When we were riding the train last night after 11PM we saw WWC operating and people riding.

Was at park yesterday. The power outage seemed to be concentrated at the front of the park along International Street and the Action Zone Area. Planet Snoopy and Rivertown appeared to have full power although at one point Race For Your Life Charlie Brown appeared to lose power ( There was a log stuck at the top of the hill.) Workers were all over with trays of ice water for the guests which I thought was very nice-they really seemed to try to do what the could to make the guests comfortable.

Well, that's pickelculiar.

Hey, is that my patty?

Wow. I've been putting my arms up in the helix for years both on the left and right side. I always did notice on the left side approaching the tunnel that it looked like you were going to hit the tunnel but I thought that was just an illusion. I'll keep in mind what you said, Terpy, the next time I ride.

I find that with three day weekends which include Monday, the middle day, ie, Sunday, is usually the most crowded. As Terpy said, weather is a big factor also.

Well, Nitro's lines may changE next year... Terp, who thinks you should know many think Diamondback is superior to Nitro, others vice versa...and Terp...he doesn't answer that conundrum...for anybody! Currently I have DB as my 4th fav just ahead of Nitro-but both are very close in my opinion. As to lines, yesterday the queues for DB were full in the morning, pretty much empty in the afternoon and filled again in the evening. It was a very hot day and the water rides and the water park tend to be crowded on those days.

^Hard to believe that when I was a kid the moms we car pooled with to school would smoke in the car while driving us kids and no one thought anything of it. It was certainly a different world then.

I've been a season/parking pass holder since 1994 and have never had any problem with being able to enter the parking lot an unlimited number of times in one day simply by showing my pass.

TTD all the way! Although it is only 17 seconds long, for me it is 17 seconds of pure heaven. No coaster before or since has ever given me such an adrenaline rush.

I guess there are a few of us left who still love stand-ups.

Good point.

The Cuddle Up was my very first grown-up ride-I rode it first at old Coney Island. How I miss that ride-one of my fav flat rides.

I remember when we used to get dressed up just to go to the movies. Could you imagine that today?
-
I agree with that. The current Coney is fun, but its NOT the park it was. If they would build a couple of wood coasters, perhaps it would be little like the old days! Would be nice but not likely because of the past problems Coney had with flooding. ( The main reason KI exists today. ) Sure loved the old Shooting Star.

Thanks for the memories Paul. Notice that people dressed a little more formally back then. Could you imagine anyone today wearing a dress to an amusement park?

It's a good thing the first lift was slow.. this means the 2nd train is still going up lift 2, meaning the crew was getting trains out of the station asap. And after the second train clears lift hill 2 and starts to navigate the final helix, the train on lift hill 1 speeds up. If I am not mistaken the first train used to go full speed up the entire lift 1 under the old blocking system and train 1 would proceed down the first hill as train 2 was clearing lift 2.

^During KI's ups and downs through the years, one thing has never changed: The employees have always been just wonderful. ( I am sure that includes you too XGatorhead.) The criticisms I have relate to decisions of top brass-I in no way mean to denigrate the dedicated staff in the trenches.
-
Shaggy made an interesting point that KI's determination to be the best faded after 1988. Interestingly it seems CP's determination to be the best at this point increased with unveiling of Magnum in 1989. Just seems kind of a coincidence.

Nothing like the front seat of TTD. I will risk a zillion bugs for the rush of the wind against my face. -
Ditto.

One of the most adorable sights is seeing kids dancing at the shows.

I think when Camp Snoopy section was built. ( I'm talking about the section along the Dragster Midway that was built in the 90's as opposed to Planet Snoopy which is near Wicked Twister. )

One of the great things about the Charles Jacques book about Coney Island is that it doesn't shy away from the dark history of the park. Many of you including myself are too young to remember but until the early 60's Coney did not allow African Americans into the park. Charles Jacques talked extensively about this segregation and the protests that led to the integration of Coney.
