Voyage to use 7-car PTC trains in 2011
IBEW_Sparky replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
All Im going to say about this, mainly to avoid a rant of epic proportions, is this.... Michael Graham and his co-rider didnt seem to have any problems with extreme forces taking a toll on them during the video-announced test ride a few months ago. -
Yeah, from what I recall of the pic (cant find the &()&*W*%ing thing now) it was a pic of what is now Race for your Life Charlie Brown.

My plans consist of the following: A very much anticipated first ever trip to Kings Dominion, Carowinds, and Dollywood on April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. A nearly as much anticipated return to my adopted home park of Worlds of Fun for their Opening Day on April 16th, and my first ride(s) on Prowler Opening Day at Holiday World on May 7th, and FINALLY getting first ride(s) on the Timberliners Cedar Point Opening Day on May 14th CoasterMania at Cedar Point on June 3rd/4th, and my first ever ride on Top Thrill Dragster during Friday night ERT HoliWood Nights the afternoon/evening of June 4th GOCCs Mid-Summer Scream in August(?) at Waldameer GOCC's Fall Affair in September at Holiday World A trip back to Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa sometime during the Summer.... a park I have not been to since 1997 A first ever visit to SF Great America in Gurnee, IL NUMEROUS repeat trips throughout the season to Holiday World and Cedar Point, and maybe a few return trips to WoF and Dollywood as time permits EDIT:Oops, almost forgot at least 2 or 3 trips to Coney

Dude, you have seen my body size, and I do NOT, in any way shape or form, "drop" into the restraints... even with the amount of space between my chest and the restraint system when lying down on my back going up the lift hill. When the train rolls on the track, your body rolls with it and you essentially settle nicely into the chest restraints. The oddest thing to me is the slight feel of pressure in my head from being upside down facing downwards on the drop right after the rollover. The reason I dont ride it any more, is because it... quite honestly... bores me to death to do so and the wait time (to me) far outweighs any enjoyment I get out of it. I promise you, you wont feel yourself drop.... you will enjoy the experience.

Personal Belongings On Roller Coasters at KI
IBEW_Sparky replied to KILateNighter's topic in Kings Island
Yeah, the only time I ever had an issue at all, was opening season of DB, when the restraint stapled me after the 2nd drop, and ended up pushing the V Cast button on my touchscreen phone and bought some goofy Black Eyed Peas song without my knowledge! LOL The only time I can see a cell in the pocket of a pair of jeans or jeanshorts being a potential loss item is if its something HUGE like the Droid X. -

What gets me, is the fact that the powers that be are obviously following the discussion, as has been proven by the removal of said post from the blog. With this being known, I am simply curious as to why one of the individuals connected to the park does not have the stones to Man up and very simply confirm or deny the removal (or not) of Beast/DB from the ERT lineup. Are they obligated to do this? No, of course not. Would it make sense from a PR standpoint, as well as give some of us a bit more positive opinion of them? You bet it would. At least a definitive answer one way or the other would put all speculation to rest. Does it make one iota of difference to me either way? Not one, my PP was purchased through WoF, I am just observing this whole issue from an outside POV and am seeing a pretty obvious solution. -
Nope, I will just go give my $40 directly to the Community Center, that way I know they get every cent of it.

Strange footprint in the snow on KI Facebook page.
IBEW_Sparky replied to Oldschool75's topic in Kings Island
At pretty much any convenience store, it is readily available in the coolers, usually with the 7-Up, Sunkist, and A&W products. -
After watching the video "MouseTrapped" and reading this article, I am becoming more and more glad that I chose to not book our December 2011 trip to WDW. Though I would like to go back, I can no longer in good conscience give the Disney organization any further patronage. What was initially designed to be a World of freedom, fun, and enjoyment for adults and children has now become no more special than the lands of overpriced food and underachieved value we all have become used to at most regional parks.

CEDAR POINT COASTER MANIA INFO 2011
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Oh hey, Gibson, I forgot you were with us for a while last year at HWN during the Wildebeest ERT.... and yes I got SMOKED that day in the sun. I didnt really plan on lying in a lounge chair like I did, but I needed a "cooling off" period away from someone and while doing so forgot to put any sunscreen whatsoever on my lower legs. That sucked LOL! That will NOT happen again. Thanks for bringing up that wonderful memory!! -
Think about that the next time you even consider speaking out about a $4 Coke or $6 six inch at one of your favorite places. Dont get it twisted bud, its the same thing, a product is a product is a product, and some jerk spiking the price just because he can, and because its "his duty" is what it is.

Yes, even if the leak would take only say 8 to 10 hours to fix and resume pumping, this will be the "reasonable" excuse the detestable companies that we are unfortunately dependent on will use to raise the prices to the $4/gallon level. I was listening to a radio broadcast on the way to work right before Christmas, and an analyst was speaking of how its rare to see the spike above $3/gallon so quickly without having some sort of natural or man-made disaster to "justify" it. Well, Mr Analyst, here you go.... instant "problem". P.S. Anyone but me wondering what happened to the promise that was essentially stated as "I will impose fines and financial sanctions against oil companies recording record quarterly profits while maintaining high prices at the pumps"? Sorry, just disgusted about this whole pile of garbage.

CEDAR POINT COASTER MANIA INFO 2011
IBEW_Sparky replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, when Jesse told me about that brave soul on Saturday I was rather surprised, but here this Sparky is possibly facing the same scenario this year, only in reverse.... going to CM Friday night and for Saturday ERT, then driving to HW to get in on Saturday nights festivities. -
New Roller Coaster Idea for the future
IBEW_Sparky replied to ILoveTheBeast4Life's topic in Coming Attractions
I think it would be cool to have something that has the beginning transition just like TTD. But instead of a top hat, there is an Immelmann (sp?) type inversion. Then it could have a zero-g roll. It would be even cooler if there were like twin tracks and the zero-g rolls were right next to each other. I would LOVE something like this.... its the 420 foot top hat that has to this day kept me from strapping into TTD.... I am terrified of that height, and even moreso of the possibility (albeit slight) of a train stalling at the crest. -
OK, first of all, those trains are pretty B.A. and its about time someone besides GG/GK dared to be different. Now, second of all, though I fully understand why individuals are not allowed to say certain things..... WHAT IS THE DEAL with this industry?? Seriously, I know others think this way, the difference is I am the one who has the cojones to come out and speak it/ask the question. This is NOT the CIA, and I never understood the whole "G-14 Classified" nature of everything surrounding it. Build anticipation? Please, core fans are going to buy tickets/Season Passes (or not) regardless of what new "top secret" ride or attraction is installed at said park. Cedar Point is a classic example.... all of the fanboys and thoosies are P.Oed because there was no coaster announced for 2011, only the WindSeeker. Well, did any of them NOT buy a SP due to this announcement only? That would be a big "no". I, for instance, am in no way interested in any of the WindSeekers due to a paralyzing fear of heights... but will that stop me from going to CP? No, not at all. I guess what I am trying to say is for God's sake people (and by people I mean the decision makers in the Industry) if you are building an Intamin giga, just freakin tell us "Hey, we are buiding an Intamin giga that is going to look pretty much like these conceptual drawings, and its going to do this and this and go such and such a m.p.h." and spare us the months of B.S. I will understand if certain small details change and wont hold it against you, I promise . This is not just my $.02, others I have talked to, both in and out of the "thoosie" circles have expressed this same set of feelings and thoughts..... I just felt this had to be said.

Big Dipper may not be "saved" after all
IBEW_Sparky replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Le' sigh..... I read this on GLT as well, and if this is genuinely the case I will be incredibly upset/disappointed/nearly angry. I had genuinely had my Heart set on the fact that it was going to be saved... at least the trains if nothing else.... and was going to have the genuine opportunity to have a hand in the process as a volunteer to remove all of the rides electrical and control components. I really, really hope this can all be straightened out -
Actually no, he is one of the intelligent few. Twitter is the most blatant display of American self-importance and self-indulgence ever created...bar none. Anyone arrogant enough to think that anyone else TRULY cares whether or not they are on their deck cooking a steak (and things like THAT are what Twitter is used for most often) has a serious problem. Now, on topic of this ride and its location..... I was under the impression it was going to be installed behind the operators booth for Vortex, after clearing some of the trees behind it. The location its slated for is... to be blunt... dumber than Hell for the reasons stated previously (serious congestion and conflicts in regards to Vortex's exit, AT's entrance, Urgent Scare's entrance come Haunt time etc etc).

Ark Bible Park In Kentucky?

"New for 2013, the coaster everyone has been waiting for...... Stairway to Heaven!! Your first ride, may be your last." Oh, wait a minute, some other 'brilliant' Marketing team already used that slogan. -

Recently dismantled B&M?
IBEW_Sparky replied to IBEW_Sparky's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
OK, after further investigation, it has been determined that Scott is an idiot! I was mistaken, it was not B&M track, the spine looks more along the lines of Arrow or Vekoma track.
