They said that there would be an announcement about KI's 40th anniversary in August. Then, In August, they announced that Season Passes for that season would go on sale on Labor Day weekend. No one can say that they lied. .

Sorry Folks Park is Closed
BavarianBeatle replied to pkiboy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This is a Category 2 hurricane hitting an area much less vulnerable than New Orleans. It will not destroy any amusement parks unless things change drastically. -
Disappointed with Holiday World
BavarianBeatle replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I must respectfully disagree. I would say that our visit to Holiday World this year cost us about $200 less than a comparable visit to KI or CP would cost a family of 4 without passes. (Unless that family did Fast Lane and the Dinosaurs, which would bring the difference to $428). -
DA at Cedar Point in 2012

Very little increase in overall revenue here. The few suckers that pay for this will simply take money that they would have spent on cotton candy or games and use it to see the Dinos! -

I could not agree more with Dave! -
Yes. --Beatle, who can't believe that you don't know better than to ask that question

BavarianBeatle replied to mccarthysnerd's topic in Coming Attractions
You have to put quarters in them to get them to work. -

Canada's Wonderland 2012
BavarianBeatle replied to Beast1979's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That will account for some of it. But Millennium's lift hilll takes about 30 seconds, so an extra 90 seconds (which would mean a two minute lift hill and a 1:28 ride) would really stack the trains, unless they run it with two trains like Flight Deck or have a separate unloading area like MF. I am also assuming that the 3:28 figure is accurate, which may be my mistake. -
Canada's Wonderland 2012
BavarianBeatle replied to Beast1979's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The first B&M Giga isn't even built yet and it's already "more reliable." Gotta love the fanboys! And Leviathan is 5,486 feet and has a ride time of 3:28, while MF is 6,595 and 2:20. Those are gonna be some strong trims! I would suggest that CW contact Foghat about providing the theme song for this. -
cedar point rumor

http://www.iconoclastreport.com/news/health/190-nami Everything you need to know about NAMI can be found here. From the article "Board member Richard Lamb resigned...saying NAMI's dependence on drugmakers made some actions impossible, such as warning against the use of some mental health drugs with life-threatening side effects." -
They already have Great Pumpkin, Woodstock Express, Flying Ace, and BLSC. Quite a collection for those who like small coasters, IMO.

Cedar Creek Mine Ride?!? I understand that it was built a long time ago, but it has become obsolete, and is, in no way, a good ride by today's standards. And they put a seat belt on it....LOL!

The flats at CP are very good! Power Tower, MaXair, Calypso, Matterhorn, Ocean Motion, WindSeeker, Giant Wheel, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. CP has won those Golden Ticket Awards for a reason.
-
Why? I just don't get why you would say this. Oh come on, KIfan1980. Who in their right mind doesn't like seeing great rides removed? --Beatle, slowly shaking his hurting head.....

The officer's behavior was inappropriate. He should have calmly and professionally, without yelling, escorted you from the park and revoked your pass.
-
I don't either. Maximum capacity assumes that people do not try to bring on children who are too small or loose articles, don't wear shoes, wind up with a "walk of shame," etc. In reality, capacity depends, in a large part, on the intelligence of the passengers.

No. --Beatle, answering the question as asked.

http://www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#CedarFair I could'nt agree more with what Lance has written here. WARNING: This link contains material that some people may consider to be crirical of Kings Island and Cedar Fair and may cause extreme distress, nevousness and trembling among ACE members, fanboys, Kool Aid drinkers, and others with a low tolerance for words that portray Kings Island and/or Cedar Fair as less than divine. These individuals should consult a physician or other medical professional prior to opening this link.

I agree. A pack of 55 could have BLSC completely to themselves for as long as they wanted, could limit FoF (with two trains running) to 5 people from the queue every third train, and seriously reduce access to all of the other rides on that list.
-
I'm with Gordon Bombay on this one. I'm not an ACE member, but they are free to run their organization as they choose. It has no effect on me.

I pay $5.00 to sit in the top deck of Great American Ballpark, wait in a line and miss parts of the game for a crappy hot dog, use a bathroom that smells of beer and tobacco spit and watch ants play baseball when I occasionally can't see Jay Bruce make catches in Right Field due to the obstructed view. Other people pay $250.00 to sit close enough to chat with Brandon Phillips, be waited on hand and foot, have beer and any food they want brought to them while they get to enjoy a bathroom with a restroom attendant. This is an elitist program by the Reds that will send a message to many people that, "we treat them better because they are richer than you." How many people will quietly not come to Great American Ballpark after getting this impression? Tonight about 20,000, judging from what I've seen on tv.
-
Or just auction off the seats on every ride to the highest bidder, which is aimed at the true goal of the program. But seriously, what Mr. Helbig and the others at CF are not taking into accout are the people who spend hundreds of dollars at the park , spend their entire day getting line jumped , and then decide to "make the most of" their remaining free days by going fishing. This is an elitist program that will send a message to many people that, "we treat them better because they are richer than you." How many people will quietly not come back to KI after getting this impression?

Dinosaurs To Roam At Cedar Point?
BavarianBeatle replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
No. It would be very sad.
