Hehehe.. 38 Special tshirts...sounds like Donnie Baker was at the park . In regards to the 90s and fads, there were three leisure items I always had either on my person or in my locker in high school... and those things were A)Koosh ball for the reason already mentioned, a hackey sack, and a frisbee! Sorry, but a good sniper attack across a classroom with a Koosh ball was even fun to a group of Honors Students LOL.

Honestly, it was a true shot in the dark, after reading a bit about the early history of the park and finding out that the first "ride" at the park was the Steamboat "Young Reindeer" that Louis Zistel used to bring guess to CP in the Summer of 1870.

Authentic Steamboat tours around the park on Lake Erie.

I totally agree with your accounts of Villain, and am thankful someone other than myself and Mr Drabek from Negative-G feels the same way about that great ride! That coaster died too soon... FAR too soon, and though I may have (and still do) take it more than a little personally, I honestly feel that it was CFs lack of proper maintainance on that ride that gave it a black eye of sorts and undesirable at Auction. Id Love to see that ride at a park like HW, properly maintained, I miss Her from Her glory days, before the last time I rode it in 2005 when it hurt me in the trick track section. I still lament the fact that my last ride on it was a bad one

I said Gwazi for a reason, that reason being because I like the dueling layout and the near miss elements, so I suggest/request you no longer attempt to "fix" my posts unless/until you know the reasons for my desires. I did not make any accounts as to its roughness or possible lack thereof since I have not ridden it and, as GWK said, I dont find it proper to judge a coaster I have not ridden.

+1 for Voyage on my accounts as well! Voyage is absolutely by far superior to any other single woodie (or hybrid) I have ever been on, and nothing around this region stands a chance of unseating it. My planned trip to Jersey next year may give me a new #1, but El Toro is going to have to be just SMOKIN to do that.

Right on, Jackson, I can definitely agree with the thought that a GCI makes a better addition in todays times of ultimate bang for the buck, and the ability for 80% of the GP to be able to ride and enjoy it repeatedly instead of 30%. I would definitely enjoy seeing a copy of Gwazi at the Point.
-
Just out of curiosity, Jackson, what makes you prefer a GCI over a GG? I have no dog in the fight, I am just truly curious, I feed off of information like this because I find it entertaining to know what makes people like one type of particular coaster over another.
-
No, but the GP DOES care if the ride they want to ride is open to ride when they are there to ride it. I bet if you ask members of the GP who makes TTD, they may not know who makes it, but they will know to say "Oh thats the piece of s**t thats always broken and I never get to ride it". That also affects riders per year/life of the ride, which lends to the statement TH13TEEN made in jest.

Or "The Fun and Only" for that matter.

Aug 8 Holiday World trip report. (they don't charge for condiments!)
IBEW_Sparky replied to TopThrill's topic in Trip Reports
Kieth, it was that same way last year, I just checked my photo archives from last years' visits. Also, the lack of clocks is exactly as has been stated here, to try to fool the guests into spending more time/money... just as it has been in casinos for decades. Apparently the geniuses who own/operate these places seem to forget 99% of everyone in this Country now has a phone that has a clock on it. -
I will have the shirts in my car, so we can meet in the lot before the event starts.

Naked Roller Coaster Record Smashed
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
well, I guess in this case the bins werent needed for anyones loose items..... it would have been funny to see it on Diamondback... 102 people with nothing on but flip-flops -
Yeah, and I like Corvettes too, but that doesnt mean for a second I cannot say with conviction that I think Chevy sucks!! FYI, Maverick is my #1 Steel and Millie is number 2, but I can not and will not avoid calling a cat a cat.
-
OK, thank you Terp for that info, knowing the actual numbers makes me much more apt to at least believe in the possibility of the new "ride that will cater to thrill-seekers". Sparky, who couldnt resist one more quote lol.

"Kinzel's already said that the new ride won't be built by Intamin" HAHAHA!! Would this be the same dick who said "food prices will only increase by a nickel or two" or "The poor economy will actually help INCREASE attendance" ? I need a statement from a more trustworthy individual to have any cred in my book when it comes to who will or will not be building a new anything at Cedar Point. At this point, I truly am skeptical about any new ride being installed there simply due to the poor financial condition CF is in. Now, I may eat my words, and if I do well then so be it, I will admit it.
-
Lets just hope this time, if they are going to be foolish enough to once again go with inta-mightworkandmightnot that they dont subcontract out the ride vehicles

Which park would you rather have as your hometown amusment park?
IBEW_Sparky replied to BeastForever's topic in Kings Island
With the two choices given, I dont even have to let my mind fully process the statement before I say Cedar Point!! However, as has been said within this post, if the list were expanded the choice would be Holiday World. WDW would get the ultimate nod but I consider that "parks" instead of "park" so it is not a fair comparison. -
SFGAd GASM Removal
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, that has been explained and understood... I am posting food for thought as to WHY it is being scrapped as opposed to dismantled carefully and sold/relocated as I said. -
SFGAd GASM Removal
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You know, a certain post made me really ponder as to why GASM was not carefully dismantled and either A)put up for sale or B)rotated to another SF park. I am beginning to think there was more to its removal than making way for CHANGe.... and could possibly be for the same reason KC was removed. -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
IBEW_Sparky replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
If I am not mistaken, this same area behind SOB can be seen from a more "ground level" perspective from areas of FD's queue. I think that would lend itself to some good photo ops with a good zoom lens. -
As a former Police Officer, ask me how many theft reports I filled out for people with tinted windows and alarms that made their vehicles so "safe". As Terpy said, the only attention the vast majority of todays public pays to alarms is to yell "Turn that *** off", and to be honest, deep tint on a nice vehicle ATTRACTS attention, almost as much as an Alpine or JL Audio decal on the vehicle. Alarm systems serve two purposes... A)insurance rate discounts and B)To ward off amatuer "smash and grab" thieves who dont know how to defeat said system. Bottom line... they want it, they will get it... the best "security system" is to lock everything of any value whatsoever in the trunk and disengage the interior trunk release.

SFGAd GASM Removal
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Seeing that is upsetting, I truly understand your feelings about it Terpy. The audio, along with the sight of the parachute ride operating behind the lifeless coaster, makes the entire video rather surreal and eerie. I shed many a tear (and still do) watching the videos of GL's deconstruction. -
Sighhhhhhhhhhh... I thought of that soon after posting, but didnt feel like editing the post. I should have known You of all people would hit me on it LOL.
-
Exactly! I will ride any coaster out there (other than TTD, just still terrified of that 420) but you can stuff rides like DT and Power Tower and the likes. I finally did get on an S&S launch ride this year... Liberty Launch at HW... but its only 74 feet as opposed to 270 or whatever DT and Power Tower are.
