  1. Coming from someone who has 5 family members including myself who are also terribly allergic to bees I can tell your that if you were stung in line, first aid would be able to come to your aid rather quickly. It wouldn't take much for someone to get a ride operator to call 911 GatorGirl has a peanut allergy, and even though we have a good idea of which places to avoid in the park (mainly Potato Works, much to my chagrin ), we always bring her EpiPen with us. Unfortunately, you never know when and where some cross-contamination may occur, and you have to be prepared. I would much rather have it on hand and ready to use than take the risk of First Aid being able to respond in time. (I'm not saying anything bad about KI's First Aid department. They are a great group of people, very helpful, professional and extremely capable in what they do. But on busy and hot days, there may be a number of other calls that they are busy with that would understandably keep them from responding as fast as they normally would.) Luckily, my pockets have always been big enough to hold it, or there's always Mrs. Gator's trusty fanny pack, as long as she's with us. Even better, the new EpiPens that we got at the beginning of the school year are not the long, cigar shaped ones we've always had. They're now more the shape and size of a pack of Orbit gum.
  2. If you did this before or during the time period of 1991-1995, then you and I need to have a talk. You really chapped my hind hide. -Gator Emerson Hall '91-'92, Hepburn Hall '92-'93, RA in Brandon Hall '93-'94, RA in McFarland Hall '94-'95
  3. I once had a park in RCT where all the coasters were named after different phobias. I only remember four of the names offhand: Claustrophobia, a completely underground coaster Agoraphobia, built right next to Claustrophobia, out in the open Arachnophobia, a coaster with 8 out and back sections Triskaidekaphobia, a coaster that had 13 loops.
  4. Wow... I've never seen one of those before! With all my years in Admissions at PKI, I became a collector of vintage KI tickets and related paraphernalia and considered myself to be above average in my knowledge of those items, but I've never even heard of this. I guess I'm not as expert as I thought! I wish I had seen this auction when it was going on, I would have bid. Of course, it's been a few years since I've regularly searched eBay for KI related items though. Great find!
  5. That's because we adults were a little further back, not running but walking briskly, knowing that we would ride it eventually and not needing to be the first in line.
  6. Banshee on media day, as long as I get the weight down. It would be great to lose a pound a day, wouldn't it? Great, but probably not healthy.
  7. I've learned that in the years since. At the time that I visited those parks, I considered them clones so I didn't ride them.
  8. ^Hopefully I fit on it. I loved King Cobra, but didn't ride SkyRider when I went in '96 & '97 because it was a KC clone, and we still had KC at home. Now that KC's gone, I wouldn't mind experiencing something like it again. I missed out on Shockwave at KD for the same reason.
  9. I rather liked the two I've been on. Too bad Canada's Wonderland doesn't have theirs anymore, chugh43. I owe you for getting me to try Mean Streak again last year.
  10. Happy Birthday, Banshee! Wow... an extra week of Haunt this year, seven weeks instead of the usual six! Sam the Butcher is pleased... Some people's guts more so than others! 83 days left to lose weight! Good thing you don't live closer to HersheyPark!
  11. Only if she wears the Bengals hat & pink scarf then, otherwise I probably wouldn't recognize her!
  12. So am I correct in assuming that this $9 membership is for a standard membership, and not the platinum?
  13. One day out of the entire season is a small sampling and one should not completely disagree based on such a small sample. Dwight said usually, which inherently implies that there are exceptions. For those of us that go to the park multiple times a year, yes, it is usually a walk on. But, I have seen it on several occasions the past few years where there is a rather long wait, which I personally saw twice last year.
  14. The park has been open on Easter Sunday in years past. What will be interesting though is to see if the company that's bought the park out the first Sunday the past few years will be buying the park out on Easter, on another Sunday in April, or at all.
  15. I'll be there for Media Day (I already requested and was granted April 17th off... tentatively ) and I'll be there opening day too, since I already have that day off due to it being Good Friday. Plus, that's the first two days of GatorGirl's Spring Break. Mrs. Gator is taking off the 17th, but I'm not sure if she already has the 18th off due to the holiday.
  16. ^Especially the beginning, floating past the pyramid! Now I have the song "Three Caballeros" running through my head. I guess that's better than another song on another boat ride on that property...
  17. Looking at faeriewench's photos have made me realize it's been way too long since I've been to Sea World. I haven't been since the early '80s as a kid. I tried to convince Mrs. Gator a few years ago that we should go there, but she likened it to Newport Aquarium. I told her it was much more than that, but to no avail. Now that GatorGirl is older the two of us can gang up on her to convince her, or at least outvote her 2 to 1.
  18. I refuse to see the movie because I don't like to get myself worked up and yelling at the screen over one-sided sensationalism, but I have a question. Where did they get the name for the movie, as whales aren't fish?
  19. But somehow Kennywood was able to get an entire ride with Garfield scenes! Garfield's Nightmare is one of the worst rides I've been on (and many others share the same opinion). A then-7 year old GatorGirl summed up the ride nicely while exiting the boat: "I'm not impressed." EDIT: That's really not too different than a lot of them sound currently!

  21. I didn't vote because I've only been to Tampa, but would love to go to Williamsburg (and back to Tampa). We went to BGT in 1997 as part of our honeymoon. We both loved the park, it was a great combination of thrills and zoo. I love Montu!
  22. ...and you're conveniently along our way to those places!
  23. Already have 'em! EDIT: We've actually been looking for a reason to use them again!
