From reviewing your old thread from 2007, Terpie, its my understanding that if you renewed your pass in 2007 for the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass as it was called then at KI, you did get unlimited admission to KI for the rest of the 2006 season but had to wait until 2007 for the rest of the Cedar Fair parks, including the old Paramount parks. Am I understanding correctly?

I will have to disagree with you, Terpie, based upon my experience in 2006. I renewed my Paramount Kings Island Pass for the Cedar Fair Platinum Pass and had no trouble visiting the rest of the 2006 season. They didn't issue the actual pass until Spring 2007. Until then, they gave me a card made out of cardboard as a recall which I used for the fall of 2006 for admission.

Like KIFan, how parks figure capacity absolutely puzzles me. Let's take Raptor as an example. I believe they quote the hourly capacity at 1600. I've timed the wait with a full queue at around 1 hr 20 minutes give or take a few minutes. I've counted the queues at 30 rows. Also, I've counted how many people fill up one row and it is around 25 people on the average. Multiply 25 by 30 and you get 750 people-that means about 750 people would move through the line at 1 hr and 20 minutes. That is way off 1600 in an hour. It just makes no sense to me.

Everytime I ride Spongebob, I feel like yelling at the screen " Where's the beef?" like that old lady in those Wendy's ads from the 80's. The amount of meat they put on those crabby patties is pitiful, pitiful, pitiful. ( lol )

I still love KI. However, I admit some sections of the park do need a little TLC, especially Coney Mall. I am very hopeful that Windsurfer (Hope I got the name right.) will bring new life to that neglected area of the park just as DB brought new life to Rivertown. Hopefully, maybe they will do a total makeover of the Coney Mall area like they did to Rivertown which will make a whole lot of difference. Also, a fresh coat of paint on rides like Racer and Flight Deck sure would go a long way. Despite some complaints, this topic led to a nice discussion, didn't it?

Nice seeing you today, Kirk.

^I second that. And to PCC, I was in no way referring to your posts-you simply stuck to the facts all of which I agree. You did not make any personal attacks.

I wonder if that fish ( or whatever kind of creature it is. ) sues the Crusty Crab for the effects of eating that pickle? He certainly was put on notice that there was a pickle on his sandwich when he saw Spongebob chasing the pickle. Kind of reminds me of that woman who sued McDonalds for the hot coffee, which she put between her legs. Oh, what a litigious society we are.

^I agree 100 percent with you. I don't consider it bashing when we explain you have to check the park hours online and that you have to pay attention to the park hours on all the signs which are conspicous. That is sticking to the facts, no personal insults. And I have absolutely no problem with any of your posts, Standbyme-didn't see any personal attacks at all.

Exactly my concerns Delorean. The issue here is basic good manners which means not making fun of people or calling them names however much you feel they deserve it. This is something we learn from our parents ( I hope ).

Like many of you, I frown on posts that are overly negative or do not check out the facts. At the same time, that is no excuse for hurling insults in response. We are a community and we may not like some people's posts but does that excuse us from treating that person with kindness? Does a post that you do not like make it OK to hurt that person's feelings? Selective may be eccentric but I have not seen one post where he has personally attacked another KIC member. I get the impression that he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Let's try to be a little more compassionate toward each other.

When I rode Spongebob last Friday, it was in 3d but they were handing out 3d glasses after you get to your seats instead of handing them out at the ride. The cycle time has always been bad at Spongebob but it was twice as bad because of how much time it took to pass out the glasses. Then, after passing out the glasses, they had to check your seatbelts. However, I still get a kick out of that show because of how stupid it is. ( It drives me up the wall in the pre-show how they have fire underwater.)

I know you said no coasters on the list but I have to add Bavarian Beetle-I think we should make an exception for this because it can easily be reinstalled. How I loved that ride.

I have said this a zillion times and I will say it again: Riding amusement park rides ( I am talking about rides at major amusement parks like KI and CP, not those traveling carnivals.)are safer than changing a light bulb in your home. Seriously, you have a greater chance of being hurt doing simple household chores than on a roller coaster. And I worry more about my ride to and from the amusement park than my ride on the ride. ( Especially to and from KI-there have been so many accidents on Kings Island Drive.) Theme parks take so many safety precautions-if amusement park rides were unsafe they would be out of business.

1. Enchanted Voyage ( OHHH, I get so mad every time of think of that ride being removed!) 2. Cuddle Up ( OHHH, I'm getting mad again. ) 3. Rotor 4. Der Spinning Keggers ( My very first KI ride. ) 5. Sky Ride

I think I'm the culprit who thought KI and CP wouldn't get copies of the same ride. Well, I ended up with egg on my face on that. ( LOL.) Suprisingly I'm pleased as punch that both parks which I frequent will be getting the same ride because I think they will still be different experiences because of the difference in geography.
-
Very much like the ride being placed in the Coney Mall area, which has been too long neglected. Would like to see them repave that area like they did Rivertown. ( Which I would imagine they will do-I bet there will be a complete facelift of the area.) And, if I am not mistaken, the ride costs $2million, not $5 million. At either figure, I believe it will be an excellant investment.
-
My sentiments exactly. Skyhawk is my absolute fav flat ride. I have the feeling WindSeeker will also be on my flat ride fav list.
-
I'm thrilled by the addition. Am astounded that CP is building exact identical ride. However it will be interesting to compare the experiences at both parks since CP will have the addition of the lake breeze. P.S. I'll be on Channel 5 news at 5pm ( I think.)

Did anyone notice Tony and Tyler's closing "Be there or be round?" My friend Derek just noticed that. Probably means a Starflyer or something similar. We'll see tomorrow. Good nite.
-
I doubt that-Raptor is still one of CP's star attractions and I don't think they would want to steal fire from it by a taller and faster version at KI.
-
The photo of wicked twister was from Tony and Tyler of CP-it was a hint of project 2011 at CP. It was basically a photo of Wicked Twister and the surrounding area, including the beach and the area around DT. I think it is a picture showing the area that the new ride at CP will take up. I think this is a hint that CP is indeed getting a coaster and KI the windsoar ride. I find it hard to swallow that they will install the same or similar rides at both parks. Tony and Tyler also quote the word "whoops" which to me hints that they pulled a fast one on us. I'm probably going to be wrong on all counts as I am not the best predicter of new rides.
-
See thread on new attraction at KI which appears to be the windsoar ( or whatever it is called.) I have the feeling that CP pulled a fast one on the public thinking this was going to be at CP. ( See the quote " whoops " by Tony and Tyler. ) I have the feeling from Tony and Tyler's photo that CP is building a coaster after all. We'll see.

I think Dick Kinzel though TTD was the biggest mistake from a financial standpoint. He has stated that he thought Disaster Transport was a mistake because he just thought it was a silly ride. ( Although that ride has grown on me over the years. )
