (like everyone else has said).

I am entitled to say what I have seen! I notice my other post was deleted, now again, what time does the parking lot open? To say what you have seen is one thing to but to apply what you have seen to all times (including times where the opposite has happened) is "quite silly." Now if you have actually watched the booth to the entrance of the Gold Pass lot all season, then you can say... But obviously you haven't been watching that booth all season because we have an employee saying that they were in fact there for 3 hours the other day and an outside source saying they have seen people checking on more than one occasion.

I hear a lot of people say that but I was kind of disappointed with my ride on Mean Streak last year. It was kind of slow and not rough. Great report though. Awesome pictures. My personal favorite was TTD inside of Power Tower. It would've been even better if you could have also gotten the top of Power Tower in the shot but still really sweet.

What happened to Pepsi Python? I work at Riverbend and noticed at a concert a week ago that a Pepsi Python car was stuck right before the first drop. It looked very odd.
