OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
coaster_junky replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^i don't think a "failed attempt" would ruin gg's reputation, intiman has built two strata coasters, both with their own problems (although slowly having the kinks smoothed out), and many prototypes with their own problems as well, and they are still going strong. Son of Beast is just a prototype, and it just needs tlc to make it run as good as some people want it to be. (i'm personally fine with it as you all most likely are aware. ) -

^which is what he said, "i think they would be similar in weight." -
^so do you scan your pass, enter the park, get a hand stamp and walk all the way back to your car? edit: i feel dumb now that he pointed that out to me, my bad.

"Guests of Exceptional Size" - an idea!
coaster_junky replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island
sounds like a great idea, but good luck getting that tape measure through security, well unless the metal detectors are running the same way as they were at the end of last season. -
woops, my bad, i didn't know they had two monorails so close to the same color.
-
^ ... and i believe that he was trying to say that you could have just randomly ended up in a car that two worked one time then the next, once again luck of the draw, you ended up in a car with only one gun working.
-
not to cross fire here, but i didn't read it as a rant about how terrible the park was, rather him pointing out some of the things that he noticed while there and whether he liked them or not, other people on this site have been saying nearly the same things, just having them more spread out and not all at once like nick did. as for the Diamondback thing, usually when a new roller coaster comes out almost everyone seems to place it high on their coaster charts, and then after a season or two it starts to slip, i know this was the case when it came to Firehawk with me.

it was the trampolines back close to the restrooms in coney mall, but they were removed and now those ball things are there
-
okay, if they just put head light decals and a grill decal on the front of the cars for each train of backlot, it wouldn't be such a bad change to solid colored trains. right now they look like blobs with wheels. (great trip report.)
-
that's weird, she wasn't allowed to say that the ride had valleyed? that doesn't make much sense, especially when you can see the train setting stopped overtop the station.

Beast1979's Opening Day Photo Trip Report
coaster_junky replied to Beast1979's topic in Trip Reports
great pictures jackson, even if some were blurry!! i did find it funny that you managed to almost completely eliminate pictures of Son of Beast, with it only in a far, far away distance shot, and the Action Zone picture. -
no, here's a link to a picture from the KICentral photo gallery: avatar: the last airbender the "hump" didn't even have anything covering it.
-
plus, other rides in the Cedar Fair chain have the option of purchasing 3-d glasses (disaster transport comes to mind). is there another price break with a higher amount of glasses purchased? if so, they could buy in extreme bulk and just distribute where need be. if Kings Island is paying for their park's only, i think they should ditch the 3-d glasses and go with some stickers to place on backlot's coaster trains to make them look a little bit more like a car and not a blob with wheels.
-
^wait, so after the accident they just took the good halves form each monorail, slapped them together, and painted them? anyway two weeks after the accident i took these pictures: so, are there multiple of each color monorail?

^^read the answer given, the post you put a link to was about the scorpion model, which is a made up coaster, so it couldn't be existing. unless the man behind the curtain is really confused it couldn't be the scorpion model.
-
so i guess the "man behind the curtain" just semi-confirmed starlight.
-
so, i know it's not on the online park map, but is Son of Beast on the park maps provided at Kings Island? the only reason i ask is because i think i remember reading it was hard for the park to make a decision whether to include it on the park maps or not, and if the decision to not have Son of Beast operating this season was made so close to opening day i didn't see them having enough time to have new park maps printed in bulk and shipped to the park.

lol, i love the look the dippin' dots guy is giving you

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010

i'm also one of the few that has pain free rides on Son of Beast. with that said it's most likely obvious that i'm saddened about the rides closer durring the 2010 season, but hey if it means that i will get to ride it again in 2011, i'm all for it being closed one season. i just hope that if they do a major over haul they don't go the same route as texas giant. i would love for Son of Beast to be able to remain the worlds tallest and fastest "true" wooden roller coaster and not be switched to a steel hybrid coaster. i just really hope that they can find a way other than tearing the ride down like the park is wanting to do. *oh, terpy, i know this was a post in the first few pages of this thread, but i think you're on the non-haters side of the Son of Beast debate. edit: thanks terp, i went to type non-painful, but changed it to pain free because that made more sense, then forgot to go back and edit. -
i'm not real big on the new monorails, maybe i'll like them better when i get to see a picture of a real one, not a computer generated model photoshoped to look like it's on a track. i'm guessing that these are decal like "stickers" kind of like the mickey ear balloons that were on the monorails last year. if so, i'm really hoping that they don't peel back and start to get dirt over them like they were doing when i went back in july.
-
hank, are you refering to the piece of switch track? if so, it's there to place the trains in the storage shed, if not, i'm not sure what you're talking about.
-
today's 5@5 link
-
actually vekoma came up with Invertigo, that's what the model Invertigo is, is called.
-
oh, no i meant so that Kings Island could get away with having family guy as the theme for scathc. i could see where you got that, but i didn't mean it that way.
