I completely agree with you on this one. My monthly checks to see what the meal deals were ended in July. After that, I realized that the only meal deals that you get were family meals. I wish there was a version of the meal deal suitable for one passholder. Personally, I thought the food was much better this past year. I also think that Stunt Crew Grill's bacon cheddarburger is wonderful, and I don't know of anywhere else outside of KI besides Chick-Fil-A that you can get those delicious waffle fries. One thing that has kept me from being annoyed with food and drink prices is to always get an all day drink wristband, and also to remember that Kings Island is a park that I cherish. Buying the high priced food directly benefits the park and makes sure that it stays open and successful. Eating in the parking lot picnic grove is, in some ways, like turning your back on Kings Island.

The Beast in the Theme Park Insider best ride tournament
dare-to-fly replied to erniebald57's topic in Kings Island
I always refer to The Beast and Son of Beast as "he" and Vortex as "she." Vortex's gender comes from the post here a long time ago about Vortex being "The Beast's girlfriend." The rest of the coasters are undecided and often vary by mood. -
It's not just you, and this is great advice. I didn't think about posting it, but this is how I'm able to keep my hands up in the Rose Bowl. Well...that and leaning forward slightly. Not a bunch, or you'll end up hunched over, but a little. (I made the mistake once of leaning over too much and ended up trying to eat a lap bar sandwich.) Also, a tip for avoiding the painful problem of elbowing someone is to lock your elbows all the way out and hold on to one of your thumbs. That makes your arms a lot more stable. Rose Bowl - hold your back upright and staight as well.

Ride with me and you'll comprehend it. I almost always do - back seat and all. Wooden coasters - hands up after the first ride. I have to know where all of the twists and turns are first. Then, after I get the layout down, I'm hands up almost all the time. Once in a while - like Voyage - it takes a little longer than one ride for me to feel comfortable being hand-up, but not often. It took three on Cyclops' back seat. That's my record. Steel coasters, it completely depends and varies by the coaster. For the record...it's against Ohio State Law to raise your hands on a coaster...or so I've been told. That's probably why I'm a hands-up person.

Understandable. House is from Indy, and I'm not far from there. It can't be much different for me. It isn't as far as you might think depending on the direction of travel, amount of time you spend piddling, and how much of a lead foot/slow poke you are.
-
Now you have reached my plan. I'll be doing just that, but because ACE's Spring Fling is on the 28th. Dollywood is just on my way back. It's only an 8-ish hour trip. Why bother to split it? Then again, I never break my trips into pieces anyway and your level of tolerance for being on the road may be very different.

Toss up to what? At least SoB has the advantage of being fast...therefore fun...at least until the... TS.103

I believe this is the best post in the whole thread at the moment, so I'll bump it up some more. I don't think I need to say anything about my opinion on this notion, as you already know how I feel. TS.102 I'll be excited to see just how much work has been done on The Beast. I've been thinking...it has hurt...but I think I may have to keep tradition and begin my KI season on The Beast like normal. It's too painful not to do so. I'll hit Diamondback toward the end of ERT, but I'm certainly not going to miss it!

Hmmmm.... It's a good thing you guys weren't at the new year's event at Beech Bend. Riding the Kentucky Rumbler in even colder temperatures was still fun for me. The tour wasn't that big a deal was it? I wasn't at the KI Central tour - thanks, Beast Rider, for having to work - but I was at the ACE tour. If you were dressed for it, what's the problem? It's winter, you know. Prepare! Okay, so I'm just messing with you. I really felt sorry for Don, who had dress pants and a sweatshirt on. Brrrr! It shows that he cares about us all very much to have two tours in one day in weather that was less than desirable. Thanks again!

Judging by last year, they never seem to go home. We were hoping against all hope that they would last year. Admittedly, the first Friday in May wasn't all that busy, but the rest were as packed as I ever want to see Kings Island. I tend to prefer walk-on days, but who doesn't?

A certain Flyer believes this is an oxymoron, but hopes that if it will make the majority of guests happy, great! It is?? Error...does not compute. Of course, that would have been the first thing out of my mouth. I can hear it now. How about this date...no, that's Kings Island's opening day...how about this one...no that's Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend...how about this one...no that's coastermania...how about this one...no that might be a walk on day...then marry an amusement park...I have to pick just one?...(and it would all go downhill from there on a great big rollercoaster of an argument.) Flyer, who congratulates you, but who could never marry a non-enthusiast.

I'm sure we all have input, but your first ride of the season is up to you. I'm planning to hit Diamondback as soon as I can to avoid waiting in lengthy lines. Other than that, I'm happy with my usual pattern. I always start and end with The Beast. It's a tradition of mine that I don't anticipate changing much. Usually the pattern starts when I ride The Beast umpteen times, and then I work my way to The Racer while skipping Firehawk and then depending on lines, sometimes Backlot and FoF as well. From there, I tend to head to Son of Beast, but it depends. Afterward...Stunt Crew Grill or Beast-Rivertown LaRosa's Pizza-Beast again. From there, it's anyone's guess. Fill in the gaps and reride when I feel like it. Typically the pattern lasts until about 1:00.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
dare-to-fly replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Did I notice? Do you really have to ask ME that question?????? The first was off, but the last was still present. It was actually off for the last couple of weeks, which in my opinion was a huge improvement to a coaster that's already a blast! Even just that one brake made all the difference in the world to me. Not to mention, crashing into the lift had a "crash" to rival that of Son of Beast, and that is saying something. I also noticed that for a couple of weeks the last trim on The Racer was off. They put it back for closing day, which made me mad. It was so much fun flying through it into the brake run at almost full speed. (I say almost because of the other trim at the turnaround which they of course wouldn't just turn off or get rid of altogether - see signature.) I actually had my best ride ever on The Racer at Halloween Haunt. The spotlight and fog from Urgent Scare made it a whole new experience on one particular evening. The fog was in bands across the bottoms of most of the hills and made it a very different experience. Then there was the whole last trim off thing, and that just made for a great ride. Crap...if only the one at the turnaround had been off. Okay...trim rant #101 over. -
Yes...before Turk...I mean Terpy beats me to it. AND...I believe it should be "was written" and "question" and "tickle, plus there's the whole "the word I is capitalized at all times" thing. You're begging for equal rights, and those are just off the top of my head? Equal rights for the spelling impaired can be given if one makes a good faith effort to use correct spelling. You admitted and demonstrated that you don't...so... At least you're honest, and I'll leave you alone! Didn't expect that, did you? I'll save my correcting for my English students, who probably get just as tired of it. Too bad...they paid for the class. Bwa ha ha ha! Flyer, who does tire of correcting everyone's spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
dare-to-fly replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Once you learn to ride it, there's no problem at all. I just checked my total from last year. In 2008, I rode Son of Beast 52 times, so it is definitely possible to survive. That's the third most ridden coaster on my list. It's just behind The Racer at 105 (55 red and 50 blue) and The Beast at 201. Flyer, who prefers it when the brakes are blown and would prefer ERT with that in mind. PS. Trimless Beast ERT would be a nice and pleasant surprise as well, and almost a desperate obsession of mine! Hint Hint Wink Wink!!!!! Actually...trimless anything at ERT would be great. -
Nice job on the rhyme, But I'll not give you a dime. Rhyme with an h is spelled correctly, Remember that or I'll tell you directly. A peom in writing must have good grammar, Lest the reader just studder and stammer. But thanks for the try, And don't go and cry. You were very good, And we knew that you would. Flyer, who should be for hire. I've read too many Terpy posts, and think he should be a host.

Agreed, but guests would be happier if they did not have to stand and wait long after the rain has stopped for the rides to reopen. That leads to guests leaving. If the rain is coming down hard and the ride closes but promptly reopens when the rain lightens, they will be less likely to be upset than when a ride closes for light rain and remains closed for 30 minutes after the rain has ceased. This is especially true on spring days when storms come and go many times. As long as the weather is reasonable up until noon, most guests probably wouldn't be affected to much by the weather unless they get aggravated about having to walk around and look at closed rides when they're just a little wet. Besides, some of us (that would be me), really enjoy rain rides!
-
Or just not close the rides if it isn't necessary!
-
I have seen the guy, as there are several that are there every public day to ride the Flying Scooters all day. I have been going to ask about taking a POV of The Tornado, but have yet to do so.

Hmmmm...I smell a chance for a trim slam. Since you do not wish to start an argument, I'll respect that. I'll just state that everything that you stated above, with the exception of the "removal of brakes" part, is unfortunate. (imo) Flyer, whose trim slam total on forums has to be approaching 100.
-
Unless things have changed very recently, it doesn't have to be pouring for them to close. Not to mention, you must then wait until the pavement is dry before the rides reopen. It makes me crazy to stand there and wait for rides to reopen when the rain has long since gone, or is just sprinkling.

You mean you can go past it on I-71 without getting off to drive past and say hi? Last winter, we went to KI in the offseason just to take pictures, and even walked up the bike trail behind the grounds trying to get a glimpse of...anything. Did I mention that was the only reason we made the 1.5 hour trip? Flyer, who just added two more to the list.
