Judging by all the comments that KI has had to censor from its Facebook page, I would say that this is going to cost them something more than the nickels it costs to install the exhibit. How much, I do not know. But the park is obviously hoping that the revenue exceeds those combined "costs" and that they make a profit. I share that hope.

Yeah, Ohio Law, that's what I meant. Anyway, you should know where I got it from, the employees that ride you up the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower. They say no spiting or dropping anything from up there because it's against the law and it could kill someone. To clear this up, it'll have to be taken to the Eiffel Tower department. Perhaps it was a rumor created within their department from a belief without facts to back it up. However, by you saying spitting and dropping stuff from that height is harmless and won't kill anyone, wouldn't you be encouraging people to break the law? If it's against the law, it has to be for safety reasons. Oh yeah, I know that spit from 265 feet can kill me. That's why I don't go out in the rain drops that fall from much higher.....

And the restraint consisted of a single buzz bar, and no raised seat backs or seat dividers, there was real air time on The Racer and an upcharge animal attraction that was actually worth paying for.......

I believe that this thread exposes just how absurd it is to compare this cheap walk-through Dinosaurs Alive trail to the many live animals and air conditioned monorail that made up the Safari!

A tip of the hat to you! As someone with a college degree in History, I must say that I could not have done better! Thank you for bringing back lots of memories. --Beatle, who went to that Joan Jett concert in 1982.....

Last year I was told that an employee needs to witness it or there need to be a whole lot of witnesses for them to do anything about it. Makes sense, they probably want to avoid a lawsuit from someone who says they were being picked on because of their race or something. But I don't know... anyone know more? I would like to see them use cameras.

For 2012: A crackdown on line jumpers.

Neither side of the debate in this thread makes a whole lot of sense to me. We are getting a dinosaur attraction. Period. It is not "bad" simply because it is not a roller coaster. On the other hand, it is not "good" simply because the people who dislike it complain that it isn't a coaster. The coulda, woulda, shoulda is irrelevant.

Along with keychains and refrigerator magnets, and who knows what else.

I'm not a marketing guy, but, to me, it would seem to make sense to sell the tickets for the attraction in the gift shop so that people will have to walk past the merchandise to get a ticket. And/or have the exit run through the gift shop as well, like Maverick and DB. And a photo of some kind will certainly bring in nickels as well.

I believe post #20 in this thread would belie that assertion. --Beatle, just kidding, but agreeing that you make a good point.

But KI did those first. King Cobra was later duplicated as well. I liked the days when KI was a leader. I think it's really the name that bothers me. It seems, to me anyway, that using the same name as the older travelling exhibit seems a bit beneath, for lack of a better word, a world class park. And I'm not angry or griping, I'm actually a bit saddened by this.

Come on now brother. Wasn't Diamondback a recycled idea? How many B&M Hypercoasters are out there? Maybe you can go "rogue" and boycott this with Raptorguy as he refrains from riding WindSeeker and Vortex. To answer your question: 10, according to RCDB. I said I won't spend my money on Dinosaurs Alive. Since it's an upcharge, it should be pretty obvious that I will not be going through it. I really have no interest in it and have not cared for these dinosaur things for many years. Regarding the recycled nature of Dinosaurs Alive, Kings Island has a history of unique, state of the art rides and attractions (there are some exceptions, of course). I feel that an identical idea that has been used countless times under the same name flies in the face of this tradition. I think Kings Island is better than that.

i understand that nearly everyone has something they dislike about the park, the part about the "different taste among the members" i completely agree with. my post was directed more towards the ones who feel the need to lash out against the park for anything they do (ones that are using "i hate the park for doing *insert reason here*" and "Kings Island couldn't have made a more worse decision, ect...), these are the people that get the most attention and give the site the bad wrap some people have with the site. as stated above in the post, i was referring mainly to the few members who seem to have nothing positive to say about the park. I agree, sometimes people, myself included, tend to overreact to things.

Many people have things they do not like about the park. Just by way of example, many people have very different opinions of SoB and The Crypt. I personally don't care for dinosaurs, so I will not be spending my money on Dinosaurs Alive. Others will like it and choose differently. I don't feel different tastes among the members reflects poorly on the site at all.

Didn't have to do much construction work? Yes, because lying a pathway nearly a mile long, placing 60+ dinosaurs (including 56 animatronics), wiring the animatronics, possibly installing and wiring lighting and speakers too, building fences and signage, installing a kids' paleontological dig site and an excavation site replica, and constructing (or refurbishing a pre-existing building) into a 1,500 square-foot gift shop. Yep, that's not much construction work at all. Relatively speaking, it really isn't.
-
Very true. All anyone can do is choose not to spend money on this, if they don't care for it. Whether that will have any effect on anything depends on how many people make that choice.

In case anyone missed this: http://www.upillar.com/listings/70125-dinosaurs-alive-at-the-toledo-zoo-dinamation-1988-ticket-stub-souvenir This is a recycled idea. It has been run into the ground for over two decades. If people want to pay for something like this there are plenty of roadside "gyp joints" out there. I will not! pay for this nor will I sit here and be a Kool Aid drinking fanboy who pretends that this lame, recycled idea is good simply because it's "new at Kings Island."

How long did it take to install Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular? Which, for the record, was far more than just stringing some lights up on trees. Foundations had to be poured for props, ground had to be dug for wiring, fencing had to be removed and more. The majority of which was done between the park's opening day and the attraction's opening day. If this teaser is for anything comparable in size or scope, a 2011 opening is definitely possible and plausible. Edit- Also, keep in mind that whatever this 2011 Teaser may be, it does not necessarily need to open on April 30. It could open Memorial Day Weekend, for example. That adds another month of time to work and construct it. Snoopys Starlight Spectacualar did not require any land clearing, the installation of storm drains, any excavation work, or any of the other things that will need to be done before anything at all can be built in the area behind The Racer. Trust me, if you just cut down a few trees and build something without doing that work, the first time there's a thunderstorm, whatever you built will be washed away or standing in about 6 inches of water. --Beatle, who did similar work for several summers during high school and college . So, not going to open for 2011, eh? I mean, there's no way that they could complete all excavation and prep work for this to be for 2011... It has to be for 2012. Thanks for reminding me why I consider half your posts complete jokes I stand corrected. They didn't have to do much construction work, apparently.....

EPIC FAIL Hey Kings Island, 1988 called. They want their exhibit back. http://www.upillar.c...stub-souvenir#. And "Livin' on a Prayer" thinks that dinosaur walks have been run into the ground. And Hula Hoops, Pet Rocks, Cabbage Patch Kids, and Beanie Babies are upset that they weren't included in this.

Whatever they announce tomorrow will be PERFECT! The park could not possibly do anything less. Please pass the Kool Aid and a fan, boy ......
