At most Broadway shows I've attended, patrons are allowed to bring flowers to toss onstage at the end of the performance. The performers usually place them in a vase backstage and keep them in the dressing rooms. The tradition isn't dead yet!

Indy Zoo Skyride Strands 18
Gabe replied to NoChickens's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For the second time in 2 months, the Indianapolis Zoo Skyride stopped suddenly, stranding 8, including 3 kids. Rescue crews didn't arrive until about an hour ago, 90 minutes after the ride stopped. It's about 85 and sunny here today. This ride has been plagued by problems since it opened 2 years ago. -
I would expect that transformation to be done in the off season.

Well, if the park isn't offering showers, how about a bath in White Water Canyon? The family dryer outside the exit could see some extra use!

For anyone going this coming Monday, It's Reds day. Frazier, Hamilton, Cozart and Mesoraco are all slated to appear.

Noone was arrested, no charges were pressed, noone was escorted from the park, noone was banned from the park for a set amount of time. Disney is saying nothing as is their right, given that the incident took place on private property. Once cooler heads prevailed, I'm sure Disney quietly let them go on their way.

Usually for previous KIC events, the park asked the mods to use a cut off date, meaning that one had to be a KIC member by a certain date in order to participate. Given that the summer season is racing towards an end, perhaps a Haunt event would be possible? The previous KIC events have provided behind the scenes tours of Beast, sign shop, Diamondback, Banshee, FOF and the KIMVR respectively. Given the number of informal meetups that spring up, plus the lead time in putting details together, I believe Boddah has said in the past that having an event every 2-3 years is more feasible. Regardless, if the date chosen works for me, I will be there again!

Note on the release page that Hart (for what it's worth) did say that normally, said coaster would cost $15M, but savings are being realized by reusing some of the TT structure. It wasn't noted how much the savings really are, but knowing Hart, he'd make a savings of a dollar sound enormous.

Most sources seem to point to Vekoma as the manufacturer of the ride, with the ride taking inspiration from their Motorbike coaster installations. I've also read that a speeder bike Star Wars themed coaster would come to the Studios in Florida instead of at the MK, since the two are similar. The rumored locale for the MK coaster (current employee parking behind and up a bit from the park) doesn't mesh with Disney's long term plans to build a northern gate, which would also sit where the coaster would go.

Yesterday, Disney lifted the veil, giving everyone a first look at what to expect when the park opens next spring. From the looks of things, it's going to be hugely popular from the get-go. The park is going to feature some never before seen rides, as well as updates on classic Disney rides we all know and love. Various sites have details on the press conference Bob Iger held, but the link below shows concept animation of the one of the highlights of the park-a TRON-inspired coaster featuring trains shaped like lightcycles. The ride traverses under an ever-changing color canopy. See below and watch this space for future updates! http://time.com/3958699/shanghai-disneyland-tron-ride/

Hopefully it's nothing more serious than a blown tire. I was next in line for Diamondback last year and saw a tire blow up (the ones the train runs over as it leaves the station). Maintenance came and replaced the tire in about 15 minutes and she was up and running again soon after.

To further muddy the waters, the 2-day ticket deal for $29.99 which has run daily in the IndyStar since May has also been recently airing as a TV ad; what's funny is that while the printed passes do not have an expiration date, the TV ad clearly states at the end that the offer is only good through August 9. If they're behind in their target #s, why discontinue a pass that may (or may not as the case may be) have worked with several weeks still to go in their season (including the days KK overlaps with the Fair-Aug 20-30). I'd like to see what happens on Aug 10 when people present the paper passes at the gate.

Is this really Rust Cohle posting as Thrill Biscuit?

I've ridden both as well and enjoyed Indy more than Dinosaur. It isn't just the ride system-the entire layout of each ride is the same-just a different theme. I personally would like to see some of the things being done for the DL 50th make their way over to the Studios.
-
Dinosaur at AK is essentially a clone of Indiana Jones at DL. I have heard that Disney wants something unique to the park and a warmed-over Indiana Jones update isn't thinking much outside the box. Avatar is still popular-Cirque Du Soleil has created an entirely new show based on it called Toruk which is currently touring. It is scheduled for a stop at Us Bank in Cincy next May.

Last night, Disney quietly (as in, after park close) removed Bill Cosby's bust from outside the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. You know things are bad when a simple bust that thousands walk by daily without ever stopping is removed. Maybe they'll replace him with someone from ABC's comedies..I vote for Ty Burrell lol!
-
I haven't seen them this season, nor do I recall seeing them past the first part of last season. Even at $1, they were overpriced for what the experience delivered. I believe the sign advertising them, which was located on the left as you enter the actual building, has been removed as well.

Four Seen By Medics In New Alton Towers Collision
Gabe replied to WindingSon's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Perhaps the twist you're referring to is an interview the media conducted with a local medium over there (after the fact) who claims the park is haunted and/or cursed by evil spirits that she has apparently seen there at different points. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/alton-towers-ghostbuster-claims-accident-hit-5991019 -
That technology has been in place for quite some time. The esteemed Mansions at Disney do a very good job of achieving that desired effect. Pay attention to the busts in the library as the ride commences.
-
When Hell freezes over would Disney allow its MB tech to be 'leased' out to any competitor. They've only scratched the surface of what the technology can do. I'd imagine once the DHS conversion is done and Avatar is opened, we'll really see the full capabilities of the system.

It was in good working order when I rode it this past Saturday. Didn't notice anything different about either the ride or the ride experience.

The KI Olde English shirts (at least the long sleeved ones) I thought were reasonably priced at around $20 before your gold/plat pass discount. They come in light grey and blue. I was looking for an XL but didnt see any, but if I find one on my next trip there, I'll def purchase one. The cotton felt soft and not rough like some other cheap Ts (cough cough Banshee First Rider cough cough. Then again, it was free, so I'm not complaining )

Vortex got a new coat a couple of seasons ago. The brake shed was also whitewashed at Racer a couple of seasons ago, but was soon back to its current, grimy self, thanks to those who don't respect other's property.
