  1. Why the first drop? For the first half, the chain might as well take you down. Sorry, couldn't resist a trim slam!
  2. Like what? ride The Racer? Good move! Insulting him is going to get you great respect from this community. I didn't mean to insult him. I was just saying the man loves to ride The Racer. What's wrong with that? I LOVE RIDING The Racer!!! Its a great ride! Dont insult The Racer I'm glad to see Racer still has fans besides me after all these years! I also love The Racer - especially the last little hill before the turnaround (the good air hill). Kudos to all of you for spelling the name right! Thank you!
  3. That sounds familiar. I've done that quite a few times! One of them was last season for Six Flags St. Louis, and it is the only park that was new to me that isn't pictured on the "new parks of 2008" bulletin board that I made in January for the new year. I wish that I could post PTR's effectively, but I haven't had time to play with Image Shack to get the pictures to post the way I want them. It also takes forever for each picture to upload on snail-up.
  4. She wasn't being critical, just messing with me. Like I said, I had seen her several times that season. She proceeded to offer to take my picture while sitting in the train, so it wasn't an issue. She was just chatting for fun.
  5. I guess I know who it is if I hear that screamed out sometime this year. Don't be surprized if I say hi! When I think to do it, I like to play the old Tomb Raider queue music in the car followed by "Tell Me Baby" from Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is started as soon as I get on I-71 from I-275. I always park in the same spot - shall remain hidden lest anyone want to park there. Then as I leave, I always turn back toward the Eiffel Tower as soon as I get to the front of International Street. I take in the view for a few moments, say goodnight, and give International Street a wink. Then, I tell all of the coasters bye on the way to the interstate. They're more like my friends than coasters!
  6. Then Avatar and I can no longer be considered KIBB addicts, since we heard that music WAY too much last year! You may be a KI addict if, while your wife and daughter are away in Florida April 28th - May 3rd, you plan to take the day off work Friday May 1st and go to the park (even though it's Math & Science Day), and have been mulling over maybe taking a road trip to visit another park on May 2nd and possibly seeing if anyone in the KIC Universe may be interested in joining you so you don't have to go alone. More on this later...too bad CP's not open then...but I have a few parks in mind... I'll definitely see you on the first, unless something major and unexpected happens.
  7. You nailed it! I also seem to remember it being a very jerky ride all the way through.
  8. According to Webster, both are correct. I looked it up before I even posted it. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/etcetera
  9. The wooden coasters at Kings Island are re-ridable. My personal best is 13 in a row on The Beast, 11 on The Racer, and who knows what it would be on Son of Beast...they have the rule that you have to walk around, but I've made up to 5 trips around. (I'm not even going to touch my opinions on the walk around rule.) Some of us prefer wooden coasters to steel ones, so let those of us who prefer wood have our wooden coasters. There are more than enough steel ones in the park for you to enjoy, and including one new one that I can't wait to ride! Come on April!
  10. I'm not saying that's the only reason for the problem, so you can use any excuse you want! English is not everyone's strong point. Which is odd since we speak it...strange. Yes, oh well. Shouldn't is a contraction and needs an apostrophe. There's one last one for the road. Now then, I think we can just agree that making a good faith effort to use correct spelling, puntuation, capitalization, and etcetera is a good thing for the readers of your posts and is enough for these purposes. No one is perfect, and it would drive you crazy to try to be. I hope something new develops with Diamondback's trains, or this thread will be so far off topic that it will be a train wreck.
  11. I bolded the errors or text message lingo. My post contained sarcasm. In this case, it was a phrase that stated the opposite of what I meant in order to be a smart aleck. Do you need to pay more attention in English class, or sarcastic post class? I can teach both, though the first I can only teach at Ivy Tech. Flyer...who's just messing with you, Jackson!
  12. Judging by the pictures we've seen courtesy of Mr. Helbig, I doubt that will be your reaction.
  13. I thought you didn't like that color, Gordon. It looked really good to me. There are very few purple coasters out there, so I like Terpy's suggestion too.
  14. I was taking pictures of The Beast's station toward the end of last season - just in case. I was asked by a ride operator (that I had seen many times and we really enjoyed each other) if I was taking some good pictures. I told her I thought so, and was asked "are you taking some good pictures on the rides?" I immediately recognized that this was a trick question, but just said no, and was asked "would you tell me if you were?" Without missing a beat I said "probably not, but I follow the rules here." She said she believed me. I told the truth by the way, but I still wonder what she would have said/done if I had told her that I had been taking on ride photos. (Which I had not...just to reiterate.)
  15. I'm ashamed to admit, I had no clue. Thanks for posting that info!
  16. Agreed on all counts. The basketballs didn't annoy me until last season. I'm not sure if it was something new or not, but it was very annoying and noticeable on opening day and continued all season long. Beast Rider and I were both ready to fling the basketball as hard as we could over the railing of a restricted area the next time one bounced into us. If you keep an open mind, the only thing that is radically different is the row of metal detectors. Let's get rid of those, then! Personally, I think KI's entrance is much better than 90% of other amusement parks. (at least)
  17. Why say it when it has already been said for me? ...Because I'm dare-to-fly and can't resist. What else do you expect when a trim is installed at any point for any reason and subsequently used. Let's hope they don't use the one installed on Diamondback nor the almost guaranteed trimming at the mid-course brake run. Flyer, who had to comment on his most touchy subject.
  18. Oh, someone does. Unfortunately, you can barely tell what it is unless you know it by heart or turn the volume all the way up. (From the backstage tour of The Beast on KIC Day: The Second Coming) For the record...that's poetry. It also truely captures how I feel about KI. I was blown away by the royal fountains on my first visit to Kings Island, and have been impressed by them every trip since. You're all right! There is something to that one spot of ground that makes it the most magical place on the planet. I'm ready to be back again for the atmosphere, for my first campout on The Beast, for the first lap on each side I make on The Racer, for the first Rose Bowl and hoping for no mid-course on SOB, for the first drop on Vortex, and for my first inventory on how many trim brakes there are. Just being in the International Restaurant was refreshing, but I can't wait for the first day! How fast it will go by! Was that verbose enough for you?
  19. I'll certainly keep this in mind. I'm doubtful that I'll go much higher. Any more and I'll be sacrificing money that I just don't have to spend right now. It goes back to the economy!
  20. There was Gold Pass Early Ride Times last year. It was on certain rides each month and started at 9:30. It was only on certain days a month, and it depended on the month. I'm unaware on how the early ride times worked, as I was never there on those days, but they did exist. Flyer, who knows of the question, but not how to answer it.
  21. Okay...I think that one takes the cake! That's pretty...well...hilarious.
  22. I agree. That would be the reason that I said I'm not so sure it's paw prints that we should look forward to. I still think it's something related to The Beast, but I hope it's not G-trains.
  23. How interesting. It's not very often that I get to be in someone else's dreams! Yay me! Okay...have to report this. I finally got to have a Kings Island dream last night. I was getting on The Racer on opening day. For some reason, we loaded on Blue Racer, and left the station on Red Racer's track. Who knows? Anyway, around the corner past Subway over the little bumps at the transfer track. Then up the lift we went, and got almost to the top...alarm goes off here. I almost murdered it by hitting the snooze button so hard. The dream never came back. The one time I've gotten a KI dream this winter, and the alarm ruins it. Insert dirty word here!
  24. It certainly helps. I blame many peoples' lack of proper spelling, punctuation, and capitalization on the latest craze of text messaging, and even e-mails to a degree. If you get used to not caring, it's no longer second nature to type it correctly. When I get e-mails from students who don't bother with these essentials, I have been known to send the e-mail back proofed for them. It sometimes gets their attention.
