Sorry I can't help you with the meal deal ticket questions. There are lockers that you can rent for the day located just inside the front gate, but I'm not sure how much they are. They no longer sell elephant ears on International Street. A few years ago they turned my beloved Bakery into a Starbucks. (The Bakery was where I worked for my first job when I was 16). I loved those elephant ears!

Graveyard Shift was a show that the park had during the Paramount years. It was in the Paramount Theater (now Kings Island Theater) and played there during the summer months (not during FearFest), so that could explain the lack of Halloween-y music. The park resurrected it in 2011 and put it in Festhaus, where it still plays today.

^It's for the first 5,000 people in the park, doesn't matter if they're kids there for Halloweekends or adults there for ERT. EDIT: Oops, make that Howl-O-Palooza. Halloweekends would be Cedar Point.

That's kind of how it was in the first year of FearFest, which was a separately ticketed attraction. People would have to go to one of several booths or people with aprons around the park to get a wristband. Let me tell you, that was a huge pain to adminster. I have never heard anyone call it that, except for a select few people on here. Of course, I may be hanging out with the wrong crowd. This time of year I hang out with a decidedly pro-Haunt group of people. But you and I have a long-time understanding that we agree to disagree on this whole subject. Ugh... I hate generalizations like this. There is so much more to being a good scareactor than "screaming or yelling 'Boo.'" Since I'm a butcher, I point to the kids and thank the parents for bringing in the "chicken nuggets." This always gets a laugh from them, and usually at least a smile from the kids too. KI-ORIG-EMP... you're old enough to know better. Friday the 13th... is Jason, Hockey Masks, and hatchets. And you're old enough to know better too. Jason's main weapon of choice was a machete, not hatchets!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at WDW
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Screaming_Chicken's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
When we went in July, we purposely didn't eat breakfast, then went to Be Our Guest very soon after they opened for lunch. We got right in with no wait. All rooms were open, so of course we chose to eat in the West Wing. When we left, there was quite a line to get in, so our planning worked well. -
Thoughts/ reviews on new haunts for Haunt 2013
XGatorHead 8904 replied to ki95's topic in Kings Island
For those of you that are interested, here's a site that reviews the attractions in Haunt. It runs through some of the features of each one (so yes, it may contain a few spoilers). http://reviews.ohiovalleyhaunts.com/halloweenhaunt.html -
CP Saturday 9/21/13 - fun but a little disappointing
XGatorHead 8904 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Trip Reports
Thanks for sharing, good TR. I agree with you about Cutthroat, Eden Musee & Bayou, those are always great. Unfortunately, I also agree with you about Eternity Infirmary. This is consistantly one of the weaker haunts there, and I don't mind skipping it whenever we go. When we got our cards for the Zombie Crawl and I saw that EI was one of the ones we had to go through, I groaned. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too terribly long for it. I always liked their CornStalkers. In all the years I've been going to Halloweekends, I've only had one bad trip through there, which was a few years ago. This time, there was a Screamster that tried about 4 times to scare me in there, but he failed each time. He finally said to me, "You don't scare easily, do you?" to which I laughed and replied "No, I don't!" He then asked "Do you do this for a living too?" I don't know how he might have known that, but I told him that yes, I do at KI. I think that made him feel a little better. He was good and tried hard, and would have scared a lesser person. Zombie High School had great scenery, but the acting wasn't up to par. Like devarious, several off-color jokes came to mind, especially when we passed the cheerleader cheering for the school mascot, the Beavers. My friend and I figured out what bothered us most about the house though, and that was that the actors were talking to us. In most zombie movies, zombies don't talk! They moan and groan, not speak in complete sentences. Eerie Estate was good as always, and I too miss the Overlord addressing his Screamsters. It just wasn't the same without seeing them swarming the area and getting that "pep talk." -
He is very familiar with it. I did the Avalanche challenge with him on June 5th, 2011. We agreed we weren't going to race, but of course I timed it anyway. I completed it in 37 minutes, 55 seconds, he did it in 52 minutes, 14 seconds. We were not rushing by any means, and took time to talk, etc. He wants to do the Fire and Ice Challenge with me, and one of these days we just might, but I don't know if I can handle that much jalepeno popcorn! If you had gone to Slaughter House and Sam had noticed your shirt, he would have said something too. And that host at CarnEvil is none other than KIC's very own rotag.

Thoughts/ reviews on new haunts for Haunt 2013
XGatorHead 8904 replied to ki95's topic in Kings Island
^That's fine, but keep in mind, one person's opinion may not be another's. To use an example most of us on here will understand, just like coasters, what one person finds intense another may find lame and vice versa. Individual results may vary. -
I believe that Haunt coupons were offered in years past at Taco Bell locations in Cincinnati. Discounts were also available with a college student ID at the front gate. I have no idea whether either promotion is happening this season. Coupons are available at Taco Bell again this year, but I don't know how much they take off admission. I eat there once a week, and I see the sign advertising the coupons as I pull into the drive-through.

What could KI do to each ride to improve it?
XGatorHead 8904 replied to thoe124's topic in Kings Island
How exactly is Flight Deck unsafe? EDIT: BeastForever beat me to it! -
^I had one of those Eiffel Towers from the 70's in my bedroom as a kid, and still have it today. We also bought one of those invisible dog leashes form the park, but that was thrown out years ago.
-
^was it taken apart last year? I feel like it was actually running but I don't remember now. I'm not sure. I know for a few years it was gone, but don't know for sure about last year. I don't get out much during Fridays and Saturdays, and if I go on Sundays I don't tend to really pay attention to Scrambler since GatorGirl has moved on to bigger rides.
-
^In the past, Scrambler was taken out during Haunt so its ride area could be used as a queue area for Massacre Manor. That may or may not be the case for Delta Delta Die (I haven't been in that section of the park recently).

That's a great grand prize!

Yes, thanks for that! It was the best picture taken of me... er... I mean Sam, last year. -
If Six Flags owned all Cedar Fair Parks?

Then by all means, avoid Comet's Rockets at Holiday World. Rockets with guns on the front and back! -
the Partridge Family at Kings Island
XGatorHead 8904 replied to upstop's topic in Kings Island History
I have this episode on VHS. Every year I watch it and The Brady Bunch's The Cincinnati Kids episode the night before KI's opening day. Once, rotag was at my house and since he had never seen The Partridge Family episode, I played it for him. I made sure to point out the log flume riding infraction to him and he couldn't believe that it actually aired that way. -

There is a steel drum band that has played in Soak City for the past several years at the restaurant/bar near the wavepools. We love hearing them, and often put our towels in the grassy area behind their stage just so we can listen to them. -
Rolling Thunder
XGatorHead 8904 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Sad that Rolling Thunder is gone. My only visit to the park, they were only running the left side so I'll never get that right side credit. While others in our group rode El Toro (which I could not), KIRuler and I got several rides in on RT while singing along to the Rawhide theme playing in the station. I wonder why they chose to take it out, since woodies, with a few exceptions, typically have a longer lifespan than steel. -
I'm ready! Just yesterday I saw a Haunt commercial for the first time this year, it seems to be the same as last year, with the couple riding the coaster and turning into zombies.

Girl released from hospital yesterday, expected to return to school part time next week. http://www.newser.com/story/174127/girl-the-3rd-known-survivor-of-brain-eating-amoeba.html Good to see she's doing well! When researching Schlitterbahn before I went a few years ago, I was surprised to learn that much of the water used comes from the Comal River, which runs right next to the park. Having swam, canoed & kayaked in lakes and rivers for as long as I can remember, this didn't really concern me. I just thought it was novel because I had never been to a waterpark that wasn't chlorinated water before. (And by the way, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is a great park!)

What's Up With Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular?

I noticed that restaurant on my last visit...it appears to have been disused for quite some time. A merry family of butchers will use that restaurant soon enough...- 166 replies

^Was it Slaughter House in general, or one specific spot in there? I have a... um... "friend" that's curious. He's wondering if it was him that scared you.
