The only change I really didn't care for was the change of Scooby's Haunted Castle to Boo Blasters. I just thought Boo Blasters was too dark compared to the light heartedness of Scooby. Just my personal opinion. Otherwise I was very impressed with the renovation of the children's area. I caught Charlie Brown's hoe down and I must say it was a very enjoyable show. The children certainly seemed to enjoy it-so much for the concerns that Peanuts characters wouldn't appeal to kids.

Acually at the beginning of the season last year, DB was very quiet compared to other B and M's, then later in the summer it had the normal loud noise like Raptor and Mantis, then it quieted down later in the season-yesterday the ride was quiet. I think but I am not sure that it might have something to do with the park changing the wheels periodically.

All and all, enjoyed opening day yesterday. My only complaint was the food at Festhaus-the pizza portions were just pitiful.

As always, Jesse, great trip report with plenty of words of wisdom. Sorry I missed you yesterday. By dinner time I was worn out and went home early to bed. I'm sure I'll see you this summer.

Always enjoy your trip reports, Paul. No one can beat your photos. When I rode Montu 11 years ago, there were crocodiles under the track right before the lift hill. I hear they took them away.

I still remember when the Scooby Doo Coaster ( which many of you youngsters know as The Beastie, Fairly Odd Coaster.) was yellow.

From my experience crowds tend to be rather heavy on Saturdays in May when there are a lot of church outings to the park. Of course, as Terpy says, it depends upon the weather.

Really enjoyed your photos, Selective. I'm sure you meant no harm in your comments about the accidents in 1991. You sound like a really nice guy. I just wanted to welcome you to KI Central and I hope I get to meet up with you at the park.

One of the prettiest sections of the park used to be the old Oktoberfest area. It is sad how they just let it disappear.

This thread might very well break the previous SOB thread for the most posts. Do you realize in just a little over 24 hours, there are already 90 posts?

Just wondering how many more posts there will be on this topic.

Super photos. Couldn't agree more about Magnum and the restraints-those lap bars feel like concrete on a trimless ride.

Anyone remember the jingles from season 1 ( Kings Island, c'mon get happy, Kings Island, comon get happy. ) and season 2? ( When you come to Kings Island you'll always smile there's a whole lot of happy going on.)

So hard to believe they are no longer with us. They looked so healthy in the video and it was less than 3 years ago.

Bubba inspired Forrest Gump to open a shrimp restaurant in the movie. EDIT: Ah I was beat!! Hahha. Actually it was a shrimp boat and Lieutenant Dan was his first mate.

A Victory For Kings Island Is A Victory For Mason!

I am sure there are a lot more accidents in people's homes than there are on amusement park rides. I would say riding a rollercoaster is a heck of a lot safer than changing a light bulb. -
I think the steel coaster in the ad is not Vortex but Anaconda at Kings Diminion.

I noticed they labeled The Beast as an Out and Back Terrain. Have never heard anyone refer to The Beast as an Out and Back.

Nice photos especially of Steel Force. -
About 10 minutes.

Thanks for sharing the memories. I saw the Bavarian Beetle and The Rotor among the photos. An unfortunate reminder of too many rides now gone.

Missed you. Raptor Guy ( Brian ) and me were at CP Friday nite, Saturday and Sunday for ERT. I looked for you as I recall you saying you were going to be at the point closing day. We entered through the Marina gate and did some ERT on Mildred and Raptor then left for closing day at KI. Too bad we missed each other.
