noticed something on the Kings Island website. although we already know this, they actually updated the Son of Beast page on the official website
-
yeah, i stayed at a hotel in orlando and it went from floor 12 to 14. we stayed in 14 so i guess we were the unlucky ones....
-
for real? i wanted to take my camera phone in, but it was raining quite heavily when i arrived. the box really is empty, why would i make that up. I was the first to notice the tarps on the trains on here, then someone posted a pic.
-
wow. i left for Kings Island right after hearing it was down for the season and bam i go to ride top gun and the Son of Beast sign is gone... the box is there, but no sign. This does not look good, i have this feeling Son of Beast is closed for good. I dont want it to, but it really looks that way. On a more strange note, i rode drop zone tonight, and the lights for the sob station still come on, you'd think they would have those off by now.
-
now that is interesting...
-
yeah, i just saw that. it just had a note at the bottom that Son of Beasts investigation had no irregularities.
-
at this point, i would be too. i really wish it would, though... youd probably see a boost of people coming back this year one more time just to ride it. ive talked to so many random people who were extremely dissapointed they wouldnt be able to ride it. especially the ones who came like 3 days straight so they could ride every last ride...
-
you said it would be open today or tomorrow. if it was, there would be some official post about it and it would be bigtime. even if it were to open this season, wed see it testing for at least a day or two before they open it since it has been down for so long.
-
im pretty sure they were just mentioning that Son of Beast was cleared as well. That has been known since july. I highly doubt SOB would just open in a day or two, with no prior testing...
-
and they still havent released a peep. youd at least think by now they would have come up with a decision. its been well over a week since the ride was cleared.

Holiday World to get new ride in 2010?
jondrewfoo replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
that doesnt rule out a restaraunt. although i think its highly unlikely, theres no reason why they couldnt build a giant amazingly themed restaurant with an arcade or something... -
you best watch what you say. saying the voyage sucks will probably make a lot of people angry especially since you have not ridden it. the blue racer is definately more rough than the red, because the red side was re tracked a little more recently. I however, like the blue side because i feel like it gives you more airtime...

bad examples. those rides now have great uptime. they arent 100 percent, but they dont have any considerable major downtime. and you can ride any ride as much as you so choose, when it is open. sob, is not. however, i do want sob to reopen, and i dont want an intamin woodie.
-
you call blsc a good coaster? and i highly doubt congo falls is going anywhere, its one of the few rides the whole family can ride, and enjoy. it doesnt free up a whole lot of space, anyways as youd have to have a que and its surrounded by walkways and other rides with no real palce to put anything. the only things i think they need in Action Zone, is to have sobs chain lift sound echoing once again, and for them to get a few shady spots somehow, its terrible in the heat.
-
yeah. sob was down quite a bit when it first opened, but when its not being investigated, its uptime was commendable. i never once saw it closed, and most days it was open right at the rope drop at 10am. Edit: i notced something else as well, they just sent out a flyer to season pass holders about all the upcoming events at Kings Island. in the flyer, clearly you see Son of Beast. its a new flyer, with events that havent occured yet. If they really planned on just not opening sob, you would at least think they would refrain from using it in any advertisements, or anything else to that effect.
-
yeah, because i actually took a friend with that pass. in fact, i bought mine in september on ge day. got 10 dollars off for renewal, and 10 dollars off for a ge day only special, and that haunt ticket.
-
actually, im pretty sure it was part of the investigation. they had to make sure proper signage and audible warnings were in place like they are required. after the 06 incident is when they added that spiel, as part of the agreement to reopen the ride... so it doesnt surprise me they would turn it off since the investigation is over in that respect.
-
Son of Beast. it really is one mean machine. one i would wish would reopen in the very near future. Second would have to be Flight of Fear, pre MCBR stopping. that ride really packs a punch still though... i honestly prefer both of those rides to Diamondback.

50 Cent At Great Adventure

i think its funny how they also are featuring leann rhimes. -
yes, i wasnt talking about you, but fear the four who asked if they would fit. They do. I still cant believe for all They put into Son of Beast that they would use used trains. And yes, i can figure new trains are expensive....
-
was that a rhetorical question? One thing is for certain, they will not be putting the old trains back on the track. I really do agree though, the train rattles from side to side, like its loose. I have a feeling its because they need the trains to go a certain speed after the first drop to make it over. having those trains snugly fitted to the track would more than likely damper the speed. someone correct me if im wrong?
-
haha yeah, i honestly hate how slow those bumper cars are. My favorite bumper cars are at Coney Island and at Dollywood. Those were my favorite ride at both parks! Then again, i havent been back to dollywood since 1997, where as a happy young 7 year old I purchased an official Dollywood Pocket Knife... they didnt even age check me!
-
i would really like some new trains and a retrack or two. However, if they were to go that route you would think they would just open it for the rest of the season and have that for next years spending as we arent getting anything that spectacular next year...
-
depends. it pays for itself when you visit about 3 parks once. between the free parking, ert, and the other random deals (meal deals, merchandise discounts, etc.) it all just depends on how often you go. its not worth it if you only visit once, or only visit one park. if you just go to Kings Island, a gold pass for next year, or a regular pass for this year would do you fine. same with any other park. it all just depends on you.
