I’m not sure if they qualify as cheap...because at $8.99, buying just a few adds up quickly...but the ride collectors pins are still currently my favorite park items. There are SO many to choose from...and they are done well. (I hope the park keeps different ones coming for at least a few more years. ) A close second...and cheaper in cost, would be the new ride collectors patches. These are also done REALLY well...and they are only $4.99 each. (Both are available in The Emporium on the same rack.)

Let’s face it...the tower employees are just asking for it by asking everyone...”Does anyone have any questions?”.

I always pull up the front end of The Monster...those have to keep getting “heavier” for the ops as the day goes on.

Hopefully they will let them grow...but they could just keep trimming them yearly to keep them small.

It sounds cool to be able look back in the future...I’m sure things would appear cheap...but, right now, I wouldn’t want to know how much I actually spend when I come to the park each time!

@KIghostguy I was too lazy to go back and look who said it! When you posted that, you gave me hope that at least if we were going to lose the trees we would gain that effect....I also stand by my opinion, they still look smaller to me! I guess it’s because before, it was hard to get a complete look at most of the buildings separating, now you can see down an entire strip of the buildings all at once. (Left or right, depending on which side of the light poles....I mean fountain , you are standing on.) i’m glad The effect worked for you...and you may be right....it just (unfortunately) didn’t work for me!)

Finally made my first trip to the park this week...so my opinion of the new International Street: First off, I think the park shouldn’t have did their teaser campaign to insinuate that it would look so close to what It did back in 1972...they should have just hyped that they were revamping it, that way people wouldn’t be disappointed when things they were hoping would return, didn’t. I can’t say enough about how nice the buildings look! The new paint jobs are vibrant...and I love all of the detailing...truly a labor of love. The new pavers are also great looking, I like the various colors. The tables are nice...I hope they hold up well out in the elements. I miss the big trees. If the old ones had to go because of age I can forgive the park for removing them...but if they were removed in order to improve the look of I.S. I think they failed. I.S. now looks too barren for my taste. I can’t imagine sitting at one of those tables on an 80 plus degree day this summer. Someone also mentioned that they thought that the large trees ruined the forced perspective of the buildings...I think the opposite is true, the buildings look smaller to me now...still great looking, but smaller. Finally, as I mentioned earlier, when the park teased that the new I.S. would remind people of what it was like back in the day...what it meant to me was: No more flag poles blocking the tower/fountain view! Obviously I was disappointed to find them still there. Why couldn’t they have moved them to either the other end of the fountain, or the top of the International Restaurant wile they were redoing everything?! (I will reserve my opinion of the fountain until it is supposedly completed.)

Today’s lesson: Irony.

I love all of the detailing...thanks to everyone at the park responsible.

As some people seem thrilled that this thread is approaching 100 pages....like that is important, I would like to remind everyone “It’s quality over quantity”. I have never seen a thread that has so much regurgitated, redundant information...then you add on the posts that should have been personal messages instead of posts and it is no wonder this thread is a beast. (Pun intended) If all of the redundant and PM type posts were eliminated, this thread would be at a very informative AND enjoyable 30 or so pages...instead of the mass that it is. I don’t blame the mods for staying quiet...where would they even start?!

Out of all of us, I guess Joshua is at least now a “certified” enthusiast.

If only the members of the Warren Commission had half the imagination as some of the posters on here!

Since I know I’m destined to end up in Hell anyway...at least now I have something to look forward too. Defiantly?! (Oh you rebel you!)

If it is like the two previous years, you can load any picture on your card to have digitally...and/or purchase a print for $5.00. It is an EXCELLENT bargain!
-
I’m surprised to see tables in the “balcony/extension” areas...during the construction I just assumed those would be the areas that you would walk up to to get a closer look at the fountain...and maybe a photo op.

The irony factor was too great for me to ignore....maybe you need to get your s**t together while you are composing a post! (No hard feelings...just giving you a hard time. )

Did you accidentally post this in the wrong thread....I wasn't sure if this was your entry in the "KIC 2019 Season Contest'" slogan contest.

^That is awesome!

They could steal a line Steve Martin used to describe one of his television specials back in the day... ”It’s fine, wholesome entertainment for the whole d*mn family”. (The auto sensor kept changing the word that holds water back to darn...so I had to post it like that!)

I know/hope you’re kidding...be careful, I got so burnt 2 years ago that I was worried that I had done myself permanent damage. (I could have filled a pop/soda can with the pus that bubbled all over my body...it was scary.)

I have not made it to Carowinds... yet. One of the things I love about Kings Island is how most of their coasters are isolated/buried out of sight. Looking at Fury 325, it's a nice looking coaster...looks very Scooby-Doo-ish to me...but it's a shame it ends up right by the parking lot. Is Carowinds "land locked"?

GLOCKENSPIEL TO RETURN FOR Kings Island’S 2019 SEASON
standbyme replied to nhimes90's topic in Kings Island
This is another example of why I love Kings Island so much, it is not just about the rides, it's also the atmosphere. Thanks to everyone that made this happen! (As for the inside, I am perfectly happy with the decor and the level of the lighting... I do wish they would turn down the volume on the shows to make it a little more tolerable...it's not the quality of the shows, it's the volume that drives us away sometimes.) -
Nice to see one of your excellent trip reports after all these years! Thanks for taking the time to do it. It looks like the park was easily within walking distance...or is that an illusion? (Until the owner recently sold it, my family and I would rent a small house about a block from The Great Wolf Lodge. Some of us would just walk back from the park after Halloween Haunt...is it farther than that?) I couldn't have eaten that meat...definitely to rare for me. (I like how we as a society use the term rare instead of raw... because asking for something like medium-raw would sound to gross! )

These are great! Every time a new batch comes out I am amazed...because to me , they appear to be a niche item. I can’t picture the park selling a too many of most of these designs, so to me they are more of a labor of love, not something pumped out for a big profit...which makes me like them even more. I will be picking all of them up! (I love it when a souvenir item is exclusive to Kings Island...compared to any item that could be sold in any Cedar Fair Park...like the majority of Planet Snoopy items.)
