The height requirements are there for safety reasons. Alot of parents are pretty dumb because they just want their kids to ride. If they are too short, it means that they cannot be reasonably restrained. I get *****ed out all the time because parents say stuff like: "Four inches too short? I don't see why they can't ride if I ride with them." "Jesus Christ - she's only 1/4 inch below the 54 inch height requirement. Stop being an asshole and let her ride." "Your rules are so freaking rediculous. My son is in sixth grade! And you're telling me he can't ride a kiddie ride! I want a manager down here right now. You know what - F*** you - I am going to guest relations and complaining. I'll have your job for this." What is really funny is that half the time the kids don't think its that big a deal. It is the parents that like to fuss about it. I have to wonder if some of these parents don't duct tape their kids to the top of the family auto for the drive to Kings Island. They obviously aren't concerned with their children's safety whatsoever. When I am working - I try to be as friendly as I can be - but I will not allow a kid to ride if they are below the height requirement. I am not being mean or unreasonable. I am being safe. So deal with it.

That reminds me of the other day, when I was at Flight of Fear. These 4 guys get in the front seat, and we had to staple them all in - cause they were all tall. It was kind of quiet in there, and one of them said - I feel like I'm in a Metro. Everyone in the station laughed. I even got a good laugh at it.

All the work they did to Son of Beast was basically to make it more rigid. Did you notice all the extra supports they added?
-
They will not retheme Vortex. Vortex's current themeless state fits along perfectly with Cedar Fair parks. Also - they seem to like to keep classic rides. I think that Cedar Fair's acquisition of the parks guarantees Vortex a longer lifetime. And I doubt anybody on my crew would tell you that Vortex was coming down. First off - we don't know that. Second off we just wouldn't tell a guest that. Vortex is a great ride and I don't see it going anywhere until it simply becomes unfeasable to keep it around any longer.

I thought it was good too - till I saw CoastersNSich's. His is outstanding!

Would a Beast fanboy say that Legend is better than Beast? Would he even say that Ghostrider is better than Beast? Well I have repeatedly. I don't think I've ever heard you say a ride is better than Vortex. Uh, Vortex is my number three coaster. Magnum XL 200 is my favorite, Raptor is my second favorite, Vortex is my third favorite. Flight of Fear is better than Vortex - but I like Vortex better than Flight of Fear for sentimental value.

I am thinking like 2009... -
I wouldn't count on it.
-
True - I didn't even think about that. A ride can be great - but can be ruined by bad park atmosphere, poor maintenence on the rides appearance etc. Theres some rides on there that are ranked really low - but that I hear are outstanding.

I think by big wigs he means like operations managers - Jill Mohr, Kevin Eldridge, Chris Maupin - etc...
-
The Popularity argument still doesn't explain anything. I am sure Beast had ALOT more riders than Boulder Dash or Balder at Liseberg... There will always be fanboys for certain rides. I am a Vortex fanboy. Alot of people think Vortex sucks. They have their right to think that. UncleHenry is a Beast fanboy...

Demon Drop is darn good - but I like Drop Zone better. Demon Drop is really scary - and fun though. They both are AWESOME.

You did it again.

Cedar Fair Purchases Paramount Parks!

Hopefully Kings Island - but Great America needs a lot of work. If it is true they improve their parks based on how much the park makes every year - we should see frequent updates - and some really great rides - after the first few years it will take for CF to get things running smoothly and fix up the parks to their standard. -
Then how is Tremors at Silverwood rated higher than Legend and Raven? Regardless - I have my own opinion on which coasters are MY favorite - and Beast is at the bottom. And I am not alone in that opinion.
-
The Wood Coaster Poll is a legitimate poll. Many MANY enthusiasts took it. A lot of enthusiasts don't agree with you. Get over it. It is an opinion. I am not wrong for thinking Beast is the worst coaster ever - and you are not right for thinking it is the greatest.

Intamin track spotted on 275 today!
TheKlockster replied to YoungStud's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It is probably going up to Cedar Point. B&M track is spotted on 275 all the time. In fact - every B&M in the United States that was fabricated at CSF (I don't know if B&M has always used CSF as they do today) has traveled on 275 on its journey from the plant in Batavia. -
Top Ten???? Ranking in at NUMBER FIFTY - The Beast Crappy Coaster: Paramount's Kings Island - Wood Coaster Poll And Beast isn't the signature ride at PKI. Maybe Cedar Fair will tear it down. Could we be so lucky?
-
No... I would rather see Peanuts! On Cedar Point opening day - Linus was greeting guests waiting for the ropes to drop! Linus totally owns Spongebob!

This year isn't going to change at all. We will start to see changes next year. And that is from the conference call... -

Probably January 2007. -
Yeah and also - another thing to consider about CP being further from its markets - gas prices. Most of PKIs attendence probably came from wthin a 2 hour radius.
