As always, a great trip report!
I have never been to Dollywood...but came real close this summer but at the last minute plans got cancelled.
Your pictures are really nice...the park looks beautiful.
I was wondering...would you recommend Dollywood for someone like me...someone who has to drive such a long way...and also has no use for shows? Are the rides and the atmosphere alone worth it?
Happy New Year!
Donnie, thanks for sharing your photos…I always like seeing things like that!
I have never worked at the park…so I can’t share anything like that…but here are a few photos of probably my most cherished Kings Island items…here are three of the five 3D postcards that I got at the park way back in 1975...yes I’m old!
What makes these special to me is the fact that my Mom went into about every gift shop to make sure that I had everyone possible…and I think she succeeded…I have never seen more than the five that I own. I do own some rarer items…but to me these items are priceless.
Thank you SO much for sharing these!
Everytime I see photos of the canoe "ride" it blows my mind that anything like that ever existed at an amusement park...nowadays I think it would be called "Lawsuit Waiting To Happen".
Now let's see...the topic clearly states:
Selling off my entire ride/park postcard collection
But then there is this:
Isn't that clearly false advertising?!
Shaggy...you had my hopes up when I saw your thread...only to dash them. I guess I won't be buying myself a Christmas present from you after all. I feel like i'm on the "Island Of Misfit Toys"...I guess i'll just have to go to sleep and start dreaming about next Christmas.
Have a VERY Merry Christmas!
And this is what I get on one of the computers that I use:
As you can see the reply box is almost all covered up. I can not click in the little opening and start typing my reply...the only thing I can do is start typing...I am typing in the blind and can not add emoticons or make anything bold etc...
Trying to include another posters quote is pretty much impossible because I don't know where I am typing.
Replying to a PM is also the same...so I don't bother.
As stated earlier, I don't know what is different about the 2 computers...both are using IE.
I have this happening also...but only on one of the computers that I post from...the other one is fine?
I can't figure out what the difference is between the two computers that is causing it.
I know that. I meant it more like he wouldn't be "God" and do whatever he felt like...he would now have to get approval from HIS superiors!
On a side-note...whenever I punch on one of your links it opens it up in the same forum window...on the "old" forum, didn't they always automatically open in a seperate window so that you could just X them out and still be in the same spot on the forum?
For those who think Mr. Kinzel will still be controlling Cedar Fair's destiny, read that quote again. And again.
You would know better than I...believe me, I KNOW that...but couldn't he just mean that now he has someone to answer to?
Thanks for posting the link...and yes, I did read the whole article.
I would have liked to have seen them add "And they gave long-time company employee Scooby Doo the pink slip". (Yes...i'm STILL bitter! )
When The Interpreter mentioned Apollo's Chariot, this Halloween Haunt display came into my mind instantly:
I wonder if they put it up next year if the park management will also be pulling the chariot while the Apollo management team ride in comfort!
That's too bad. I have always thought he looked a lot like Walt.
I would imagine that if you were ever at a cemetery and noticed Michael Eisner dancing you could assume that you found where Roy was buried.
(emphasis added)
At least one person here has very carefully tried to show both sides of the issue and not engage in hinting, guessing or speculation. Regardless of how many posts that person may or may not have.
Ahhh...but he didn't say that everyone had POSTED their guesses...i'm speculating that even that one person has been guessing right along with the rest of us! (Now if I only had a hint of who that one person was/is.)
OH...so we're gonna start insulting each other eh?!
Believe me, I know that...and the OLDER you get the more you notice it...but like I stated way back in my first post in this thread...it doesn't mean I have to agree with it or help it along...to do that is to admit defeat.
There will always be things that are out of reach for everyone...even Bill Gates...and I accept that. With 5 kids in my family, and only my father working my family could not afford to go to Disney all while I was growing up...but we always found fun things to do...and Kings Island was always the "topper" when we would go. I still just like it that once you are somewhere that everyone is "even".
I understand that...and I kind of agree that you are right...but I don't really think 3% will keep anyone out if they want to go. (I am not talking about corporate group sales.) My comment WAS meant as just what I found amusing/interesting...a 3% extra charge on a Season Pass for the WHOLE year which would amount to $3 + something is considered too much...but $10-$15 to line jump for ONE DAY is considered fair! I just thought it was funny...that's all...really.
Now it's MY turn for a question that I just have to ask...why is a $10.00-$15.00 charge to line-jump for a day considered "cheap"...yet a 3% tax is considered expensive?
Now why am I not surprised by this?!
Yeah...I know...i'm asking for it now!
You will notice that I did not hint/ask for a bribe though...so i'm not a "perfect" Illinoisan...yet.
It was not at all a slam at any employee of McDonald's...it is just that (whether they want it or not) I pity anyone who has to work at any fast food restaurant...by that I mean behind the counter...I would not wish that job on too many people. I have known people who have had to do it...it is a pretty thankless job.
And before goodyellowkorn182 starts analyzing me again...I will admit I do have an inferiority complex when it comes to fast-food employees...anyone who can do that job day-in, day-out and keep smiling is FAR superior to me.
Have I dug myself into any new holes with this post?
