Gary Coleman to hit 3,000 rides on Diamondback tomorrow
markr replied to Kirk Sheppard's topic in Kings Island
Seriously? Parading and bragging? Promoting himself? You've obviously never had a conversation with the man. Did all of those people who were there tonight find out about the 3000th by standing around DB and counting Mr. Coleman's rides? I think not. Of course he promotes himself. He is obviously very proud of his accomplishment. Who wouldn't be? But by doing this, he opens himself up to questions about how he managed to reach his milestone. I have ridden DB so far 909 times. I am not out to make an "accomplishment"-it is immaterial to me whether I ride 10 or 10,000 times. I just happen to love the ride and figure if I'm going to ride it that much, I might as well keep count. On a personal note, DB opened just six weeks after I lost my dear mother. In a way, it has helped me to heal in dealing with my loss. My point? There are many reasons why we may engage in hobbies that you may not be aware of. Try to be a little more understanding before judging others. -

^And may I add that people that have such hobbies aren't given half of the scrutiny that a coaster fanatic gets. People have the right to their own opinions but, at the same time, people have the responsibility to show basic good manners toward others. This includes treating others with respect and dignity. -
I don't mind seat assignments on DB but I do on Beast as back wheel seats bang up my back. Are you sure they are assigning seats?

Couldn't have said it better myself,CoastersRZ. I myself have 906 rides on DB because I enjoy it. Some people belong to garden parties, some people play bridge, some people play golf, Gary, Darlene, myself and the rest of the DB gang like to ride DB. And we shouldn't have to make any excuses for doing something we love. The insults that I saw people post about Darlene in the article about her 500th ride on DB ( which I had the pleasure to share) really turned my stomach. -

He is there every evening. And I don't feel that Gary owes anyone an explanation about why he rides a lot, ie whether he has a job, is retired, etc. It is nobody's business. Forgive me if I sound harsh. -
I for one get sick of people talking on cel phones in the rest rooms. Talk about invasion of privacy while one is doing their business. And as to cameras/cel phones on rides, I recall that there was an incident at Geauga Lake ( when it was Six Flags ) when a cel phone hit a rider in the head on The Villain.

I had an Etch A Sketch as a kid but could never draw like that. -
Even with the crowds, DB was just 45-50 minute wait and the line was back to the buffet entrance. That is some capacity ride.

Double lol.

DB went down because you got stuck on the mid-course break? It has never been down because I went through the mid-course breaks! Just teasin! lol.
-
I was on DB at the tail-end of ERT yesterday when we got stuck on the mid-course brake. That is what closed it down.

Although KI was packed today, the weather was beautiful-for once it wasn't hot and humid.

Good point, Terpy.

If you are going to PM someone, make sure you understand that you should still show them the same politeness and courtesy as you would when posting. PM's should not be harrassing.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming
markr replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is exactly why I put my comment up above. I'm glad nothing worse happened to you. The aftermath sucks. I just noticed your post. Please accept my condolences for your loss. My heart goes out to you. -
Not to mention brightly colored and themed to the area! Must respectfully dissent from your opinion that CP is only a thrill park with no family/middle of the road attractions attractions. There are two great kids areas ( Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy), three great water rides, not one but two antique car rides, a first class carousel, a beautiful ferris wheel, need I go on? Plus great shows and a very family friendly Holloween event ( Holloweekends ) which in my opinion is much more family friendly than Holloween Haunt. I know I am digressing from the discussion about HW but I just feel CP gets such a bum rap that they are not family friendly.

Sandusky: Red Light Cameras May Be Coming

I have to put in my 2 cents on this issue. Seventeen years ago, I was on my way home from work. I remember getting off at an exit because I had to go to the store to get something for dinner. The next thing I remember, I was lying in the Emergency Room. Some idiot had run a red light and T-Boned me on the passenger side. Luckily I didn't have anything less than a concussion. If that idiot had hit me on the driver's side I would probably not be with you now. That accident caused my parents a lot of agony. Could you imagine the agony they would have gone through if I had been killed? Simply put, I have absolutely 0 sympathy for people who run red lights. If cameras catch them in the act, serves them right. Maybe it will make them more careful and save countless lives. -
For me HW was not just about the coasters although they were great. ( Although Voyage gave me a bit of a headache. Legend was actually my fav.) Its about the whole package-the charming atmosphere ( Loved the grandmotherly woman, for example, introducing the the turkey shoot ride.), the wonderful prices ( free parking, reasonable food prices), the FREE DRINKS!!! ( EMPHASIS ADDED.), the quality of the food, the spic and span grounds and bathrooms, need I say more? You summed it up perfectly, Terpie.

There have been several threads about the issue of customer service and how effective Guest Services is. Last week I did have an issue at KI. I won't go into the facts. Suffice it to say that I consulted with Guest Services and they were just wonderful. A supevisor, Leslie, called me at home to find out what the issue was and we had a wonderful conversation for approximately 10 minutes. I cannot praise her care and kindness enough. Needless to say, she solved my issue. My point? If something happens to you at KI that makes you less than happy, go to Guest Services. You might be surprised.

Was at the park earlier doing some DB laps. The queues were empty but I only did 4 rides because it was so hot out. Have been relaxing at home in the cool A/C.

I heard a cute one last week. When in line for DB, a man behind me on his cel phone said " We're in line for The Rattlesnake."

^Hope you have a wash board. ( lol )
