  1. When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was about the lily pad game with the frogs you launch. I've never played a High Striker or seen anyone win, but the sounds of that game are etched into my brain.
  2. I always thought the ones which are behind the fence were just extras. It seemed very possible that they weren't sure how many they would need until constructions was done.
  3. I also was at the park this weekend and heard the organ for the first time since its return. While I'm glad to hear it back in action, it definitely didn't sound 100%. The bell/chimes weren't working at all, in fact, you could hear it play one or two of them during parts of a song but no more than that. I hope they continue to fix it up.
  4. I don't get it. If you are under 48" when you get the JR pass processed, you should be golden for the year. If a kid happens to grow past the 48" mark during the season, good for them they got a discount...for one season. It's not like that's a loophole you can exploit every year, and absolutely nothing was done wrong in purchasing the JR pass. Kings Island just looks greedy by enforcing their "right" to re-evaluate height mid-season. It comes across the same as if they decided to raise pass prices mid-season and told you that you couldn't get in again until you paid more.
  5. Is this music different from the music that plays when the train departs the station? Or is it the same and that is just the first part of it?
  6. Yeah I don't really get why it isn't on Fast Lane Plus. Seems like the 2 most popular rides should be there. Firehawk is there mostly due to capacity issues I think. Those 3 coasters make sense.
  7. Nice. I had a Beast ride about 10 years ago when the fireworks were going off (back before they shut it down during the fireworks). It was quite memorable.
  8. The questions that comes to my mind are: "What other coasters have had 100 million riders, if any?" and "What other coasters are even close to getting there?"
  9. I did some more searching and found the ride was added in 1975. So yeah, it did not come from Coney Island.
  10. I think Raptor had its on-ride cameras back in 2007. I don't believe they lasted any longer than one season, but I don't know exactly.
  11. They must have run out of fuel for the fire. Now they are fueling it with pieces of Shake, Rattle, and Roll. (Kidding, kidding) Wasn't another feature of the original ride for the trains to have working headlights in the tunnels? I think I remember there were issues with the batteries for the lights getting recharged in the station and they never worked properly. I certainly don't ever recall anything but pitch black in the tunnels in 2005.
  12. Wow! That is totally awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  13. The rehab a ride can get during the off-season can vary greatly. During an off-season tour of Cedar Point a few years ago, the Wave Swinger ride was completely missing similar to SR&R. Bryan Edwards explained that some rides are completely dismantled some years and other years are left mostly in place. I like SR&R and hope that it makes a come back. I believe this ride came from Coney Island? If so that is more incentive to keep it.
  14. Count me as one who thinks that on-ride photography stills are better than video. For most people who don't know where the on-ride cameras are, the photos often look pretty goofy. I just don't think there will be the same appeal to pay more money to watch yourself look silly for 3 minutes. I guess people do buy those skydiving videos (and videos from the sky coasters/Sling Shots), but those seem like a different category. I thought the ability to have a photo emailed to you was an awesome upgrade to ride photos when it happened 5 years or so ago.
  15. Great post. I agree. As a fan site, you want to have the best relationship possible with the park. However, at the same time you are an independent fan site where users are entitled to free speech. Balancing between those 2 can be tricky and is not always an easy task.
  16. Yeah, don't write to Mr. Ouimet. The decision to remove an attraction like this is very likely not a decision he would be involved with. At least, I hope not, CEOs have more important things to do.
  17. I hope it's Italian Job Stunt Track Backlot Coaster.
  18. Seeing old videos like that makes me miss the old buzz bars in the trains. Today's trains feel so constricting with the seat divider and lap bar. Hopefully the industry will continue to innovate and come up with better trains/improvements for existing rides. A little bouncing around in the train made it fun.
  19. Can we make this the thread for "SOB is gone" and the other one for "SOB will live forever"?
  20. Either way, it will be a fantastic storage warehouse I'm sure.
  21. Doesn't every one on Internet forums get called a liar? I know I call Terpy a liar after every post of his. I just don't always post it.
  22. Would it be less sad if there was just a pile of dirt there?
  23. Hmm, I guess people in southern Indiana are more well behaved.
  24. New for 2013: Disappointment! Thank goodness The Racer fence finally came down. That should make waiting much more comfortable in there, even when there is only 1 train operating. It was always such a pain to maneuver to the back of the train.
