  1. I did 1 because i think that SOB needs to go. Poor CF spent alot of money fixing it up since they bought the park in 06. They could of spent the money on another new or used/repainted and renamed coaster in its place like they did with X-Flight/Firehawk. I guess you can say that SOB is like The Bat, only bigger and made of wood. Its a maintance nightmare.
  2. I have a saying i use for both Mason and Sandusky. If it wasnt for Kings Island and Cedar Point, both citys wouldnt even be on the map. You have to remember, both citys are very money hungry. Thats why they are going after the biggest money maker. All those hotels and food places wouldnt be in Mason and Sandusky if it wasnt for the parks. And Sandusky has the most indoor water parks in it then any city in Ohio and maybe the USA. Sandusky has 5 indoor water parks. The names of the 5 are Great Wolf, Rain, Castaway Bay, Kalahari and Maui Sands.
  3. Lawyers anymore just want money. If you see the ads for the lawyers wanting to help you with lawsuits, they are lawsuits for the side effects that alot of the Rx meds have. They want you to get money from the Rx companys. Those ads have been showing on tv here in Columbus. I think that this lady is faking most of her injury unless she has her med. records to back it up. Alot of drs i talked to about this lady's lawsuit have told me that a hip replacement can last as long as 20 years depending on the person. The thing that gets me is that she waited 2 years after the accident to sue the park. And it doesnt tell the ladys age either.
  4. In 2006 at Holiday World just before the 2nd night of Stark Raven Mad was to start, a woman fell off of The Raven roller coaster. She stood up after undoing her belt and worked her way out of the lap bar. She died. The park closed and the coaster event was called off after the accident happened and they kept the park closed the next day out of respect for the woman. The inspecters checked The Raven to make sure that Holiday World wasnt at fault. The woman who fell out was blamed for the accident. The family of the woman tried to sue the park, but wasnt able to do to the park not being at fault. The woman was a member of ACE. This caused alot of short term problems for ACE. Holiday World didnt have another coaster event till 2008. Uh, the woman's family filed a federal lawsuit against the park: http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-14174313.html http://masstort.org/site/index.php?id=31 The matter was resolved out of court in 2007. It is NOT a fair statement to say the park was determined not to be at fault, nor that it was. A settlement settles the matter but does not resolve fault. The park wasnt at fault. She undid her belt, worked her way out of the lap bar and stood up. . I didnt know that it was resolved. I knew about the suit. The state inspectors do find who is at fault when a accident happens.
  5. When Cedar Fair took over the park in 2006, they tried to do everything but tear down SOB to fix the problems it has had. As far as i know from what the park has said, when the last thing with that lady happened with the brain injury claim, the park has said that they will talk about what to do with SOB over the winter. And for a lawyer to say that the lady with the hip injury needs to have more surgerys over her life time is just claims. The lawyer has to have the medical records of the lady that states this. With the way they do surgerys now, alot of people with hip injurys are getting more advanced replacements. I know that because i work for a hospital in surgery. I think SOB's fate was bad when the 2006 accident happened. The park just needs to get rid of it all together rather then it being SBNO. From what i heard, the signs stating that its the tallest and fastest wooden coaster have been removed.
  6. In 2003 at Holiday World just before ERT on the 2nd night of Stark Raven Mad was to start, a woman fell off of The Raven roller coaster. She stood up after undoing her belt and worked her way out of the lap bar. She died. The park closed and the ERT was called off after the accident happened, and they kept the park closed the next day out of respect for the woman. I was at the 2003 Stark Raven Mad event when one of the owners had told us that the accident happened. We all walked out of the park not hardly saying anything.
  7. King Cobra's trains was in the FOF building the last time i did a tour with the lights on. They were along the end of the ride.
  8. That's the problem. ERT at Cedar Point is always packed, and the no reride policy kind of blows. On Maverick ERT night, I got 6 Mav rides in one hour. I've been to CP on a cool Sunday when it's 10 times less crowded than it was during an enthusiast event. ERT at Holiday World is pretty much a station wait.. that and they let you reride as much as you want, event or no event. I got 3 Voyage rides in less than 15 minutes at HoliWood Nights. CM offered us coffee, donuts, and OJ at only 2 ERT rides for breakfast. HW Nights took us ALL to the water park, sat us down, and offered us milk, orange juice, fresh fruit, and muffins for breakfast. HW Nights has ERT before and after the park closes, including ERT in their outstanding waterpark, and they run ERT until past midnight on all three top notch woodies. AND they run their coasters in the pouring rain.. plus their food is cheaper, their park is cleaner, and their employees are friendlier. More coasters isn't always better.. CP chooses quantity, HW chooses quality. It's HoliWood Nights for me, hands down (or shall I say hands up? ). Running a coaster in the pouring rain is a very big safety risk. Indiana's ride laws are also different then Ohio's. I was at Holiday World for StarkRavenMad in 2003, and we had the event cut short after the 2nd day due to a accident on The Raven. I did like Holiday World alot, but due to the far drive from Columbus and having to pay for the hotel, gas, food, and to get into the park, i havent went back even though i went with my family and they still go every year for Holiwood Nights. I am thinking that CP tryed a new thing this year for ERT for CoasterMania to see what people thought. I did like the 6 am ERT and the after the park closed ERT. I did see this year that they didnt do a q&a thing. The q&a always ended up being a whining session. Lol. I am hoping that CP brings back the 6 am and the after the park closed ERT. CP and HW is 2 different parks as far as competing with the other park chains. HW isnt really trying to compete with the other park chains. Cp is competing with Six Flags, Disney, and the other chains to try to gain people and to see who can out do who as far as coasters go. Six Flags is going down hill and Disney flat out charges way too much to get into the parks and for food. Cp is clean and they do have nice staff. We use to have 2 Six Flags owned parks in Ohio, and they both was run down. HW is a very good park all the way around. But if you hold Holiwood Nights and CoasterMania at the same time, it may be split on Indiana or Ohio. But if CP gets ahold of the schedule of events for HoliWood Nights, CP could change the events and ERT for CoasterMania to draw more people.
  9. Im glad that The Beastie wont be called The Fairly Odd Coaster anymore. Lol.
  10. If you see a dent on the first car of The Beast train, and the meat at the food stands taste funny, you will know what happened. Lol.
  11. The funny thing is, the guy who was complaining of the neck and back pain will be the one to sue the park for the most money. Even though the cables on the launch coasters get inspected daily or they are pose to, they still can break at some point even if the inspection of the cables showed no breaks or major wear in them. The cable on Xcelerator could of gotten some kind of break in it sometime in the day to cause it to break. I know that after the TTD cable break, the park closed the ride every 2 to 4 hrs for a short time in the season to inspect the new cable to make sure it was doing ok. And the one who wasnt badly injured after the cable break on TTD sued for the most. The SFKK Drop Tower accident was the parks fault. The park tryed to blame Intamin for the cables being bad. Intamin did say that they didnt give them the cables for the tower. But Cedar Fair closed all Intamin made Drop Towers after the SFKK accident as a precaution. I wouldnt be surprised if Cedar Fair closed TTD to make sure that the cable isnt bad after the Xcelerator accident. Cedar Fair is real good with the maintance on the rides at the parks. For a ride to malfuction and it being the parks fault is very slim. But it can happen. Im just wondering if they do the on ride video on Xcelerator. That would be the only way to get that kind of video on the coaster. I can see the employee who posted the video getting fired if he or she wasnt pose to post it.
  12. When i go to KI, i eat at the cheapest places or pack a lunch. I have a few times went to GWL to eat at the bar. I must say that for the $10.00 i spent on a sandwich, fries and water (im cheap lol) i got more food at GWL then i would of got at KI. The meal i got at GWL was bigger as far as how much stuff they give me. When i go to CP, i eat at Famous Daves, Johnny Rockets or i pack a lunch. Both places are not to bad price wise. Famous Daves also has a few meals under $10.00 I also found out that East of Chicago Pizza which is right outside of the causeway is pretty cheap. They have an all you can eat thing for under $8.00. TGI Fridays to me cost to much money. CP has 2. 1 on CP's land and 1 at Castaway Bay.
  13. I was at the park 3 times. Once when it was Six Flags and 2 times when it was a Cedar Fair park. The Cedar Fair park was way better. Six Flags ran it into the ground. Bad employees who was rude, didnt care and the park was dirty. Cedar Fair took it over and made it better or tryed. The park never seemed busy the last 2 times i went. The park price was $24.99 i beleave when Cedar Fair took over. Cedar Fair paid $140 million for it when they bought it from Six Flags. The water park on the otherside of Geauga Lake was to be built in 2 parts. They opened the 1st part the year the park closed and the 2nd one after the park closed. They felt the water park side did better money wise, so they kept it. When i seen the 1st part of the water park, it was bigger then when they had the water park on the ride side of Geauga Lake. Six Flags left Ohio all together when they sold the water park to The Columbus Zoo back in 2007. When Six Flags owned the water park, it was bad. The rides were old, the slides needed replaced, and the park was run down. The only new slides they got in the last 5 years they owned the water park was just the normal ones. The Columbus Zoo took it over and its better. Funny thing is, The Zoo only paid $2 million for the water park when they bought it. And that was for everything.
  14. I guess you can say that whoever wanted the Fairly Odd Coaster to be renamed will get our wish. Lol. Some of us coaster club people was asking the CF suits to rename the Fairly Odd Coaster. Kinda odd having a ride named that. But it went with the Nick theming.
  15. The PBA Tour(bowling) did a summer shootout bowling tourny at Six Flags Great Adventure over the summer outside. The lanes, ball returns, and pinsetters were all real and normal sized. I think Six Flags did it to promote the parks rides and stuff. Six Flags did the same thing for the Six Flags St. Louis park in 2007.
  16. Hey look, its the KICentral mods. Lol. Joking
  17. As far as i know, the Nick contract was a 5 year deal. If i remember right, Paramount did the Nick contract in 2006. So anything can happen at this point. What i find funny is that most teens from 14 to 17 know more about Spongebob then most kids under 11. Lol.
  18. King, SOB has been closed since early June when it was reported that a lady got a head injury while riding it. The park wont open SOB again the rest of the year. The park will be working on what to do with SOB in the winter. It may close for good.
  19. The Beast is part of morning ERT as long as its up.
  20. Do you think they should just replace the wood track with tubular steel track on SOB?
  21. This could be a number of things. Power outage just for the ride. The axle could of broke, which causes the ride to just stop anywhere on the track. A motor could of went. Or it had a malfunction.
  22. It's not they don't know what they are talking about as in they don't know much about Kings Island but just like common sense. Go read the Firehawk thread. It's a perfect example....People arguing and bashing. I have been reading the Firehawk thread people can get so immature. Just go on the Geauga Lake fan site. I somehow got onto it from another site and they just flat out bashed Cedar Fair to the point to where i think that if Cedar Fair seen it, it could mean the site could get shut down. And the mods on that site was bashing Cedar Fair as well. I know that alot of people was mad that Geauga Lake closed, but to say the things they had said was just flat out wrong. KIC is cool. Way better then most sites i am a member of. The mods here have law and order and stuff. I dont think i've seen you guys at the park cause i dont know what yall look like. But hopefully i will be able to meet up sometime with you guys and just ride coasters all day. Lol.
  23. A few people got kicked out of the park for spitting off the bridge The Racer goes under by the exit.
