  1. I couldn't agree more. It would be MUCH longer than Trail of Terror. And those people walking through the woods would not be spending nickles..... Edit: IF those lines represent the actual path..........
  2. If it is this toddler dinosaur thing or whatever people think it will be and the entrance/exit is next to Eurobobbles, I can't imagine trying to navigate that area of Coney Mall with the WindSeeker, Vortex, and AT crowds mixing with a few hundred strollers and wagons and a bunch of crying preschoolers.
  3. I will prefer Red Racer unless and until I get spat or puked on by a WindSeeker rider.....LOL
  4. Here is a pic of the shipping container and what was taken out sitting right next to the south park entrance. I have no idea about what will be in the announcement, but if I had to guess - I'd say that the item from the container will be mounted on that nice new concrete pad sometime around Friday. Perhaps a motor for WindSeeker? That's the best thing I can think of....
  5. Looks like those people have figured out that the ride wasn't worth the wait.....
  6. I can also envision them marketing this as: "Ride the thrilling new WindSeeker and get a birdseye view of the construction of BLEEEEEEEP!, soon to be the world's largest BLEEEEEP!"
  7. Just out of curiosity, do you know exactly what they're doing. what they're building or exactly what kind of on-site work is being done? I'd say the fact that it's called 2011 Teaser is more of an indication that it's for 2011 rather than it's called that because the video was made in 2011. I have no idea what they are building, but I do know that building even something as simple as a golf course requires that all of the things I described be done. There is an excavator in one of the park's photos, but I can't tell what it is doing. I also know that if "something big is coming to Kings Island" it will take time to do the land clearing and excavation work before they can start building anything. What I'm really trying to say is, no matter what people want or think this is, they need to be patient and not get their hopes up that whatever it is will be built within a matter of a few weeks.
  8. Work is obviously ongoing now. Assuming a May 30 opening, that still gives the park roughly ten weeks. And who's to say how much work has already been completed. Knott's Berry Farm had to move one of Silver Bullet's massive steel supports for their WindSeeker's construction. I'm not an engineer, but I doubt moving a few of Racer's wooden supports would be a massive undertaking. Just out of curiosity, when you did this kind of work how long did it take your company to clear trees, install storm drains and do the excavation work required to prevent flooding and erosion? .
  9. How long did it take to install Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular? Which, for the record, was far more than just stringing some lights up on trees. Foundations had to be poured for props, ground had to be dug for wiring, fencing had to be removed and more. The majority of which was done between the park's opening day and the attraction's opening day. If this teaser is for anything comparable in size or scope, a 2011 opening is definitely possible and plausible. Edit- Also, keep in mind that whatever this 2011 Teaser may be, it does not necessarily need to open on April 30. It could open Memorial Day Weekend, for example. That adds another month of time to work and construct it. Snoopys Starlight Spectacualar did not require any land clearing, the installation of storm drains, any excavation work, or any of the other things that will need to be done before anything at all can be built in the area behind The Racer. Trust me, if you just cut down a few trees and build something without doing that work, the first time there's a thunderstorm, whatever you built will be washed away or standing in about 6 inches of water. --Beatle, who did similar work for several summers during high school and college .
  10. Why do people think that this is something that is going to open in 2011? The words "2011 Teaser" mean only that the Teaser was made in 2011. If the construction pictures posted by Don are at all recent, whatever this is will not be open on April 30. They cannot clear the trees, remove the stumps, install drainage and electrical, cut swales and level/reshape the terrain to prevent erosion and standing water, put in pavement and landscaping and build anything in less than 7 weeks. I don't see anything opening in that area in 2011.
  11. Those containers look a lot like the one in KI's parking lot and a lot like the ones being used in the last three pictures here: http://www.intimidator305.com/public/latest/gallery/index.cfm?gallery_directory=construction&startRow=211&maxRow=30
  12. A wild goose chase makes more sense than anything else I've read. --Beatle,once again feeling apologetic to the people who are longing for a kiddie attraction
  13. I, for one, do not agree. By my count we have no less than 7 family coasters already: three in Planet Snoopy, BLSC, Racer, AE and Flight Deck. And Drop Tower and Delirium are the only flats (except upcharge attractions) that could be called "thrill rides." (I don't know yet about WindSeeker.) If anything, the last thing KI needs is another kiddie/family attraction, IMO. Edit--My memory has repressed all thoughts of The Crypt......
  14. Wouldn't the most likely addition for 2011 be WindSeeker?
  15. Whose chins are getting this coaster? Perhaps that person should get that goiter checked......
  16. I don't think Flight Deck has aged poorly, at least as far as the ride experience is concerned. I agree with you there-my only complaint about Flight Deck is that the ride is too short. I agree, especially with the long walk to get to it, but it is another Arrow that has held up relatively well. And now that I think about it, Corkscrew is also ok considering its age.
  17. Raptorguy said he was going to tell people bad things about Vortex and WindSeeker if they didn't give him his precious little ERT on Diamondback....... Looks like more toddler level sulking to me!
  18. I don't think Flight Deck has aged poorly, at least as far as the ride experience is concerned.
  19. Who cares how old Vortex is? That doesn't mean nobody cares about it. Um....exactly how old is The Beast? Racer? Pretty sure people still care about those and they are much older than Vortex. It's still a very popular ride and its popularity will most likely be increased with the new foot traffic going towards that section of the park with WindSeeker opening this year! Well, the fact is, Beast and Racer are actually good coasters. Wood coasters get better with age, typically. Some don't, obviously, but Beast And Racer DO get better with age. Steel coasters are NOT like that. They get fatigued, and end up getting so rough, you have to take them out. Vortex never was that great to start with. It was unique for maybe 3 or 4 years, because for awhile, it had the most loops of any coaster in the country. Then GASM came out and it had 7 loops. Arrow loopers, though are going to start disappearing from the landscape more and more, since they are not made anymore. Most of Toomer's coasters were just not very good. Vortex was actually one of his better ones, which really isn't saying much. Just most of the other ones like it were more unrerideable than Vortex. So, keep in mind, wood coasters-better with age, steel coasters-worse with age. It will be interesting to see how well B&M's hold up. They are in their 20th year, and the ones that old are not doing so hot, but from Raptor on, most are holding up a lot better. Maybe they will change this theory! Racer has improved with age?!? Spoken like someone who never rode it in the 70s and 80s. --Beatle, who enjoys Vortex far more than any B oring & M ediocre coaster he has ever ridden
  20. In those two most recent pictures I see vehicle tracks..... Apparently, work has begun on whatever this is.
  21. I would be willing to bet that if you watched that video without the bleeps, it still wouldn't tell us anything about what is being announced next week. And I would also be willing to bet that they wouldn't do a teaser for a kiddie dinosaur attraction. (Sorry to dissappoint so many people).
  22. Perhaps it is a dinosaur movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsKO_r76kfQ But if it is a dinosaur walk through, they better not it "Dinosaurs Alive." --Beatle, who has hated false advertising ever since he finished his everlasting gobstopper after watching "The Neverending Story."
