So today I thought of making some suggestions regarding the KI marketplace website. I went to visitkingsisland.com and went to the Contact Us link. I filled out the form and input my suggestion. When I clicked "submit" I got a message saying that the comment/suggestion field is limited to 250 characters. Really? What if the comment/suggestion is longer than that? Just to test things, I went to cedarpoint.com and did the same thing. I received no such error from their form. What gives?

So, what were the prices? Did they raise them and now they are lowering them again? Is this on machines or at shops? EDIT: Apparently the machines were $4 for a Coke. I'm guessing they didn't sell the amount they were hoping.

I don't remember the Phantom Theater cars being painted primary colors. This year's countdown to opening thread is once again the thread of the year. Many thanks to TopGun1993. Unless we get news for 2013, I would expect this summer to be a bit quieter on the forums. Waterparks are great attractions, but they don't seem to generate as much online discussion as other things do.

Incredible Matt Ouimet Interview
Pagoda Gift Shop replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think season pass and annual pass are pretty much the same thing. Knotts is open almost year round anyway. -
I was referring to the mention of 2013 rumors. The SOB rumors are easy: SBNO.

Come on Terpy, they have not started hinting. Please don't troll the kids who visit these boards.

The Beast-Kings Island ~or~ Thunderhead-Dollywood?

Thunderhead. Less yawn time. -
LIMs on Wooden Coasters
Pagoda Gift Shop replied to Hank's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's true that with LIMs, you can control the speed of the train at certain points in the ride. A lift hill launch does seem like the most likely use on a wooden coaster. -
Yeah I don't think it would collapse for a very, very long time. They probably already know that if they were to re-open the ride, it would need significant work anyway.
-
Heh, I don't think they just hire someone on the street to paint it. I'm sure they use professional techniques which prevent dripping. I'm still waiting for the McDonalds sponsorship to kick in...

All indications are that the ride has just been sitting for several years. No maintenance or testing of any kind has happened.

I like this thread. I'd say I've lost all hope of Timberliners being put on SOB at this point. Holiday World recently announced that the trains will not be on the Voyage this year either. That marks a 3 year delay from their announcement. If GG can't get the trains on a ride they built and designed, I don't have much hope that they will be on any KI coaster for a very long time.

Sorry folks, SOB is closed. The moose out front should have told you.

The Beach Closing after 27 Years
Pagoda Gift Shop replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think any changes to a 2 gate system would risk alienating their massive Gold Pass customer base. Remember that they tried to make Halloween Haunt a separate gate charge and it was strongly opposed. It's only worth it if you can make more money. How many pass holders will they risk losing to do it? -
The Beach Closing after 27 Years
Pagoda Gift Shop replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wonder if the downward trend really started with Boomerang Bay in 2004. Since then, a Gold Pass has really had a lot of value. The new KI waterpark expansion may have just been the nail in the coffin. -
I think some congratulations is in order. If you would have asked me 3 years ago if SOB would outlive Tomb Raider, I would have definitely said "no".

New website. Same old OSTR Flight of Fear picture.

Note that the Timberliners were originally supposed to go on The Voyage in 2010. However, when it became apparent that they wouldn't be ready, Holiday World had already sold one of the PTC trains. So they modified Raven's second train and ran it on Voyage instead. Then after more issues last year, they announced that they would be delayed until 2012. At this point, it really is anybody's guess when or if they will ever run.

Hmm, no new for 2012 attractions seem to match that description. -
Ultimate Ride Warrior 2012 Checklist 1. Take a ride on Son of Beast 2. Get arrested for trespassing

Yeah, the RWW thing is still a big disappointment to me. I think KI said they were going to make it different somehow in 2010...and apparently different means "nothing at all". The format did need some tweaking, and they probably should have added a fee. If you are trying to make an event like Coastermania, it is not going to happen in just one year.

I thought with any park that all decisions were that way. Dinosaurs Alive! at Cedar Point seems to prove it.

Site Traffic?
Pagoda Gift Shop replied to Coney Islander's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
This site has been around for a long time now. People's lives and interests change over time. I think the bigger question this thread poses is: What is the future for KIC? Many have mentioned positive memories of meeting friends on the site, having events and get togethers, etc. But most websites do take work. You have to maintain information and software to keep them going or they will die sooner than later. I agree that money should not be a factor. If the admins can make money to pay for the site, I say go for it, whether that's through ads or membership. It costs something to run a website so I have no problem with that aspect of things. (censorship on the other hand...) If I might offer one suggestion, look at pointbuzz. They decided that having content other than forums and photos was not worth their time. So they cut it down to just the basics. I think I would be a big fan of that, especially if it meant the forums were able to be a little more customized with a KI theme. -
This sounds a lot like the longterm discussion over Chaos at Cedar Point before it was finally removed. It was always safe, but it cost a lot to maintain and eventually wasn't worth that cost. I would not say that Chaos, or The Crypt, are/were fan favorites.
