  1. A nice trip report with photos over at Coaster Force... http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/viewtop...499187%23499187
  2. [Harrison Ford Impression]Wet socks... I HATE wet socks![\Harrison Ford Impression] But seriously, there's nothing I can't stand more than walking around in wet socks. A wet shirt can keep you nice and cool on a hot day but wet socks just annoy me; totally uncomfortable. My family and I were down at Disney World for Tropical Storm Alberto back in 2006. It rained almost all afternoon three separate days. One of them I was smart enough to wear sandals but the other two days, you guessed it, I was walking around in wet socks with wet shoes. If it wasn't for the fact that I was at Disney World, I probably would've been super p***ed off lol (side story: Our first ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was taken during a good amount of rain. We went to lunch right afterward. When we were done eating the rain had let up so we decided to get back in line for BTMRR to ride it without rain. Well wouldn't you know it that the second the train pulled into the station, it started raining again. So as we left the station and went up the first lift hill, everyone on the coaster was scrambling to put on their rain coats. It was quite humorous.)
  3. Yeah, definitely agree. The best situation might be to drive in the morning the first day, spend the night in a cheap hotel room, and spend a 3/4 day at the park the next day and drive back. Great photos by the way.
  4. My girlfriend has a 2 day pass and we used the first day earlier this week. We asked Guest Relations if the second day could be used for Halloween Haunt and they said yes.
  5. Buyer beware, I guess. How much did they pay for it? I looked and couldn't find anything. Could they not find someone/thing better than Wikipedia or is that finally a reliable source?
  6. And there's also supposed to be a curve at the bottom of the first hill and the trains aren't the right the correct type, they're four across. It's just a model. Watch the animations at www.kiDiamondback.com to see what it will actually be like.
  7. I'm not sure Rip Ride and Rockit will win that. To me, the overall layout of the coaster is ugly. Yeah, but I was thinking more about the overall experience (with the music). It seems like a nice idea I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  8. words cannot express how brilliantly funny that was
  9. Was it just me or was anyone else picturing this when they read the title of this topic?
  10. How about looking at these three lists? Top 10 Tallest Coasters in North America Top 10 Biggest Drops in North America Top 10 Fastest Coasters in North America Diamondback is on all of them. I don't think people in this area realize how spoiled we are with having Kings Island and Cedar Point so close. 230 feet and 80mph is big. I predict it will win the Golden Ticket for 2009 Ride of the Year (or come in a close second behind Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit) and could very well appear on the top 10 Steel list.
  11. There is a 2 day pass, which does not have to be consecutive days. And it's more like buy one get the other half off.
  12. I don't think I could agree with you more. My head almost exploded when I saw it. Post 900
  13. If I could start camping out today, I would.
  14. Then why is the picture for the renewal link on the website of a Platinum pass?
  15. Yeah, Hades looks pretty amazing. How would you rate it compared to the Voyage and The Beast and *insert other wooden coasters you've been on here*?
  16. Then won't it need to be about 320 feet tall?
  17. There's your mistake....don't go to the one on Kings Mill, but do the North Montgomery Rd. one instead!! You'll lounge in air conditioned desolateness! Not only was it busy but there was just a toilet and urinal in the men's bath room with no separator. This wouldn't have been bad if the door locked.... or even shut all the way lol
  18. It was the phones by the bathrooms by ... Racer or BLSC. I forget now but they were by a bathroom. Haha yeah. It also says it in line for FoF.
  19. I went to Kings Island Sunday the 3rd with my girlfriend. We arrived at the parking lot at about 11:30 and since it was unbelievably hot, we went to Boomerang Bay first. The line for Tasmanian Typhoon was long (as always) so after a dip in the wave pool, we went to the other side of BB. Down Under Thunder then Crocodile Run (which had a long line by the time we got off) then Bonzi Pipeline and finally Awesome Aussie Twister. One thing I would like to say is that there has to be a better way for guests to obtain an inter tube on Crocodile Run. As of right now, it's basically a free for all and all the nearest life guard does is just yell at you if you go past a certain line. Maybe the best fix would be if they could re-station the life guards so one can hand out inter tubes to guests. Obviously not something that would be on top of KI's list but would still be nice. Also something that would be nice is if there were large signs at the entrances to BB that restated the policy that men can not have rivets or zippers or any metal on their trunks. I saw at least one guy get sent back down the stairs on each of the slides I rode Sunday. I realize that it is stated in the park map but not everyone gets one and not everyone reads it. It would just be nice so guys don't get in a 15-20 minute line and then get told at the top they can't ride. Now back to the regularly schedule TR: We didn't plan on spending that much time in BB because this was her first trip this year. We were there for about an hour and a half and then left for Wendy's and came back to the park. Wendy's was pretty packed. It looks like more people are feed up with the food prices but I have no stats to back it up. Since we wanted to let our food sit and knew we were going to wait in line for it anyway, we went to Firehawk right away. Good ride and saw the new track over there. Does anyone know what those buildings are for next to Firehawk (and I'm not talking about FoF, Terpy)? It looked like some of the track was station track fitted with wheels to slowly propel the train after loading. Could/Would KI be fitting the track with the mechanisms for the station back there? Or would that already be done? Just a thought I had. So after Firehawk it went... Racer (smooth red), AE, (waited 10-15 for Delirium but it broke down for a while), Drop Tower, SoB, Flight Deck, Vortex, Beast, Crypt, FoF. We left about 8ish. Now for the pictures... I don't remember this sign before: Or the Coney Mall Oven: which ironically is right outside AE in Oktoberfest. It looks like the toll phones still say Paramount: It looks like this stand could be carried away by a forklift: Was Shia LaBeouf here? A reference to the movie Holes, if you were confused. The reroute of the Crypt exit: And in a true move of nostalgia the FoF pre-ride video was playing. The UFO hanger and the station looked more lit up than normal too. For all the photos... http://picasaweb.google.com/welchce/20080803 Fin.
  20. There was a topic concerning a person complaining to KI about Wings Buffet. This has nothing to do with that other than tells about a change in Disney's policy with comment cards. I found it really interesting. SOURCE: http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al080508c.htm half way down
  21. Yeah, I noticed that as well but I think they are using it to throw people off. It's almost too obvious.
  22. You can always go to Google Maps and try to look at the area behind SoB to try to get a feel for the layout. Going to Windows Live Maps is also good because they have the "Bird's Eye" view.
  23. I guess you could always ask these guys.
  24. I've got some nice air time we I rode it with my friends. Three of them played lineman in football in high school so we got some nice speed going on there. But none of us fell out. But I guess as long as you don't hold on and obey the rules of the ride, anything is possible. But it happening at Kings Island... well you read the other people's posts.
  25. Double, double toil and trouble. Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. See, I can quote Shakespeare too.
