That happens alot when people run out as the gates are closing. One time - I announced on the loudspeaker - if you are going to ride on this train - please take your seats NOW - the gates are closing. There were these people just standing there looking at with a dazed look on their faces. So after a couple seconds of them not doing anything I toggled the switch. Then the littlest of the group jumps out and the gate smashes into him and pins him to the queue rail. 95% of the time it is the guest's fault... But when it isn't the guests fault - which is RARE - we always try to open them again right away when we realize that there is someone stuck - but it takes a second or two for the system to respond... I think all the rides need to start a policy like Holiday World uses - and Italian Job has - where the guests have to stand behind a yellow line on the ground - that is more than arms reach away from the queue gate. It would prevent over enthusiastic kids from jumping in front of moving machinery.

Ahem...Hercules at Dorney Park???? Last Day was September 1, 2003... http://www.rcdb.com/id241.htm Problems with their rides? Ever hear of Top Thrill Dragster? When did Cedar Fair buy Dorney?

You are saying they shouldn't take more than 20 seconds to dispatch a ride? Delirium takes at least a couple minutes. And even on Vortex - if the ride operators beat the bell - they still can't dispatch until the lift block is ready for the train. So it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach the maximum theoretical capacity on Vortex - unless they speed up the lift. An employee told me today that there are only two things Cedar Fair cares about. Capacity Apperance

I just wonder why they don't list the parks anymore - just the park's markets.

The way I see it is that people were injured - but not killed. They were treated. They survived. That is very fortunate. So yeah - I was worried about it at first. But when I found out that everyone ended coming out ok from it - I didn't really think any more about it. Why should I? Of course I am now worried about the coaster. We know how the people came out. We do not know how the coaster is going to come out. I would be saddened by its removal - but I was saddened by the Flyers removal too. Life goes on.... So yeah - right now I am more concerned with the ride than the people - and I don't see anything wrong with it... And to answer the next obvious question - if I had been on it - if I had broken bones - I would indeed be upset about it. But I would still be worried about the coaster's future - and if it did reopen - I would still ride it...

rollercoaster you would like to see gone

If they removed teh Bavarian Beetle - they would have some room to build a nice indoor eatery and entertainment area. -
Height requirements are extremely strict. If the height requirement is 48 inches - and your child is 47.875 - they can't ride. It's for safety reasons.

When is this Bring a Friend Free day? It sucks when the park does those days on a Saturday. What was even worse was closing weekend last year when they had "bring unlimited friends free day".

Anyone ever rode Top Thrill Dragster?
TheKlockster replied to cincyboy0830's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I would think a rollback would be amazing. The feeling of falling on your back for 400 feet. Although I do not consider it a coaster - I think that Superman Escape would be an awesome ride. Too bad it is marketed as 415 feet tall but the train goes up like 300 feet. -
Either Dippin Dots or the Shakes from Happy Days.

Good point. The article said 31 of 36 people were hurt...

If we had to change the name of PKIC..
TheKlockster replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Awesome! If the name does change - I would also like my name changed - to TheKlockster. -
I will definately ride it again. It is a great ride - and I realize that while accidents do happen - the odds are very much against it...

It is a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, and it is already being discussed... Mystery Mine Topic

Power Consumption? It is staffing. Back during Fearfest they ran both sides at the same time. They also got alot of staffing from other rides. I was down there enough - that I got signed off to drive the ride.

Yeah I saw the same thing. That one guy said that he was certain the train jumped the track. And that it may be the biggest wood coaster in the world - but it's not worth losing your life... The media are really screwing this whole situation up...
-
I totally can't believe you just said that... Sorry Ryan we must have posted at the same time - that was for the guy above you.
-
There's no way the ride was going 75 mph right there.
-
I'm still upset about this. Like when stuff like this happens at Six Flags - its like - well yeah - ok. But then to happen at PKI - and on Son of Beast!
-
I have hit my face on the SOB lap bar before. And thanks for that info Reality 15!
-
But still - if a wheel broke or something - they definately would have felt it - especially at that speed.
-
Supposedly its all new track.
-
Its such a good ride though. If Cedar Fair removes it - and removes the other things on the books for removal next year - then the park will really suck.

Is that what they're called? Most are real blurry.
