  1. Hey now... let's keep this clean! There are young'uns on here, you know!
  2. ^I've only sunk in a lazy river when there's been a pedal boat involved. Luckily, to this day, I have not sunk in one while floating on a tube!
  3. IF the park actually ever opens again, barring any unforseen circumstances, I fully intend to be there opening day. I want a front row seat for the fiasco!* *Based on my one prior experience at KK, I expect nothing short of a fiasco to occur. That day ranks as one of my two worst park experiences ever. I will be completely amazed if Mr. Hart & Co., who were in charge the last time I visited, are able to provide me with a fun, safe, incident-free day... and I sincerely hope they prove me wrong.
  4. KI strikes again! They're bringing nostalgia back to Flight Deck and Adventure Express!
  5. ^Try as I might, I've never been remotely close to getting HW's to snap. KI's were the easiest, Stricker's were easier a few years ago than they are now (before they moved them between the two coasters), and Idlewild's would have been so easy to snap, but they had a sign warning riders not to do it, and not wanting to get thrown out of the park, I sadly complied.
  6. I think we're leaning towards KI now too. If GatorGirl isn't tall enough for DB by then, I guess she could wait in the station for that hour & 15 minutes. Although I swear every day I look at her she's getting taller. A few weeks ago she seemed just a little shorter than Mrs. DaveStroem... but GatorGirl was wearing her boots then.
  7. ^I say that since Vortex is no longer visible on that webcam, they're trying to hide the fact that it's sinking. *DISCLAIMER: Vortex is not actually sinking. This post is an attempt at humor and should in no way be taken seriously.
  8. ^ We had lots of fun in the "antique" section of CP's arcade last year. We loved playing all those old mechanical games and the pinball machines!
  9. Why not? But seriously, all they have on the lake are the new Como Cruisers, canoes, and the paddle boats. Since Como Cruisers is replacing the bumper boats, there are only three things on the lake, which is the same number that they've had for several years.
  10. How can I say this without being political and violating the TOS? Here goes... As anyone who has seen my Facebook page can see, I've been critical of Kasich in the past, especially in the area of school funding. Our school district was hit hard when the tangible personal property tax was done away with (which my district depended on heavily) in the name of attracting new industry to the state. Then, a few days ago, his proposed changes to school funding were announced, and I highly approved of them. In fact, last night Channel 19 interviewed the superintendent of our district, who said the changes would benefit the district greatly (although not making up totally for the losses we incurred a few years ago). And now this. I was there, along with other KIC members, for the Mason City Council meeting in which their proposed admission tax was voted down. I'm not going to rehash all the negative consequences of an admission tax... you can search for that discussion on this site yourself. Anyone want to make a trip to Coumbus? (And a tax on coin operated video games & pinball machines? Seriously?)
  11. TTD's track may be longer, but it's ride time of 30 seconds is shorter than FD's 1 minute & 52 seconds.
  12. Thanks Department 47, I just caught that myself that I left out the 's in Kenton's and was going back to correct my post when I saw yours! I remember I rode Gulliver's Rub-a-Dub exactly once in my life. We went once a year back then, and every year I wanted to ride it but we never did. One year, my mom finally broke down and let us ride it. After we rode, I could see why my mom wasn't too enthused about it because there wasn't much to it, especially compared to Enchanted Voyage, which displayed the HB characters in a much better way.
  13. Wow... three errors in that ride name in the article. It's Kenton's Cove (not County) Keelboat (one word) Canal (with a C not a K).
  14. Huh? The original Amazon Falls didn't have any themeing. The way it is today is pretty much the way it was in 1988. The only thing that changed between Amazon Falls and Congo Falls was the name (and the sign). Believe me, I rode it on it's opening day, and have fond memories of that day when my friends and I picked up our friend Doug and forced him to stand on the bridge as a boat passed underneath. Doug didn't speak to me again until 4 months later, as I was the main instiGator.
  15. With a working or non-working yeti? Such as your avatar?
  16. Or more accurately, Scooby Doo, as Woodstock Express was called at the time.
  17. As PhantomTheater hinted above, it has to do with the similarities between Gatekeeper and Wild Eagle at Dollywood, which opened last year. Both are B&M wing riders.
  18. Well, this may have just made our decision for us whether we do Coasting for Kids at KI or CP. I love marathoning Diamondback, but if GatorGirl does the event, then we just may have to go to CP. She just reached 50" for our Dollywood trip in November, so she got to ride Wild Eagle for the first time. I'm not sure that she would grow another 4" to reach DB's minimum height by June 9th. It's possible, I guess, but I think unlikely. If CP does Magnum & Gemini again (their website doesn't have the event up yet), GatorGirl can do those, as those are 48". It says registration begins in mid-February, but we may just have to wait a little to see if we think she might reach 54".
  19. ^I did the same thing in elementary school. None of the other rides were open, only the monorail, and of course we learned about the animals. Come to think of it, that was my first of many, many times being in the park when it's closed.
  20. More on this from CP's website: http://www.cedarpoint.com/places-to-stay
  21. ^Unless there's several of us that decide to coast up that way... Thankfully we still have a while to decide!
  22. 23 visits to KI as a guest last year (not counting my nights there as Sam the Butcher). Other parks: Dollywood: 7 Cedar Point: 3 Holiday World: 2 Fun Stop (Pigeon Forge): 1 Kennywood: 1 Coney Island: 1 Sticker's Grove: 1
  23. ^Every time I hear or see the name Gatekeeper, the word Keymaster pops into my head, and I suspect it always will. Who you gonna call?
  24. I don't really have a preference as to what side, as long as I'm in the middle seat of a car I'm fine. I was a little concerned about being a little banged up riding the blue side last year, but as can be seen in pretty much all the pictures in those videos, I was in the 2nd to last seat of the train for most of the day and I felt fine after 96 laps, covering 62 miles. I'm torn between KI & CP too. I love doing it at KI, I love Racer, it's my home park so there's a sense of loyalty, they treated us well and I would love to do it there again. But on the other hand Magnum and Gemini would be a great time too, CP's a great park, and I don't get up there as many times as I do KI so it would be a nice change of scenery. "Hmmm... what to do?" indeed!
