  1. No matter how I try and take this comment I think i'm offended...since I do admit to being a park "enthusiast"...I guess I would have to fall into one of two catagories... the most I can hope for is to be a "whiney enthusiast"...which isn't great but, if I don't fit there, that means I am simply average and would fall into the "typical whiner" catagory...that would disappoint me also...I try to NEVER be average!
  2. It's when you put it over your bed that you know you have crossed the line.
  3. You're giving the park more credit than I do...I don't believe that there really is a "naming staff". (And that isn't a joke.)
  4. That is how I feel when I go to Kings Island, I like seeing something "different"...but that is because I go often enough...the same is not true for me with WDW, when I go there I want everything to be perfect. On my first trip to Disneyland the castle was being worked on...it had tarps all around the front...do you know how disappointing that was.
  5. Chris, Thanks for sharing your photos....it makes the offseason go by a little faster!
  6. Different people like different things...my family seems to be satisfied with about half a day at Animal Kingdom...but I know of others on this board who could spend days there! You should use the search feature and look for the Disney trip reports here. (Narrow your search by only searching for Disney in the thread's title.) You could also PM "Avatar", he is very nice and has helped a lot of us with Disney tips..i'm sure he could send you to a few Disney sites that would be helpful. (Planning IS everything!)
  7. Thanks for the report...and the pictures!
  8. First, I am an admitted Scooby/Spongebob fan, so what I am going to say next needs to be considered with that in mind. I partially agree with The Interpreter...it is certainly not the worst plush I have ever seen...there are countless candidates at the park on a yearly basis...how about those steroid looking Spidermans?! I do agree with him that whenever I see a plush I NEVER like to see such obvious stitch lines...it just cheapens the item.
  9. "...or $3 million if he was fired for cause." Educate me Interpreter...could he be fired because the stock has devalued so badly...wouldn't it be easy for them to say that there had to have been some bad decisions made for that to have happened? Just wondering.
  10. Thanks for the tips...the scenic gondola rides sound interesting!
  11. Thanks...even though it is sad information.
  12. ^So, as far as you know, is the organ in such bad condition that it can’t realistically be repaired…or the park just doesn’t care to? By the way…you have no idea how “thrilled” some of my family members were when I played them the Christmas CD!
  13. Oh but you can still hear it: http://www.bandorganmusic.com/pcd2029__more_queen.htm http://www.bandorganmusic.com/pcd2038_more_from_the_queen_of_kings_2.htm http://www.bandorganmusic.com/pcd2039__more_from_the_queen_of_3.htm http://www.bandorganmusic.com/music/christmas.htm http://www.bandorganmusic.com/COMETOTHEFAIR.htm http://www.bandorganmusic.com/carnivalcuties.htm THE WURLITZER #157 BAND ORGAN: This beautiful Band Organ began its career at Ocean Grove, New Jersey, in the early 1900's. It was then moved across the boardwalk to Asbury Park, New Jersey, where it furnished music for a carousel for many years. In the mid 1960's, Paul Eakins bought the organ and completely restored it. The organ toured State Fairs and Expositions for years and was also featured at the Gay 90's Village in Sikeston, Missouri, and the Gay 90's Melody Museum in St. Louis, Missouri. It is now featured on the carousel at Kings Island in Ohio, where it is lovingly nicknamed, "The Queen of Kings Island".
  14. I seem to remember a very soft corinthian leather... (Yes it's the offseason.)
  15. I tried to match today's date from a year ago...but I couldn't do it...but I came close...this is January, 7th 2009. In "real" life I do get rid of stuff...but on the computer I never seem to delete much.
  16. Oh...so now you're feeding me "straight lines" so that I can make SOB/Crypt jokes!
  17. Too Legit To Quit (I am also just messin' )
  18. I couldn't quite tell if you were referring to my post...if so I will explain my meaning. I have been led in the past to believe that the park can not sell any of their signs that have a licensed character...because it was not meant to be a product to be sold. (I have wanted an old HB parking lot sign for YEARS...and have not been able to talk anyone in the park into allowing me to buy one.) I would think that the benches fall under the same catagory...I can't picture whoever owns HB (Is it WB?)allowing the park to sell these. (But if they do I will be standing in line! )
  19. Because the benches have Hanna Barbera characters on them I would guess that the park can not legally sell them. But I would be willing to bet that down the road some of them sneak out of the park somehow...whether it be an employee...or a lucky junk man.
  20. Certainly a rare item...but he must be smokin' something with that starting bid!
  21. rotag, Glad you enjoyed the Banana Splits postcard...here is the other one in the series: And here is also the last one that I own:
  22. As always, a great trip report! I have never been to Dollywood...but came real close this summer but at the last minute plans got cancelled. Your pictures are really nice...the park looks beautiful. I was wondering...would you recommend Dollywood for someone like me...someone who has to drive such a long way...and also has no use for shows? Are the rides and the atmosphere alone worth it? Happy New Year!
  23. Donnie, thanks for sharing your photos…I always like seeing things like that! I have never worked at the park…so I can’t share anything like that…but here are a few photos of probably my most cherished Kings Island items…here are three of the five 3D postcards that I got at the park way back in 1975...yes I’m old! What makes these special to me is the fact that my Mom went into about every gift shop to make sure that I had everyone possible…and I think she succeeded…I have never seen more than the five that I own. I do own some rarer items…but to me these items are priceless.
