Exactly my concerns Delorean. The issue here is basic good manners which means not making fun of people or calling them names however much you feel they deserve it. This is something we learn from our parents ( I hope ). http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/eccentric "eccentric:" "irregular, erratic, peculiar , odd" http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hypocrite "Hypocrite:" "a person whose actions belie stated beliefs" --Beatle, just randomly browsing through the dictionary --

Difficult to see, the future is.....

Are you seriously defending the guy who claimed that Paramount "rigged the park" on Black Sunday? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21148

It is confusing; visitki says it is 301 feet tall, and guest soar at 300 plus feet??? The numbers do not add up. I believe WLWT stated that it would be the tallest ride in the park; but VKI says both ET and DT are both 315 feet. You can find one number on one page of VKI; and another number on another page. Remember it is Cedar Fair, who had no intention of closing Geauga Lake, and who only raised food prices about a nickle when they bought KI......

Well, we are all dumber for having read what was said in the original post.

He was making fun of the original poster.... Who also referred to the 48 inch height requirements on Surf Dog and White Water Canyon and Congo Falls.....

Why a capacity nightmare? It has a higher capacity then Drop Tower and Delirium combined. It shouldn't be that bad, it will be like adding two flat rides with low capacitys. How on earth do you figure that? WindSeeker holds 64 riders (32 dual seats) Drop Tower holds 40 riders Deliruim hold 50 riders So 64 riders is more than 40 and 50 combined? I really, truly am left speechless.

How on earth do you figure that? WindSeeker's max hourly capacity is 1,280 people. Delirium and Drop Tower have a hourly capacity of 500-600 people. Ride capacity won't be a problem with this ride. It has a three minute ride time and 64 seats. The capacity is 1280 only if it takes zero minutes and zero seconds to unload and load the ride. Do the math. In other words, don't believe everything the park puts on the Internet!

If we could get some of KI's defunct flats back...
BavarianBeatle replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
1. Bayern Curve 2. Enchanted Voyage 3. Sky Ride 4. Flying Eagles 5. Antique Cars And, of course, I agree with markr about Bavarian Beetle! -

You said "anything Huss".... -- Beatle, who has always respected you and would happily share a funnel cake anytime!

Let's look at the mechanicals: Conveyance to get the "gondola" up to the top of the tower (I would assume cable lift powered by motors located on the top maintenance platform or inside the tower) and Motor(s) that rotate the gondola. A traditional wheel and tire are visible in the animation and illustrations, and that's about as low tech as it gets. and Locks and Sensors on the restraints. As far as I can see, that's it. Here's how I see it. The gondola is completely free from the tower itself. The two are linked by the catchcar type structure that is dynamically affixed (dynamic meaning that the connection allows movement, in this case horizontal rotation). This apparatus is also connected to the cables that raise and lower the gondola. Now, anything at 300' can be problematic, but this seems to be pretty well tested technology. I don't have too many fears about downtime, unless the winds prove to be more of a problem than they were expecting . http://www.mondialrides.com/products They are the king of state fairs so I wouldn't rely on them too much Wow! Just wow! Nice post! How many of these rides are Huss frisbee imitations. No wonder Funtime was so upset!!! it will be more reliable than any thing Huss puts out. More reliable than Shake Rattle & Roll? Why don't we measure the downtime next year and bet a funnel cake on that....LOL!

And the worst, for that matter.... As the only new ride, it will necessarily be both.
-
And Dragster.... But rides are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated by human beings. We are, by our very nature, imperfect creatures, so there will be some bugs to work out. It happens and it's not a big deal.

On Opening Day it will be a VERY cold ride, unless the weather is unseasonably warm. Also, this thing is going to be a capacity nightmare, as pointed out in other threads, and that will be worse early in the season. So, right now, I'm leaning toward skipping it on Opening Day, but you never know until you get there......
-
They are prototypes; therefore, downtime is to be expected. I am also concerned that a problem on any one of the four may shut the other three down for modifications, which is simply a fact of life in these situations.
-
I merely pointed out that the new ride is constructed more like Linus than Zephyr because the cars are attached to a solid bar rather than a chain. I made no comment about the ride experience, nor will I until I ride it.

Is this a teaser press release...if so you've got my attention! Looks like something hesitated while my post was uploading or something....strange....

A few observations: 1. There was a thread regarding what KI should get for 2011. Anyone have a guess as to how many people said that KI needed a WindSeeker? Not one, zero, zip, zilch, nada! 2. The real capacity, based on a loading and unloading time of 90 seconds, is around 850 per hour 3. This ride is not like Zypher. It is Linus' Launcher. 4. Four cookie cutter WindSeekers with the name "Wind Seeker?!?! Are you kidding me?! I hope CF didn't actually pay someone to name these rides. 5. Although KI needs flat rides and has needed to do something with Coney for years, I don't see how a second observation ride is something the park needed. I did like Zodiac when I was a kid, but there is a far larger variety of rides available today. 6. To me this is not a thrill ride, but I guess it's better than nothing.
-
I did the same calculation. Either CF puts the same effort into calculating capacity as they do into naming their rides, or honesty isn't real high on their priority list.
-
Agreed. Star Flyers/Wind Seekers don't seem thrilling at all, it's just Zephyr 300'+ in the air and faster, but since the size of the 'ring' is wider, the faster speed won't seem as fast (kinda hard to explain but this all makes sense in my head). The only forces you will feel is lateral (barley). Of course the height adds to the thrill but if your not going to drop at a high speed than thats not too thrilling. Honestly, the idea of a Star Flyer/Wind Seeker doesn't make sense. The height attracts thrill seekers but since the ride doesn't do much but spin you in a circle in the air it's not even that thrilling or intense. Since it has low intensity/thrill than it's great for families except for the fact that it's so tall it'll scare away smaller children. So who exactly is this ride for...? Maybe those bars (edit: the ones connected to the seats, not the lap bars) can rise up to the point that you are swinging upside down at 400 feet.... That would qualify as a thrill ride!
-
You don't count flying around, four-hundred-plus feet in the air, with only a lap-bar to keep you in a "thrill ride"? Cause that sounds and looks pretty thrilling to me. Flying around? yes. Riding in a circle? Not at all. Unless it bounces you around and slams you against the lap bar and makes you feel like you're going to fall out.....
-
Mr. Helbig said its a thrill ride, so that rules out Star Flyer or Wind Seeker, unless Zephyr and the Eiffel Tower have now become "thrill rides"? And, no one has ever built a Wind Seeker before. Is CF really going to build four prototypes, which may or may not work, at four different parks?
