KI Opens for 39th season on April 30th, 2011
My point was he insinuated that routine maintenance was showing "care" to a ride. IMO, when it comes to FD, it's like the park bought a 1968 GTO, changed the oil every 3000 miles, never washed it and let the body panels rust out!

What`s next for Son of Beast?
But the curse of thrill rides is that they create the illusion of danger, so when the literal "needle in the haystack" accident happens, it gets hyped in the media. While everyday activities like driving an automobile are statistically many times more dangerous!

Metal is going to rust when it sits outside exposed to the elements no matter how many coats of paint are on it. All the rides are going to show visible signs of rust. True, Flight Deck looked absolutely atrocious the past few seasons, but a lack of paint doesn't imply they're doing the "bare minimum to pass State inspections." True it looks awful, but it doesn't imply the conclusion you're jumping to. That was in response to the prior post. He spoke of missing bolts and broken welds and faulty wheels on the trains, all of which are looked upon with disfavor during State inspections.... I meant nothing more than that and I feel that I was taken out of cantext by several people.

What is your favorite memory of the the 2010 season?
I remember those same things from 2007 with my children! My eyes were very watery that year! --Beatle, who won't tell you that your kids will start to get an "attitude" in two or thr.....Uh Oh!!! LOL!

What`s next for Son of Beast?
As do virtually park employees! I venture to say that the safest place to be in any park is on a ride!

I found something :)
That reminds me of how our parents gave my sister and I their trading stamps and then let us decide what we wanted to do with them. We didn't have a lot of money back then, but our decision was always 4 KI tickets, for one trip a year!

Very nice pictures! I hope that someday my parents let me dig through their attic for those old Polaroids from the 70s.......

I didn't realize you were familiar with the criteria for passing the state inspections. Oh that's right, you're not. And before you ask, yes, I am. I will not respond to your comments, as I do not feed trolls. You think I'm a troll? I have not and will not respond to your comments. There is a difference between informing you of this fact and responding to the substance of what you said. You obviously are not capable of recognizing the distinction. And the fact that you found it necessary to ask the quoted question after reading my last post confirms the extent of your "capabilies."

I'm sure rumors circulate among the staff at KI as well, so if he says he has heard stories about a new coaster coming, he may well have been telling the truth. The accuracy of what he heard is ,however, a different story.....

I Spy Something Odd...
I will be in Mason on November 21st and I will make sure to have my camera with me. If I post nothing, you will know that there is nothing interesting to see from anywhere off KI property......

KI Opens for 39th season on April 30th, 2011
Sorry but Planet Snoopy was not a "huge investment," and how is 2011 a make or break year for SoB? In the grand scheme of things, the park could care less if that ride sits for another season. The ride itself has sat idle for how long now? What's another season?...And where do you get the idea that just because FlightDeck doesn't have a fresh coat of paint that the ride is shown a "lack of care"? Do you think the wheels change themselves? How about the track bolts? I guess they replace themselves as well. Thankfully the ride has the self welding track option or that would never get done... You really don't "get it" dude. The ride looks attrocious. Allowing rides to visibly rust , while doing the bare minimum to pass State inspections, is,by definition, a "lack of care", IMO! However, from what I saw today, that may not be an issue next year.

Cold Weather Closures
As long as the water in the splashdown doesn't start to freeze. Flying ice would be quite interesting, to say the least

The hoses are, hopefully, for pressure washers, in preparation for painting !

The Best B&M Invert in the USA is...
As many know, I am generally not a fan of B&M coasters, but I enjoy Afterburn and Talon. I find Raptor to be nearly unrideable, as the attrocious brake run renders half the ride completely worthless. But Afterburn's tunnel and the air time on that drop in the middle of Talon make them very fun little rides!

Late Holiday World 2010 PTR
I loved the red train! It was SO much better than the dumbed down overly smooth blue things that I now consider pieces of crap! --Beatle, hoping the Timberliners leave bruises like a real coaster should!

In The Beast House, Why do they close the last car off to riders during close?
They intentionally decrease capacity at the end of the night in order to keep people in the park longer, and therefore more hungry and thirsty on the way out! Those nickles add up!

Carnevil Glasses
And yet, apparently, you still go.....

Holy downtime Batman.
For those who live quite some distance from the park, a day with big crowds, bad weather or lots of downtime is still not good...The season pass may lessen the bad taste left in the mouth, but it will not eliminate it... Kind of like my not so great adventure this year when it was crowded and 97 degrees before it rained.....

HH Photos
Yes, you can buy them online. In the past, I have saved the tickets, purchased 8X10s online, and given them as Christmas gifts to the friends in the pictures. They have been quite surprised!

Should KI and Cedar Fair Discontinue Halloween Haunt?
As Yogi Berra might say, "They need to discontinue Haunt, it's way too popular" --Beatle, who hates sold out Reds' games becuase they are just too crowded and, therefore. believes that the Reds should be banned from Cincinnati forever!

Driving to Kings Island from the Dayton area
If it's a weekend, avoid that flea market mess! There is construction in that area now as well! Take 75 South to Tylersville Road, turn left at the top of the exit ramp, and it will take you to Kings Island Drive. You will have to turn left at KI drive, so stay in that lane! That's the quickest way that I have found.
