  1. Because it cannot be easily de-themed and the land could be better be used for a different project. Even if they got rid of the name ITALIAN JOB - it is still a Mini cooper ride - and still themed to Italian Job movie - even if the name is different. Take away all the theming - and you have nothing.
  2. Have you ever been on either?
  3. I have heard from a few people that the Komaflyers are better than the Supermans. Still - the non-cookie-cutter flyers like Tatsu and Air look really cool!
  4. If it got the new wheels - it would have new axles - and NO finders. I haven't been up for a few days - but I highly doubt such a change would happen over night. Another advantage of the bigger wheels is that they don't rotate as fast - they can have the same rotational velocity with a smaller RPM. Thus they don't overheat as quickly.
  5. Michigans Adventure doesn't nearly have the attendance to warrant putting in a 15-20 million dollar roller coaster. PKI however does. I for one hope they get rid of the blacktop and Action Zone concrete and replace it with that Nick o Crete - like you see in Nickelodeon Universe and Boomerang Bay - but they probably won't. It looks nice, is cooler temperature wise, and is less maintenence/cleaning than blacktop. That coney blacktop gets pretty nasty on a hot crowded day.
  6. PKI won't get neglected - but I don't think they are going to take over and start plastering the park with Intarides and Beemarides. Partly because they are so expensive - and partly because the park isn't DESPERATE for one - I don't see us getting one for a little while. But it will come. But I am sure that ALOT will be changing each year for the next few years. The Coke-Pepsi transition, lots and lots of new paint, new concrete and some minor new rides to keep the public coming back every year. Then eventually a big coaster. Look at Cedar Point - they got Millennium Force in 2000 and then Dragster in 2003. Then a new coaster for 2007. So it's not like THEY are getting groundbreaking rides left and right...
  7. Next week you will see that Days of Thunder is gone - and Corkscrew has been moved there.
  8. Hey maybe Son of Beast will get the Intamin track after all - as PKINick kept talking about. But then again - maybe it will get the boot in favor of something new and not as high maintenence. I think we will get some good rides - but not for a a few years. In the mean time I will be enjoying Kings Island, and the free admission into Cedar Point (assuming there is an Ohio Pass - cause if there is I will buy it).
  9. I think Dick Kinzel will come down to PKI - and have another Icee - and sign the papers at 4:45 on Friday. I was thinking the 30th was Thursday but it is Friday!
  10. And I am certain you are wrong. The picture is taken when you are upside down, after the lava pit - going for the topspin.
  11. LMAO - I think you mean Price is Right. I am going to guess by the closing bell on Thursday - since CBS will be penalized 1 million for every day past June 30th that the deal is not closed.
  12. Demon getting stuck could be caused by any number of reasons - including bad design. If a wheel fell off - or an axle broke - it could have caused it. I am just saying that the nylon peeling off of one wheel on Vortex should not cause Vortex to hang.
  13. Oh - those are like vents or doors or something behind the Durga. It should probably be hidden but it isn't.
  14. The Holiday World employees weren't all that friendly when I was there. The only one that stood out to me was the owner of the park - Pat Koch. She chatted with us outside the park for a few minutes before the park opened. But as far as the ride operators go - they weren't any different than PKI associates.
  15. Exactly. Well said. Vortex wheels spin at a very high RPM - which causes them to heat up. This can cause the nylon to melt off of the wheel. To prevent this, the wheel axles are lubricated by oil - held in an oil cap. The oil caps are just kind of stuck on. If they do come off, the wheel can overheat, and the nylon can fall off. This causes the ride to run really roughly - and to make a terrible sound as it rolls. The sound is very clearly audible - and they know to shut the ride down and fix the problem as soon as it arises. It does not happen frequently though, because they check the wheels and oil caps every night. To answer coasterking123456 - yeah I know how Vortex works - alot better than you ever will...
  16. I have been on two types of B&M - Inverted and Standup. I DISPISE the standup. The inverted is amazing though. Raptor is my favorite coaster ever.
  17. Look for greeters at the entrances for all major coasters - and line seperators at some of the biggest coasters - like Beast, Flight of Fear, Face Off and Vortex. And I SINCERELY hope that we get spiels - like Cedar Point has. You know - how one of the bar-checkers has a headset and talks during loading.
  18. I think we can all expected to see alot of Fairly Odd Changes in the remainder of this season, and next. I can't wait!
  19. That happened at PKI last year. I was at the Scrambler at the time - and we kept running with 6 inches of water in our queue line. Tower Todd was making a futile effort to squeegee the midway.
  20. And the capacity ends up being the same.
