  1. ^I'm inclined to wait and see how this turns out after Terpie's experience. Remember, innocent until proven guilty.
  2. I agree with you Terpie. Although this is not a forum for political discussion, we should know the full truth about Coney Island's history of segregation. I recall when I was in college, I had a summer job and my boss was African American. I remember that I reminisced about Coney Island. Imagine my chagrin when I found out he could not share the same memories with me because he was banned from the park because of the color of his skin. It still makes me sad that a lot of African Americans of my parents' generation were robbed of such wonderful memories because of this shameful history.
  3. Although I thought Planet Snoopy was a wonderful change for the park, I thought KI's streak of winning Best Kid's area might end since Planet Snoopy was not really original. ( Since the other Cedar Fair parks starting with CP already had it. I will say it again, I think CP is unfairly underrated as to its children's sections.) At any rate, congrats to KI for its Golden Ticket award.
  4. ^I'm just getting over a cold myself-looks like that time of the season. Anyway, I think Rumor Smasher deserves a hand for a smashing job ( no pun intended, well, maybe so.) in helping to organize Gay Pride Night. I commend you for your hard work and also for your courage in standing up for what you believe.
  5. At CP you can barely hear that wonderful Western music in the Maverick queue area. And it was probably because one person complained like the article writer about it being too loud and, thus, ruined it for the many of us who love that music. I say if you want quiet, go to a library.
  6. I chose something CP doesn't have, which is a B and M floorless. While an inverted or gigacoaster would be nice, I still enjoy my trips to the Point to ride something KI doesn't have, ie, MF and Raptor.
  7. I just checked KI's web site and there are no prices listed for 2011 Platinum passes, just for gold passes. The only mention of Platinum passes is a list of the perks and that they cannot be bought or renewed online at present.
  8. ^Like last weekend when I was at CP, I ordered a hamburger basket in the frontier section of the park. As the old lady said in the Wendy's ad, " Where's the beef?" My burger filled up about half the bun. This time, I showed my hamburger to a manager at the food stand and asked if he expected a guest to pay over $9 for this. The manager was very nice and put another burger on my bun. My friend and I spent about $20 at Bob Evans for dinner later that day because of this negative experience. That adds up to a lot of lost food revenue when you consider the many other guests who leave the park to eat.
  9. As I said before, unless you actually wait in a line, you don't know for sure how long the wait is. KI tends to overestimate the posted line waits ( probably so people won't be ticked if the wait is longer.) I also find that publicized line waits are often based upon people, especially children, who overestimate or exaggerate the wait.

    Summer 2010

Just continued to enjoy DB-am at 1038 rides and counting. Most of all, I enjoyed fun times with all of my DB buddies, including Gary, Darlene, Derek, Brian, Andrew, Don, Karen, Roger and both Adams. Look forward to seeing you all at Haunt. Also, a note of thanks to the great ride crews, especially the DB and Beast crews. We all appreciate what an awesome job you do.
  11. I liked Dorney Park. My only complaint was that it was exhausting walking through the hilly sections of the park.
  12. I just wanted to let you know how touched I am by your unselfishness and kindness.
  13. ^I agree with you. End of the discussion. ( lol)
  14. You forgot to include another option for a hot day-the water park.
  15. I just get tired of the mean-spiritedness of politics in general, especially where one side says you do not agree with me, therefore, you are not a good American. It seems like we just don't respect each other's differences of opinion anymore. To me people should come before politics. I would like to think I do practice this principal as I would say the majority of my friends have political opinions different from mine. ( If this is considered a political statement on this thread, sorry about that. Don't want any tempers to flair again. )
  16. I like silly, upbeat music like Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, and Witch Doctor.
  17. The crowds for Holloweekends Friday nights are usually light. Definately good time to go. Saturdays are usually packed depending upon the weather while the crowds tend to lighten up again on Sundays.
  18. umm, umm, that cinnamin roll looks plumb tasty.
  19. The crowds are usually light on Labor Day. However, for me, Saturday would be more fun because you don't have to get up to go to work the next day.
  20. In the past, I have found that the busiest day on Labor Day weekend is Sunday. Believe it or not, Saturdays on holiday weekends at KI usually aren't that bad. Saturday of the 4th of July weekend was practically empty despite a gorgeous day. I think people like to do other things on holiday weekends, like picnics. This weekend a lot of people will be downtown at Riverfest.
  21. I don't think they have announced the Platinum Pass price for renewal yet. However, if it is last year's renewal price which I think was $145, there is still a savings if you go to CP just 2 visits. A two-day ticket to CP is currently $75.99 plus $10 each for parking for a total of $95.99. Add that to the $69.99 for a Gold Pass and the total is $165.98. You still get a $20 savings if you buy the Platinum pass. Sure you can get the early ride time by staying at the resorts if you like to pay $150 plus per night for a room.
  22. I see, sorry about the misunderstanding. In 2006 I renewed my pass for a Maxx Pass at KI and, of course, got unlimited access to Kings Island. I didn't go to any of the other Paramount parks as I really only used my Paramount KI pass at KI-only went to one other Paramount Park and that was Kings Dominion back in 1995. However, I agree with you that its not right to deny you access to the other old Paramount parks if you desired to travel to those parks since that was what you were paying for in the first place.
