@J.D: I logged into this forum again to say, this is a REALLY GREAT thread, and I thank You, Sir, for the time and effort you have put into this. Brad and Jesse told me I would like this, and they were right. @CedarPointer: All MDP (Main Distribution Panels) for a series of devices or an area, whether free-standing or within a structure built for said MDPs, shall remain fully accessible at all times to Power Company, or Maintenance Electrical personnel.

Money trumps Education in Virginia
IBEW_Sparky replied to IBEW_Sparky's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You are correct, Sir. I simply thought the context of the article was "interesting". -
Thats not pulling a Paramount, thats pulling a Geauga Lake.

Wow, I never knew of any lift hill that went 35mph... gimmie a fkin break.

As has been said earlier in this thread, and I will completely back this up from personal observation, please ride Adventure Express and look over at SOB as you go up the lift hill on AE. You will then rethink your assessment as to SOBs rideability. I have been in Construction as an Electrician for over 10 years, and I can tell you with 100% conviction that any carpenter Ive met or worked around in those 10 years would take one look at the catwalk structure along the track, and the structure under the catwalk and tell anyone who asked them to walk on it to take a flying leap. That structure is not even walkable any longer, let alone able to withstand the forces of that rollercoaster. I think the powers that be should get a clue and simply give a positive or negative answer as to whether or not this ride will ever run again... though I am 98% positive what the true answer is once you strip away all of the P.R. bullcrap and the "we have not made a decision at this time" garbage. We all know this is not a make or break "I will or will not buy a season pass dependant on the answer" situation... so just spill it and get this entire subject resolved.

Mean Streak closed?
IBEW_Sparky replied to jrose530's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yeah, they told us about it at Fall Freakout, and there is a pic in Brads PTR (Indyguy4KI) that shows the track has been removed completely from the banked turn. -
No, we did not. All we did that was Haunt related was their version of Club Blood, and the aforementioned show.

We had a really GREAT time, and as Brad said, did things that we would have never done under normal circumstances. I am a big fan of spinny flats, so we rode the tilt-a-whirl, Calypso, Matterhorn, and Super Himalaya and I havent laughed as hard as I id when I was on those rides in a long time. We also got the chance to experience their Dodge-Ems, and for those of you used to the insurance company/lawyer neutered version at KI, you all owe it to yourselves to ride the ones at the Point. We also had the pleasure of experiencing the show "The Edge of Madness: Six Feet Under" which is, from what Brad told me, similar to "Hot Blooded" at KI. Great dancers, great costumes , and very talented performers in this one. Id also like to take this time to commend the staff of three Ladies in Guest Relations on Saturday night (I foolishly neglected to get their names). They spent 25 minutes talking to us, and went to great lengths to find out the information we requested as to what the replacement ERT ride was for Saturday night. This trip was a perfect example of what these little excursions of ours are really about... bonding with good Friends and enjoying our mutual hobby, as well as letting the stresses of the "real World" go for a short time.

I will be wearing my Coastermania 2011 shirt... just FYI
-
I decided, what the heck, I havent been to the park once this season, and this will allow me to justify it.

The way that guy dances about everything ("Its a very special ride, we want to make sure it has a proper home"), I fully expect him to be featured on a certain prime time television program airing on ABC.

Man Loses Sight on Dragon Challenge (USO)
IBEW_Sparky replied to Kilometers's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Kelli, thats what I ALWAYS do when on any coaster. Im either wearing my sun/safety glasses, or my blue tint safety/shooting glasses when it is overcast or post-dusk. Its not just simply to keep dirt out of my contacts. -
Saw it coming.... it was $12 at KD on Opening Day, and I was honestly surprised it wasnt $12 at WoF when I went there for their (joke of an) Opening Weekend. Im AMAZED its still $10 at the Point, though Im willing to bet that changes before this weekend if it went up at KI.

New at Holiday World for 2012
IBEW_Sparky replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It would be quite interesting if the park were to have Gravity Group build a clone of Quassy's new Wooden Warrior. It would give them a place to actually put the Timberliners where they will function properly. -
Actually, I dont mind going to parks alone one little bit. I am going to CP next Thursday alone, and am going to enjoy the mental escape and solitude. I take my iPod, and always wear one of my park shirts (usually my HoliWood Nights shirt) because it tends to attract conversations during the times I actually wish to talk with someone while queuing. With that said, I ALWAYS enjoy days spent with Friends, and its without a doubt more fun to go to an Event with a Friend or Friends.

Took my first ever ride on TTD Friday at approx 1045 am. I now feel like a complete fool for letting that ride (mainly its 420ft height) intimidate me for so many years! I truly wish that it had been built by someone other than "Intamightwork" because I really LOVE the ride and would like to be able to get more than 3 rides a day on it (we got two Friday total). I bought the on-ride photo from my first ride, and I Love how the launch photo shows me with the "OMG are you freaking SERIOUS" petrified look on my face, and the brake run photo shows me screaming with excitement and happiness with my hands in the air lol. Friday was a great day/night, Saturday was just a bit too hot/busy for me, and I spent a good amount of it at Soak City or outside the park. What I would like to see happen, is to extend the Friday ERT to 3am, eliminate Saturday morning ERT, and extend Saturday night ERT to 1am, thus making up for the elimination of the 3 hours of ERT Saturday morning. I feel that would allow people to actually enjoy Saturday more, as well as keep more of them in the park spending nickels instead of leaving to eat and going back to their rooms for naps, like Jesse, Brad, and I did.

Waiting in line for Raptor to open on CP Opening Day..... some braintrust was telling her Friend that the reason Raptor and Dragster were not open yet was because the ride-ops couldnt see the top of the lift hill. Meanwhile, looking off in the distance, we could see Millie going up its lift hill and.. yes you guessed it... into the fog which was approximately 200 feet up.

How Many Season Passes Do You Have?
IBEW_Sparky replied to FOFreak's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
CF Platinum Pass, purchased at KD, and to be used at CP, KD once more this season, and WoF once or twice more. I have a 2010 Holiday World pass, but have not renewed it as of yet, and am wavering on whether or not I will. -
I dont know, I kind of found it refreshingly honest and.. well.. true. And You are absolutely right Terpy... they have to find some way to pay that 20 mil, as well as every other ridiculous expense you mentioned.

Voyage to use 7-car PTC trains in 2011
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am not a big guy by any means (5'9", 171, slim build) and I ride Voyage hands-up all the way like it should be, and dont get tossed around. The key to Voyage... which does NOT work on beast by the way.... is to "ride it like a motorcycle" so to speak. Motorcycle riders, or people who have been behind me while riding it (Keith, Jesse, Brad) will know what Im talking about. When the curve approaches, lean into it, like you would on a motorcycle. The ONLY time I got tossed around on Voyage was on May 15, 2010... and that was my first ever ride on Voyage, last car, back row, in the BLUE train (not the junk-hammering Ravage train). I not only didnt know how to prepare for the corners, but I was also so ridiculously excited that I dont remember breathing from the time we went down the first drop, until Kat turned around and said "Welcome to Voyage, take a breath" right before going into the triple-down. -
Voyage to use 7-car PTC trains in 2011
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You are seriously telling me that Beast doesnt HURT?? PLEASE, tell me in what row/seat you are sitting, so I can possibly ride that thing if I choose to attend Opening Day. The last time I road it was on Sep 10th of last year, and I swore I would absolutely NEVER sit on a Beast train again. It hurt, genuinely HURT from the point of leaving the second tunnel, until the double helix where it had been retracked. It has become very honestly un-rideable to me, even to the point of it still hurting the next weekend when I was fortunate enough to ride Voyage. Avatar was with me, he will back me up in the amount of discomfort I was in even after starting off on Raven... as a result of riding beast the weekend prior. EDIT: Even though I am second only to Dare-To-Fly in my deep-seated hatred for trims, I would truly hate to even think of what that monstrosity would be like without trims. -
Beat me to it Terp, I also heard this morning on the way to work that the Regulatory Commission was going to be taking a VERY close and hard look at this pending transaction.

IBEW_Sparky replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have to say honestly, that I am quite glad Raven has its second train back, because I will fully agree that there are some elements of Raven (the "hidden" drop back in the trees) that I really Love. With two train operation dropping the wait times drastically, I can see myself spending a lot more time in that area of the park as well. It wont be opening day for me, but my visits will still be as frequent as my new job schedule will allow.
