  1. Beast does that on numerous occasions every season. Midnight closes, Saturday haunts, and other random busy days during the season do generate long waits.
  2. Just remember that these things could be hints, and they could also be intentionally misleading to make you think it's something that it isn't. An example comes to mind when Diamondback was rumored to have been given the name Mustang, and one of the park's teaser signs was "Ride Sally Ride."
  3. I've always heard that the park considers it to be a coaster. I absolutely do not. Sorry. If I'd consider Surf Dog a coaster, then I refuse to not count Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge at Hersheypark as a coaster. It works totally like a coaster except the motors won't let it coast down the hills. It's like being on an endless trim brake. ...and yes...I'm guilty of believing the Camden and Conneaut Lake dark rides are coasters.
  4. Then don't read it instead of just being rude. And I believe the point of the "long unforgiving path" is the same one that I mentioned for the Timber Canyon/Wilderness Pass area at Dollywood. It allows for more exciting attractions to be built along it. By your same logic, why is there a pathway that leads from the floral clock to LaRosa's Pizza? The Planet Snoopy/Rivertown path as well as Coney Mall both take you to the same spot. The middle path doesn't even have rides on it at the moment. I think it'd be a great spot for some flats in the section toward the Eiffel Tower, or even between Backlot and the restroom would fit a small one. They just haven't elected to use that yet...but they could. The point of the discussion is that we're speculating on what might be done at some point in the future. Nothing more or less than that. If you don't want to read it or think it's pointless, then don't look at this thread. I'm also curious to know what makes it any less useful that the park is only open seasonally.
  5. I have to disagree with you. I'd rather the rides be named on the map rather than having to look up what they are. Just from a more useful perspective, I'd rather they not change back. Food and the like can be numbered, but not rides, please.
  6. I admit to doing that once, years ago. There was a gentleman that wanted to get rid of two extra tickets and asked if we wanted them for 20.00 each. We agreed, as he offered to let us get through the turnstiles and pay him inside. Nice fellow!
  7. True, but considering the time difference, Racer is more impressive.
  8. Not everybody rode The Racer on its opening day, Terpy! (I'm so jealous of you for that.)
  9. Exactly, and I didn't realize you'd had that issue at KD as well. Okay, so you'll save $61.50, or potentially lose $240? No brainer... Even buying 1...save $20.50 or potentially lose $80.00. Still a no brainer... Some who like to gamble with fate would probably try it. I would not. Just saying, and with no disrespect intended.
  10. OUCH! I also can think of another park that has lots and lots of coasters that seems to have to let other things slip to keep them all open and running. I believe Kat and I referred to it as being like a ghetto Cedar Point. I wouldn't want that to happen to KI. I love how pretty much everything has a nice, well kept appearance.
  11. Your trip to Carowinds leads you to think of things like that, doesn't it. What I'm confused by is this - Why would someone buy passes for the same price the park sells them from someone that they have never met? I can understand it when there's money to be saved, but why set up a meeting place and buy passes with the hope they'll work when you can just buy them from the park?
  12. But what are we going to do now that Ronny's picture isn't there? Plus...I miss the water tower. Not to mention, when did Racer get pointy? (Can you tell how much I love change?) Even if they did jiggle around FD, it looks better that way than with a gaping hole in it where SOB should be. Here's something fun - compare this years map with an 03 park map and scare the hell out of yourself with how many things have changed in ten years. Then think about what it might look like in another ten.
  13. Opening day is slower when? I somehow do not remember any opening day I've been to as a slow day. Mostly that's because it's a Saturday. Combine that with the opening day kinks that happen frequently - mainly downtime, and it might be a great opening day or a horrible opening day. You just never know, but go with the flow. As for the rain - if it's raining enough in the afternoon to send lots of people home, it's usually because the rides have been down for a long period of time. If the rides aren't down, most people will continue to stay. I'd want the rain in the morning and before noon to keep people from showing up if anything. That said, I'd rather the park be slightly busier and have just an overcast day with maybe a sprinkle or two. Those are always my favorite days.
  14. When it's weekends only, Sunday is best. Otherwise, any weekday that is not a "Music in the Park" or "Math and Science Day" or some other kind of educational event should be a go. If possible, shoot for a Tuesday.
  15. That would get you to Action Zone in a way that would be useful, as theoretically they could put more stuff along it. That would be most similar to the areas of Dollywood known as Timber Canyon and Wilderness Pass. Before Thunderhead, none of that existed at all. As things kept getting built up, they connected the two and made it a loop...a BIG loop. I'd agree with you though that it will be YEARS from now, if ever that this happens. Over expansion would not be a good thing.
  16. Leave Vortex alone and appreciate the lack of downtime. We've got a coaster we can ride in that spot.
  17. Apparently you're thinking much longer wait times than I am. I'm betting the longest will be an hour for DB and probably 45 min for Beast, and that very much depends on weather.
  18. I noticed that it seemed to be off in most years after that. It's almost like someone forgot to turn it on.
  19. I find it hilarious that the user name is beast3631. The number 3631 is very significant to the ride. It's The Beast's phone number.
  20. Not that long. It was still there on my first trip to Indiana Beach in 2007 or 2008 - can't remember which for sure. Edit: My first trip was in 2007. Here, though is a picture from 2008 with the waterfall effect still working. (As long as the link works.) http://www.negative-g.com/indiana-beach/2008/indiana-beach-amusement-park-2008-16.htm
  21. Glad to see you enjoyed Tornado. I hold that ride close to my heart along with the Fury.
  22. My pick would be Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado. Eagle's good, but I still prefer Tornado. Also, a trip to Dollywood is not complete without a ride on the Fury.
  23. Kat and I are no longer working for the park, but perhaps we can meet you there at some point.
  24. Scooby Doo is a great name for a cartoon character, but for a coaster, I've always liked Scooby's Ghoster Coaster, and Fairly Odd Coaster always made me roll my eyes just a little. There's really nothing odd about a small John Allen kiddie coaster. The Beastie wins, though I accept your point of view. I almost forgot something very important in KI perfection, The Beast would have the walk-back back.
  25. Everyone who knows me knows my perfect vision of Kings Island. One with NO TRIM BRAKES!!!! Aside from that, get rid of Fast Lane and separators. Then get the big bunches of trees back that have been cut down, always race The Racer (and kick out anyone that adds an unnecessary "s" to the name), and for the love of all things precious, give The Beastie back its name. It was the best name for a kiddie coaster anywhere...period. Though Mild Thing at Valleyfair comes in a close second.
