I was going to point that out also, and also point out the fact that the KC trains were NOT in the FoF building last May at RWCW. I took 4 lights on rides, and believe me I looked, because I wanted to see them.

New Lazer Tag and Indoor Go Karts open
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Hmmm, May 1 is Holiday Worlds Opening Day, the next weekend is Mothers Day weekend... I say we start getting something set up for like Saturday May15th... then leave there in the late evening and catch a couple of hours at KI getting some night rides in. OH, and one more thing Justin. DONT try to play in your Rocky gear, the skirt would mess with your range of motion and the wig would get in your eyes and mess your vision up -
Im just glad to see someone give WoF some Love. it really is a great park with a good mix of rides. The only time WoF EVER upset me at all is when they removed Orient Express for that turd Spinning Dragons, but its all good, Ive still got Mamba and also Prowler, which I will be riding the very first time on April 17th with Kat and dare-to-fly. EDIT: How could I forget Patriot!! That B&M invert just ROCKS, and more than appeases me for the loss of Orient Express LOL.

New Lazer Tag and Indoor Go Karts open

You would Love New Castle Raceway and also Whiteland raceway, too bad you are not closer to the Indy area. Both places tend to cater to the serious racer, with the sprint carts at New Castle going over 50mph, and the "somewhat" more family oriented Whiteland carts running just about 40. Ive had some really good times at both places, and am always flying the Smoke flag in one manner or another, be it hat, jacket, or t shirt! OK, we have three, and I KNOW there are at least 6 others I have in mind who would be down for a trip to the Web. -

A nice little karting/laser tag outing sounds pretty good Justin. I used to work for a venue called Laser X when I lived in Des Moines, and we used to have some REALLY intense matches after hours... Im talkin music so loud the bass is shaking the walls and every obstacle in the arena and fog so thick your vision is about 5 feet (think Haunt right by the Funnel Cake stand across from Eiffel Tower). Those packs and guns they are using at Web look great... should be a good time. -

Hey Justin, I will be 36 in 5 days and I LOVE riding go karts. Granted, the ones I really enjoy go a TON faster (sprint karts at New Castle Raceway), but I would certainly be down for some indoor karting with a few fellow enthusiasts/racers who can get down on 4 wheels. -
I wear contacts, because my eyes are extremely light-sensitive, and by extremely, I mean so much so I have sunglasses on anytime I am outside during daylight hours unless its very very cloudy... I mean summer thunderstorm dark cloudy. That being said, glasses would in no way afford me the light protection I need, so when Im in a park, Ive got contacts in. To combat the wind issue, I wear sunglasses on coasters, including after dark, which makes night rides on Diamondback and The Beast incredible.

I Love the statement about the paw prints making "nice anniversary celebrations", yet they (IMHO) blew a huge opportunity last year with how The Beasts 30th was "celebrated". I mean, a cake at RWCW and a sign on the fence next to the queue entrance that very few members of the GP even noticed, really?

If you look back a few days (maybe a week) you will find the REAL answer to question #4. I recall it being stated that the announcement for at least one of those attractions will be the week of march 29th.

Lines 7-10 are VERY spot on!!! I can think of two more that can find the door as well!

When the job market improves to where I can be steadily employed and can justify the cost, Im going to buy a Nikon D5000... but for now Im using a Fuji S700. Ive never had a problem with it, and as far as non-SLRs go, I think its wonderful. My only issue at all is that it tends to overemphasize red tones, like all Fuji cameras tend to do.

I guess what Im wondering about more than even that is.... why on Earth do they continue to post that question, knowing its going to be "answered" in the same dodgy way that would make any Politician proud. Are they THAT wanton for quality questions in the likely hundreds of questions they receive each day?

The Crypt could also be considered a "dark ride experience" and I would hardly use "special" to describe it.
-
Well, since I havent ridden TTD (yet) I have to say the most exhilarating ride experience is a three way tie between... A)Steel Venom for its sheer "Holy ****" acceleration factor, and then being frozen on the vertical rise B)Maverick for its nonstop action, element after mind scrambling element C)Millennium Force for its "OMG Im freakin 310 feet off the ground and about to go over 90mph" factor

The only "3" DK is concerned with one bit is the "3" in $3,000,000.00

Wow, even more motivation for me to take my iPod to every single CF park I go to this year.

Is there a Coaster Event Calendar
IBEW_Sparky replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
GOCC has a list of ACE and GOCC events on their website, and in the newsletter if you are a member of GOCC. I will send you a PM with the full list in just a few. I myself am going to Holiwood Nights at Holiday World (6/4, 6/5), Mid-Summer Scream at Waldameer (8-14) which is a joint GOCC/WNYCC Event, Fall Affair at Holiday World (9-18) which is a joint GOCC/CoasterBuzz event, and Fall Freakout (10-16) at KI... one of my two planned KI trips this year. -
As they say, every rosebowl has its thorn.... and what do most do when they get a thorn in their hand?
-
I thought the park replaced skid row with north and south poles about 9 years ago?

Hmmm... well.... the job opportunity I got when we came here made it worth it. Sometimes the career and providing for the Family trumps the weather., -
OK, wow, Angie Im glad you wrote such a long reply, so I wont feel bad in doing the same LOL. First and foremost, I am looking forward to 2010 being a much, much better year both professionally and personally to myself and both My Family and my Wifes Family than 2009 was. To say the least it was... um... less than stellar on both fronts, and Im absolutely anxiously awaiting the much talked about "Change". Park related, Ive got a number of things Im looking forward to as well, starting off by opening my season at Worlds of Fun Opening Day on Apr 17th with Kat and Nick. WoF was the first non-Disney "big park" I ever went to, and living in Des Moines, I adopted it as my home park of sorts. I havent been there since My Wife and I made it a part of a vacation we took for our 5th Anniversary in 2008, and Im really anxious to get back on Mamba, Patriot, and taking my first ride on Prowler. What is going to make the trip even more enjoyable is being able to spend the day with two Friends who share the appreciation for the park and the rides that I have. A very, very close second in the running is my first ever trip to Holiday World on its Opening Day of May 1st. I had planned on going there this year as it was, but after listening too Angie and Toms continuing raves about the quality of the coasters there while we were at the Timberliner Tour, I decided that I wanted to make my first time as memorable as possible. What better way to do that, than to not only be there on the first day of Timberliner operation, and with a group of people that I met last April on Opening Day at KI and immediately considered me "part of the crowd". I cant thank you guys enough for that, you know who you all are, thanks for making me feel very comfortable and welcome even when I tend to get shall we say "intense and outspoken" at times . One other park I havent been to yet that Im really looking forward to is KD. Not only am I really looking forward to riding Intimidator 305, but also to seeing the whole entrance and exit plaza they have built for the ride. I am, and always have been an Earnhardt fan, I was pro Earnhart before it was "cool" to be pro Earnhardt and being able to see and stand next to an authentic Black #3 again will be really nice. Im also looking forward to riding Volcano, as I have heard the launch out of the mountain is intense. With that all said, Im truly looking forward to getting back on Dominator, a ride I havent ridden since 2005, and is a constant reminder for me how much I regret not getting to Aurora before that fateful day in September of 07. I know some may think its "boring" or "a gimmick coaster" but I personally enjoy the way the elements flow and the speed coming out of the 135 foot vertical loop. I will link the final three things Im looking forward to into one final paragraph. I am definitely looking forward to my second ever trip to CP, Im making a 4 day trip up there right after Holiwood Nights from June 8th thru the 11th, and if I can get a small group of people there with me Im betting I can be convinced to shake my intense fear of TTD. Speaking of Holiwood Nights, thats another thing that I am definitely looking forward to and the primary reason I joined GOCC. I am really glad I did, because that membership gave me three more things to look forward to, Mid Summer Scream at Waldameer, Fall Affair Sept 18th at Holiday World, and Fall Freak Out October 18th at KI.

Sure seems more effective than CFs trash can idea, or at least it would be for me!! Sparky, who absolutely LOATHES snow and cold weather more than anything else Man or Nature created on this planet. -
Brad, I honestly dont think GG would want their name associated in any way with S of B. From a business standpoint, would YOU want you or your company's name associated with a ride that has the negative history that S of B does? I know I certainly would not, given the American public's penchant for filing lawsuits, be they frivolous ones or not.
