Well, I took the boys on their first long vacation this year. We ended up going to five parks and riding fifty coasters. Needless to say they had a ball! We started out at Cedar Point from June 25 through June 28, where I had a seminar for work. It stormed on the way up, but by the time we got to the hotel the rain had stopped and I was able to get some good pictures. I had classes on Friday and Saturday morning, but we got plenty of quality time at the park and went to a movie and the Sandusky Speedway as well. The kids love Maverick And the beach And, of course , MF! On Sunday, we had company for lunch. And enjoyed a beautiful sunset ride on Maverick on Friday.... The downtime on the rides annoyed them (and me)... But we managed to ride all 17 coasters. Yes, all of them...... After that we spent Monday the 29th at Kennywood. Phantom's Revenge was a lot of fun, Thunderbolt was a nice old coaster with single bar restraints, no seatbelts, and no seat dividers. That brought back a lot of memories! But my favorite coaster at Kennywood was Jack Rabbit. I found Kennywood to be a very nice little park and I enjoyed it very much. As you can see, the kids enjoyed the park, but they found it a bit boring after CP. Then I managed to step on my cell phone charger at the hotel and destroy the end that plugs into the phone. Luckily, there was a Verizon store close by.... The kids thought the hotel was haunted and blamed the "ghosts". LOL!

Once back in the 90's while sweeping the Vortex line, I saw a lady wearing a brief bikini top (Dolly Parton size) along with cut off shorts exposing her bikini bottoms and she had a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Did it cause her to blush or turn red?? Nope. She just fixed it as if nothing happen. I remember her because she was wearing a red, white, and blue bikini and you might say she was showing her "colors!" I think this is ok over at the water park, but not in the park itself. I think all bathing suits should be covered, even the tops. Because I am proud of the work I do, I made sure that part of the line was spotless. Speaking of doing good work, once while working for Montgomery Wards as a porter, I was pushing a dust mop along the hall when the lady I refered to as "Miss America", was wearing her usual purple skirt with a slit going all the way up the side of her leg. As she past me and I turned my head to keep her in my sight, I ran into one of my supervisor friend. He knew what I was doing and laughed also. The point is wearing revealing bikini tops or any other clothing is a distraction. Also beings we are a family park, children are witness to this. They should not have to see this. They are a distraction! My favorite story was from 2007 when I was with my (then younger) kids walking through Coney Mall: While I was "distracted" by an attractive woman in a bikini top, one of them said "Look how big those are!" I looked down and fortunately he was pointing to the stuffed Spider Man prizes at one of the games! But I was worried for a second and actually feared that I was "busted".....

Other route to get to CP (than using 6)
BavarianBeatle replied to khaoskat's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
No, it is after Freemont somewhere on the last 17 miles of 6....right around where 6 and the Ohio Turn pike cross paths if I remember correctly... Then I would recommend turning left on Route 53 and taking that up to the Turnpike. That's what we will do when we go this weekend. -
I will go in reverse order: 3. The kids' first opening day rope drop of their lives 2. Taking a vacation day to go to the Diamondback announcement 1. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ber+trip+report

Where exactly is the detour? Is it before Freemont? -
Sounds like a neat event. We will probably go to it, but, if you go, get there early. My kids have baseball games at Joyce Park and it's a traffic nightmare! There are only two one lane roads into Joyce Park. And the last time they had a big soccer tournament there they directed all of the traffic to one entrance and used the other as the exit.

I rode it several times this year and didn't notice anything different about it, except no decal on the front of the red train.....
-
I don't know. The Voyage shirts that the kids and I wore were pretty close to the line.
-
Especially the young girls! More than once, I've thought that KI is a pedophiles' dream come true! It would be frightening if one (or more) of these sick predators started frequenting the park!
-
If you get the chance, don't miss a Sunday in October, especially if it is a nice day! The crowds are very light and the experience is a very pleasant one!
-
I used to wear my tee shirts that way. During summer football practice (when we weren't in pads) and when I had an outdoor summer job.... But never to KI!

Source:http://visitkingsisland.com/events/events.cfm Why don't they just throw those comic books on the ground next to the coasters now?
-
And here I was thinking that SoB being closed was bad news.....

Since I'm older, I would say my first ride on The Beast in 1979. I was 10 years old, and I was riding the greatest coaster in the world..... Need I say more?
-
God Bless Him!! I was always taught to lift my arms and completely relax my body on coasters and just enjoy the ride. I have told my kids the same thing, and we get thrown around like rag dolls too. This works VERY well on DB, where you can just go limp and float!!
-
And I, as always, avoided being videoed for the same reason...... LOL!!
-
sounds like something I'd do as well Or someone's friend who was messing with them by throwing it up there, or someone who had a basketball and was drunk..... Any number of possibilities on this one.
-
I'm sorry too then.... Your post was directly after mine, so I assumed it was a response. That's what I get for assuming.

Please explain how what I posted is off topic?

I would call Jeff Gramke and everyone else who was involved in The Beast who is still there into my office and ask them the following: "In 1979, you were involved in something that turned out to be very, very special..... And I remember as a child exactly HOW special it was.... Now it's 2009, and we have $100 million. Can we do it again for my children?"
-
I saw that too! ;D I saw it too, but I wondered how someone managed to get it on the ride. There's not exactly a lot of opportunity to conceal it in DB's seats.

Yes for sure a 1 day park. Depending on your plans, you may also want to keep heading up to Waldameer in Erie Pa and get 2 parks in over the weekend. Terpy, the employees attitude was the most disappointing thing about the trip for me. I love to chat up the employees. I did find a few that we had some fun with but not many. My SIL wanted soft serve ice cream so when I got to the window I told Dan that I had heard that he made his cones bigger then what she did (the person working the other window). He responded by saying "no, she makes them bigger" I replied that I guess I got in the wrong line then. He next brought me over a ginormous cone that was 2" taller then everyone else's. The ride ops also seemed shocked when I called them by name and thanked them. I don't know if it is just the farther east you go the less manners and politeness count? Has me worried about Dorney & SFGAd. We are planning on Dorney and Hershet as well during that trip. But after talking to my brother, I think they do the Civil War reenactment at Gettysburg the week of the 4th. I think I should probably take the boys to that, if possible!

Sounds like a one day trip when we go at the end of the month!
