  1. Now that I am back from the restroom after a "protein spill" I can sum it up with saying that anyone who requires such things should be shot...no not shot...that's not cruel enough...I'll work on it. The answer is...not well. I'd rather be punched in the face on every coaster for the rest of my life as opposed to seeing that wonderful coaster having...ugh...those "things" installed on it. Must go back to restroom for a second round...be right back.
  2. Judging by the cars in front of it, it can't be much after Big Dipper opened. Just so you know...the fun part isn't even in the picture. The hill behind the sign is the last hill of many ejection seat airtime hills.
  3. I thought I was the only one on KIC who ate at Stunt Crew Grill. * DQ has an awesome bacon cheddar burger.. or hit BK and get the Double Stacker (no, I'm not one of those prissy girls that watches every calorie, carb, additive, and grain of sugar/salt that goes into their mouth.. where's the fun in that?). I WORSHIP Stunt Crew Grill for their bacon cheddarburgers. Also, this past season I found not only the food to be awesome, but the customer service wasn't bad either. I'll have to try DQ, but I'm not a fan of the King. And in answer to the last question...nowhere, that's where. I can't stand it either. Flyer, craving a SCG visit.
  4. Okay...I'll have to give you that one! I hope Kings Island never takes on that approach. They're usually very good about having all the trains on the track...and I LOVE that. As another thought...what's random about Holiday World?
  5. It must have been me that you were trying to line jump in front of. He he! Getting out of line to use the restroom and trying to get back to your spot IS line jumping. Don't do it...no, no!
  6. The picture on the flier is fascinating! Thanks for posting!
  7. I'm planning to be at both events there this year. Holiwood Nights and Midwest Autumn Airtime both sound appealing to me. HWN is amazing - went last year. Are you planning to go to either of those, or just make casual trips?
  8. The best meal deal ever would be a bacon cheddarburger and waffle fries from Stunt Crew Grill for $5.00. crying...I miss my bacon cheddarburgers...need them...need them...must have...okay, now over it.
  9. Yes...and I had the best ride on it ever at Halloween Haunt this past season. There was one night (if not others) that there was very little wind, and the air was heavy. The weird lights from Urgent Scare at the turnaround added to the effect of the highlight - the bottoms of every hill were covered in fog. It was very creepy to see the track fade away into nothing, and then to not see at the bottoms of the hills because of the fog - wonderful. Vortex is great too because of the lights on the lift, and also because of the wonderful view you get of the park. Son of Beast is much better at night than it is in the day if you ask me. But...for me you just can't beat the night rides on The Beast.
  10. If you haven't been to Holiday World, you should definitely go. Don't miss a single one of the coasters either. Then you will understand why I insist about dwelling on how much I hate the use of trim brakes at...certain parks.
  11. According to the name of an ACE event this summer "There's More than Cheese in Wisconsin."
  12. I only wish, but my obligations are already set for opening day. How well I know. See you on train 1!
  13. To the first - ouch. To the second - neat. To the last - sweet! I LOVED the day that I got to ride The Beast twice in a row in a total downpour. The water running off of the helix tunnel smacked me in the face - I just laughed - it's not like it hurt.
  14. Good grief, I hope so. I got very accustomed to buying one very quickly when after the park. It was usually after my morning ritual of marathoning on The Beast.
  15. Yep, sounds good to me. I guess that's why I renewed my platinum pass way back in the fall. (Almost as soon as they started selling them, in fact.)
  16. You could always ride The Racer and check back later. Flyer, who spends lots of time on The Beast, but who also loves The Racer.
  17. Kentucky Rumbler on New Year's Eve at midnight was quite a bone chilling ride. Would you like riding a coaster in...well...who knows, but it couldn't have been more than about 20 degrees - the park opened at 5 with 34 according to the car thermometer? I ended up with 30 rides total, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Despite the cold, it was absolutely fantastic. I guess, for a coaster, I just don't care how cold it is. (Not that I won't admit when a ride is bone chilling.)
  18. Thanks for reminding us, but please don't. Can we say, tragedy?
  19. I would tell you what you missed...but that would only depress you. It is sorely missed here, and it was my first wooden roller coaster. As for my first looping coaster - Corkscrew at Cedar Point.
  20. I think most of you know how I feel about wooden coasters, but it takes a lot for me to argue strongly about a steel one. Personally, I like to hang out at Tennessee Tornado. It's tragically under-rated, and to me it has one of the best loops ever! I'm also partial to what comes after the first little drop, but I won't spoil the surprise. Ride it in the second seat to the back. Mystery Mine took me a while to warm up to. The first time I was there, I rode it once and it went at the bottom of my ranks. It took me a few more rides to "get it." Now, I wouldn't miss riding it at least once per trip, but I would prefer to ride it several times...but only if it's a walk-on. Flyer, who believes Mystery Mine would be a much better ride without all the trims...like he'd think anything else.
  21. I hope for the best for Big Dipper. It is my #5 in wood, right under the Screechin' Eagle at Americana/LeSourdsville Lake, which is yet another John Miller coaster that is in danger.
  22. But it is, nonetheless, very poetic. I didn't see the original post, so thanks to Monroe and TheCryptRaider for quoting Jackson. It only took three posts for me to read it throughly enough to get it. Once edited, it will have a very nice home on my cabinet door to my computer desk. There are a few special pictures and special quotes there, and I believe this should be added to it. I still have the previous description of The Beast from the Kings Island website, so right underneath will go this. Thanks! Flyer, who is certainly not perfect, but who does proofread the majority of his posts to make sure they make sense.
  23. The only reason gas stations didn't charge $5 a gallon just because they could is because they have almost completely collapsed the economy doing it with $4 a gallon (my opinion - we're talking about food prices here, so I won't debate it). Your point is also off a little simply because I don't care whether a certain gas station stays in business as long as some do. There is only one Kings Island to help keep in business, and there are millions upon millions of gas stations. Eventually, maybe parks will realize that they could sell a million drinks and a ton of food by charging less, but at the moment most of them haven't. Regardless, I still feel that spending the money on the high priced food and merchandise at Kings Island is helping to keep the park in good economic condition. Since, as I pointed out, there is only one Kings Island, I'd rather see them get the money that they earn in profit as opposed to Wal-mart or wherever else I'll inevitably spend that money. There are some amusement park exceptions to price. Stricker's Grove comes to mind. The food there is not only delicious, but the prices are very reasonable. There are also many other small parks (usually not chains) that don't find it necessary to charge a fortune for food and/or drinks. I don't think I really have to mention a certain Indiana park themed to the holidays. The free, unlimited drinks is not the only perk...the food prices aren't bad either.
  24. Jeepers, iChase! No wonder you felt the prices. I usually just get one meal and an all day drink wristband. Using this system, I usually only remember spending about $20 each time I went to KI. ...then again...if I did that every time, I spent $540...ouch!
  25. Now you're talking! Even FOC has seatbelts now, not to mention that other thing. I love the rare occasions when you can still find a coaster that just has a single position lap bar and no seatbelt to get in the way. My favorite is Skyliner at Lakemont Park. I've only had a religious experience like this on one other coaster as far as airtime is concerned. I would bring up Thunderhead at Kennywood, but it's not air-laden enough to count. Then there's Rollo Coaster at Idlewild that doesn't even have a movable lap bar. It only has one airtime spot, and it's a small coaster...but, the lap bar style makes it as big of a blast as any other coaster. I shouldn't even mention Tigr'r at Indiana Beach. But I can't help myself....no restraints at all! Moral - less restraints = more fun, but in this crappy...I'm sorry...litigious society no one can do anything like they used to anymore. To be honest, I'm really on a bummer for society as we know it at the moment. I'm really ready to get back on some coasters and try to forget about it.
